I've previously been to Cape Town twice and was looking to get a different perspective. We made an excellent decision to include a tour with Cape Town Culinary Tours. Our guide, Justin, engaged with everyone on the tour, and there was never a lull during the four stops we made. Each stop was unique, all of the tastings were excellent, and we left the tour wanting nothing more than a small snack for dinner and a glass of wine. While this was a "food tour" it was also very much a history tour -- Justin didn't shy away from any questions fellow guests had. I enthusiastically recommend a tour with Cape Town Culinary Tours for friends/family/clients.

We have done countless food tours in our travels and this was one of the absolute best! This was the most interactive and informative tour I ever could have imagined. Justin foraged some plants and fruits for us along our tour giving us an authentic taste of the land. The food stops were all superb with a great variety. Justin’s knowledge was also incredible, there wasn’t a question he couldn’t answer. He had great insight and wonderful stories. I also loved that at a few stops he ate with us, it felt like we were all friends. He also knew EVERYONE at every establishment and his love for his community is palpable. Thank you Justin for the best tour!

The venues were well chosen and the food terrific. It also included a walking tour of the area and our guide also gave us a ton of information about the local history. We were given plenty of time to sit and enjoy our food and drinks. One of the best food tours we have been on.

This was a fantastic tour. Not only was the food great, but Justin, who led the tour was the best. He was not only knowledgeable about the food and restaurants, but equally as important he was so knowledgeable about Cape Town and able to speak from his own experience. He really made this tour one of our best experiences. We also returned to one of the restaurants for a whole meal because it was so good.

Our food tour with Cape Town Culinary Tours was fantastic. We loved tasting the delicious Cape Malay and Dutch foods and learning about the area's history. The street foraging was a fun surprise. We had the best time with Justin. He is a wonderful and knowledgeable tour guide. I learned a lot from Justin. And the food on the tour was so good and yummy. I tried ostrich (tastes like steak) and springbok (tastes like beef) for the first time. I highly recommend this tour.

Enjoyed whole experience- Justin is knowledgeable and skilled in ‘painting ‘ a broad historical picture of South Africa - which sets the scene for the food tastings. The portions are extremely generous and add up to meal +, we didn’t need dinner later!😀 We were each given a collection of spices, with instructions, with which we can recreate one of the delicious dishes. . Highly recommend..

We have done a few food tours in other countries and loved them as you visit places you probably wouldn’t go to but sadly this one let us done. Being that Cape town offers you the opportunity to eat and drink at a great price in many wonderful restaurants we felt you could have done this tour on your own and saved a fortune. We spent £425 for 5 people for 4 hours max. We only had two drinks during the tour as our guide strangely refused more on our behalf and paid for the tour herself after each restaurant . Sadly we don’t have the guide that seems to be praised so much. Just don’t get why it cost so much for so little so please visit the wonderful little off beat restaurants yourself and save a fortune.

Marianne was an amazing tour guide. She was very knowledgeable about the Bokaap history and area. We were able to start our tour with some wonderful tea and koe(k)sisters. The tour continued with some opportunities to walk through the Bokaap area and our ability to capture some great photos. There was plenty of food along the way with the final stop for an adult beverage and dessert. We had so much fun with several of the other tour guests as well. This is a must do if you are looking for some great food and want to eat the local cuisine. I don’t know if we would have found any of these restaurants on our own, so having this tour gave us a chance to try something and now we can go back for dinner. Go hungry!!

Justin was awesome it was the perfect blend of history and food just wish I had a second stomach. Great to have food out of my comfort zone

We really enjoyed this, so would highly recommend. Justin, our guide, was very knowledgeable about all things SA. It was our first full day so super helpful to get so much information about SA food, wine, history and culture. And get local tips on where to go / what to do in Cape Town. Food was delicious in at all the stops and the time flew by. Thanks so much Justin.

This tour was the best way to get a sense of Cape Town culture! We did this on our last day in Cape Town, and my only regret is that we didn’t do it on day 1! Justin was the best guide - super knowledgeable, genuinely connected to his community and well versed in South African history and culture, and so friendly and personable. He took us to neighborhoods and establishments we would never have found on our own (or would have been weary to visit as tourists) and showed us how welcoming and lovely the people and businesses were. We found so many places we would have gone back to (which is why you should do this early in your visit!) and tasted the most delicious and authentic food of our trip. This is a must-do if you really want to get a sense of Cape Town!

What an interesting and informative tour run by Justin. Justin is clearly passionate about all things south african, and has good local knowledge. we ate delicious south african dishes, in some gorgeous local restaurants and we drank in local bars. a truly great 4 hours. a highly recommended tour

The most enjoyable, delicious and informative afternoon. It was such fun experiencing good food we would never have found on our own. Justin was a great guide and we truly enjoyed his company and background information on what we were tasting and seeing. A definite must in Cape Town!

What a great afternoon! Justin was very friendly and knowledgeable and truly a local. We visited 4 different venues and ‘sampled’ something different at each. When I say ‘sampled’ I don’t in any way mean small portions! There was more than enough food to fill us up but the walking between each location helped to give us a rest before the next stop. We highly recommend this tour!

Justin was AMAZING! I’m from SA, however I wasn’t aware of most of our culinary history. The food was super tasty and good. You will eat, and eat and eat anddddddd eat! I really enjoyed myself. Highly recommended!

Justin was excellent. Great energy, knowledge, and a comfortable pace. We loved every minute of it! The food was really good and his knowledge of the food and of the area was also superb.
