Wonderfully calm boat ride over to the island. Comfortable setting with toilets on board. Crew were friendly and knowledgeable. On the island, our guide was awesome!! Bright, knowledgeable, kind, funny and entertaining. Amused us when he pointed out how tall my friend was and the extra pointing out he'd have to do to make sure my friend didn't hit his head in the cave. There was a great amount of hand rails throughout the caves which was handy for those with knee/ankle issues. I thoroughly enjoyed the waterfall, and it was great to see that our guide backed up his claim of the water being safe to drink... with taking a drink himself!! The boat IN the cave was next level. The glow worms were spectacular and overall had such a great experience! Would definitely be back with another group of friends 😁

The boat ride was nice as well as the operaters information on the caves. However for the glowworms it's just the disappointment of the tour for the value. It's just not a great environment for large grouping of glowworms to develope and multiply.

It was ok. Boat ride over the lake was amazing, crew on the boat were lovely (Jess and Josie) tour guide had an annoying repetitive way of speaking. Photos of the glow worm caves are nothing like real life. It was ok, just a bit disappointing.

It was fantastic. The view was wonderful. The cave was awesome. Whole family enjoyed the tour. Do not miss it. RealNZ staff were very kind as well.

A great activity to do for everyone! Our tour guide, Jess, was great and really enjoyed sharing her glow worm knowledge with us. The beauty of the cave with the water rushing through was amazing and then the boat ride through the serene water to see glow worms was a once in a lifetime experience!

Fantastic tour! The boat ride to the caves had a warmer indoor area along with the windy sights up top. Our guide, Alex, provided great info and made sure we understood the rules of the caves and gave fair warning to the tall about crouching into the cave. The cave itself was really cool, but the silent and dark punt boat voyage through a galaxy of glow worms was of course the best part. My wife cried because it was pretty. The little dots of blue light became clearer as your eyes adjusted. Afterward there was tea, a presentation on the glow worms, and (due to our timing) a chance to catch the moonrise over the nearby beach before our trip back to Te Anau.

Wonderful. Absolutely recommended. We booked a few minutes before the tour started. The boat was comfy and clean with plenty of seats. The tour guide at the cave was really good we learned alot of new things about the glow worms and the caves ecosystem.

Frankly I didn't go for the worms I'd just heard the coffee was good, It was. Caves were extremely good too. 10/10 would recommend.

The actual glow worms in the cave were under whelming. Very tiny and not as many as expected. The ENTIRE experience ( boat ride, walk through cave to glow worms and short theatre presentations) however was pretty cool. Staff at all aspects of the journey was extremely nice and courteous.

Very good experience, boat across the lake briefing and then guided walk in the dark. Lots of good interpretation. As well quiet time on the boats to just look at the glowworms.

This is definitely something worth doing. However once in the grotto where the main glow worms are, all lights are off and it is absolutely pitch black. If you are anxious about the sense of being confined and disoriented - then this is not the place for you. You are very safe but I wonder if some kind of warning would be helpful about the utter darkness you'll find yourself in. Also you are in a boat at this point of the tour. I'm over 6 foot and the seating is such you will be uncomfortable if you're tall. Sit at the end of the bench seating and then you can stretch out a bit. Overall the cruise across the lake and the walk into the cave is beautiful. It is well guided. This is a must do if you're in Te Anau even with the comments at the start of this review.

An experience like no other with great guides like Heath to make it all even more so memorable with his wit and his expansive knowledge. The boat ride to the caves from the main shore is a gorgeous appetizer till you get to the caves. Just brilliant. My wife and 7 year old daughter really loves it as well.

We loved this whole experience from the boat trip to exploring the caves and the interesting information sessions. Even my 4 year old had an amazing time and was captivated the entire time. The caves were breathtakingly beautiful.

Nice boat ride through the lake. The best part was the glow worms, they were spectacular and the guides were very knowledgeable. Cool little row boat to see them. Caves are easily accessible.

My partner and I enjoyed the glow worm caves and couldn’t help but compare it to a slightly creepy Disney ride - haha! The tour sees you enter a dark glow worm cave, always accompanied by a tour guide and in a small group. We felt safe at all times. You get to view glow worms in for about 10-20 mins in groups of about 10 people. It was great fun and something we had never done before. I think the tour would be suitable for families, though children would need to be comfortable with being in the dark and listening to all of the guide’s instructions.

A lovely boat ride across Lake Te Anau to a really cool cave with water gushing throughout. The ramps and lookouts built within were great. And then, the glowworms! They are magical! An in-cave boat ride lets you experience the glowworms in complete darkness and quiet. Spectacular experience. Last but not least, our guide was amazing!! Voted best guide in NZ by our group :). We learned many interesting and kind of disgusting facts about the glow worms. Highly recommend this tour.

The glow worm caves were amazing! Informative tour guides ensured that we saw all of the best bits of the caves and the glow worms. The punt ride was fantastic.
