I was in the area for a work trip, and decided that on my last day I wanted to go check out manatees because I’ve always had an affinity for them! I was nervous that it was too late in the season where we may strike out in seeing any, but Carlos and Captain Mike made it happen! We saw a few different manatees, and then made our way over to the clearer water of the springs. Even though the waters were a bit more cloudy than usual, it was still an awesome experience and I can’t wait to come back in the winter, to hopefully see even more! Carlos mentioned he’d been on the job for 3 weeks, but he was passionate and knowledgeable about the springs and manatees and I would’ve guessed he’d been doing it a lot longer! It was neat to learn about the ongoing conservation efforts and the protected areas within the springs, because even during the manatee offseason, there were a lot of people around. I love that they go over all of the rules to protect these creatures while still being able to share the joy of swimming with them!

Visibility was great in the crystal clear water. The captain and dive master explained everything well and gave us good information about the area. Recommendation: Wear full pocket fins or be very aware of where your feet are after you enter the water. You could lose a fin in the soft sand under the eel grass.

From beginning to end everything was great. The building at the starting point was well laid out with souvenirs room, rest rooms, changing rooms and an A/v room to watch the required video. Then a short van ride to the water. Our guide and captain were so interesting and funny.(Crosby and Jayson) Boat ride was relaxing. Amazing to see the manatees up close!! We did lunch at a local restaurant which was very good. The people at the sign on desk have a list of local places.

The view was beautiful! At first I was a little nervous but listening to captain Jayson and Joanna during the ride calmed my nerves. They talked about the creatures we’ll see and they were perfect with answering any question! I arrived with my friends and was able to meet new people and have a good time with them!

We had an incredible experience with Captain Jayson and Swim-guide Joanna! Their expertise and passion for conservation made our manatee encounter both breathtaking and educational. With their guidance, we were able to respectfully approach these magnificent creatures while minimizing any disturbance to their natural habitat. The trip was not only eco-friendly but also enlightening as we learned about manatees. Seeing them in the crystal-clear spring areas was a highlight—we were lucky to witness them in these areas where the water is clearer than elsewhere. It truly showcased the beauty of nature in its purest form. These animals embody the saying 'stay calm and carry on.' I highly recommend this trip for anyone seeking a meaningful and unforgettable wildlife adventure!

It was a great experience! We saw several manatees and could swim next to them. Visibility in water was very poor, but we could see manatees well because it was a shallow place, around 4 ft deep. Our guide said the reason of unclear water were sediments that had been brought to the bay by a hurricane in Aug 2023. We visited the place in April 2024. They also said there are hundreds times more manatees (around 600) in winter while they warm up in the shallow bay. In April there were not many of them, most of manatees went off to open ocean. But we still easily found several.
