This tour was the best way to retrace the events of Bloody Sunday and get to know beautiful Derry. Our guide John was the real added value of the experience: in one hour he managed to give us a true and engaging insight of the events (he and his family experienced them first hand). If you want to learn about one of the cruellest pages of Northern Ireland's history and understand how it impacted the present, you absolutely must not miss this tour. It really is worth it!

We loved this tour with John coming from Australia we didn’t have a true understanding of what Bloody Sunday was but we do now to hear it from a family members perspective was amazing & very enlightening. He was very factual & precise on the information he gave.

Big ups to John. The tour was informative, detailed, but most of all highly moving. A great chance to learn a history told through someone who has lived it and connect with another human

Brilliant! I was born and raised in Belfast. I married my husband from North Carolina, USA in 1996 and headed to live in USA and that was that. As someone who was born and raised during the troubles I had no idea about the issues living as a Catholic in Derry. The tour was an eye opener and John our tour guide took us to sites that were personal to him and shared his story. I don't think you can get better than a primary resource for history. It was incredible to see the footage and hear what happened on Bloody Sunday. It is important to know the past so that we can move forward. Thank you for an eye opening experience! I truly recommend this tour.

John McKinney was more than amazing. For those worried about the walking, we only walked 1-2 blocks at a slow pace. John was quite patient with all of our questions. He lost his oldest brother in Bloody Sunday and thankfully there is a beautiful memorial for his brother William. Really enjoyed the discussion. Lots of info in a short time .

This was a really interesting tour about the troubles in Ireland during the 60’s and 70’s. To have this time in Ireland explained by a local was very enlightening as our group knew out the unrest but not the true extent of what had happened.

An amazing tour with John. Educational and heart wrenching, made all the more poignant through John’s connections to this historic and shocking incident. A highly recommended tour to anyone visiting Derry.

If you are a big confused about the events etc. leading up to the Sunday and do not know any details about the events of the Day you should take this tour. Our guide, Noel, was 16 at the time and was one of the peaceful demonstrators. He was friends with almost all of the people killed and pointed out exactly where they were shot. He also explained very clearly the events prior to that Sunday as well as the events of the day. We also met Jimmy Toye who was there on Sunday; you can find him on You Tube discussing the events of Bloody Sunday. This was one of the best tours we have had in all of our travels.

This tour is highly informative and John has a lived experience of the troubles which he kindly shared with us. We highly recommend this walking tour as you will get a real understanding of the sad and traumatic times the people in the Bogside went through. Thanks John for answering all our questions!
