Overall we had a fantastic experience with Roy Safari Team. Excellent customer services at all locations and touch points during the safari. Owner and staff went out on their own way to ensure we were well looked after at all times from picking up the Kilimanjaro airport until the friendly English speaking driver dropped us off back at the airport after the stay in Arusha, Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Are and at The Resort. Our Tour Guide and the Safari jeep was awesome. His guided tour was very informative about Tanzania History, its people, culture, parks, animals etc. Food, accommodation, other services and facilities were superb. Package deals were very fair and much better than several other tour company packages. After my return to Canada, I recommended the Roy Safari to many family and friends. I am planning to go back to Tanzania and use Roy Safari again with extended family soon.

Our experience with Roy Safaris was absolutely wonderful; from the activities to the accommodation to the food..., the whole trip was extremely well organized. Our driver and guide Frank was just brilliant, his knowledge (not just about wildlife) and expertise were obvious from the start - we saw so much of Tanzania thanks to his attentiveness and impressive driving skills (despite the difficult road conditions of this season). On top of that he created a very warm atmosphere so that we all felt really safe and comfortable during our trip. Thank you very much Roy Safaris, and especially Frank for this unforgettable week! We hope to be back soon! :)

We have just spent a fantastic week visiting Tarangire National Park, the Ngorongoro conservation area and the Serengeti. Compared with previous self driven safaris this method was much to be recommended - especially during the rainy season. Our driver/guide, by the name of Frank was excellent - friendly in a professional manner, very knowledgeable about all aspects of nature (flora and fauna alike) and helped us in any way he could. We were able to enjoy from the security and comfort of the open top safari vehicle close viewing of most animals - leopards proved elusive! The very robust vehicle could cope with most conditions. Binoculars were available for viewing and a fridge stocked cooled water during drives. Planned toilet stops were also a feature of the game drives and remarkably most toilets seemed relatively clean - on site personnel in attendance. We were also very happy with the standard of lodge accommodation which ranged from traditional to luxurious. If anything negative can be said, the standard of cooking was somewhat variable although hygienic standards seemed to be in order. Lunch boxes organized by the lodges were also of varying quality and usually too much for our appetites. Leftovers from the previous evening were usually revamped. However, after a hearty buffet breakfast, we didn’t mind so much. Lunch was often taken picnic style sitting outside. The cultural visit to the IRAQW tribe was less successful and did not turn out to be what we had imagined. Beware of this if you are more interested in the wild life! We would have preferred a tour - sitting in a smoke-filled house was not necessary (especially if you have asthma). The commercial pressure to buy souvenirs was also unwelcome. However, all in all we can thoroughly recommend this firm for a quality safari holiday.

We could not have been happier on our trip with Roy Safaris. We saw amazing animals, even more than on our last safari. The accommodations were great as was the food. Our intrepid drivers, Manny, Salvatore and Thomas were terrific! The planning of the trip was not so easy, but once there, everything was fabulous!

Roy Safari's trip planning and logistics management were impeccable. They executed every aspect of the trip perfectly, from meeting us at Kili to returning us there seven days later. We stayed in tented lodges five of our six nights (Tarangire Ndovu, Lake Masek, and Kati Kati Makoma Camp 3) and Ngorongoro Lion's Paw Camp one night. All the tented lodges featured king beds, private bathrooms and showers, and ample space. Lion's Paw was the highest rated of our accommodations, but we were there only about twelve hours. The extra star made no practical difference. The hospitality in each place we stayed was warm, thoughtful, and genuine. Everyone we met was proud of Tanzania and helped us have the best possible visit. In particular the food service managers and staff at Lake Masek and at Kati Kati Makoma Camp 3 went out of their way to meet our needs, laying out breakfast buffets before 6 am so we could pack bush breakfasts to enjoy later. Chef Juma at Kati Kati graciously shared recipes with my wife after exploring what types of food she enjoys. Of course we were there for animals, not lodges. The first evening we thought that day's sights and experiences could not be topped. Then the following day topped it. Every day followed the same pattern. For that we must credit Peter and Simon, our extraordinary guides. From the moment one climbs in the van in the morning the guides are responsible for everything—navigating the maze of dirt tracks, driving their rutted, flooded, muddy, uneven surfaces (bouncing about in the back of a Land Rover is called "the African massage"), finding and identifying animals, answering our constant and oft-repeated questions, coordinating which each other so the twelve of us in our two vehicles arrived at our breakfast spots at the same time after independently pursuing animal sightings, setting up tables and chairs, making bush coffee, keeping in touch with other guides, keeping us safe, teaching how to deal with the animals respectfully, managing twelve personalities, staying at the bush airport until they saw us board our plane . . . I cannot praise them enough. This was the most remarkable trip of my life. Thank you Roy Safaris, and thank you Peter and Simon. Traveling with you was our good fortune.

We had an amazing experience. Our driver John was an expert in spotting animals. Big or small, near or far, he saw them. And he was an exellent driver. Smooth on these rough roads and fast when it was needed. The lodges were great.

From our arrival to Arusha to the end of the trip, our tour was exceptional. We had 12 people in our tour and so we had Peter and Simon as our guides. I can't say enough about both of these incredible guides. They were knowledgeable about the animals, the culture and history of each area we were in. They were patient with all of our questions and requests. They looked for the best area for us to see all of the gorgeous animals that we were seeking to see. They made sure all of our needs were met each day. And to drive in that terrain was incredible- simply amazing. All camps were wonderful- the food delicious and the hosts of each camp were simply delightful. If you are considering a safari, I recommend Roy Safaris and most definitely I would request Simon and Peter for the best Safari experience.

This trip was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, even for people who have traveled a lot. The organization of the tour was very professional. The African Tulip and the tent camps in the Bush were all excellent- enthusiastic and capable staff, eager to please, excellent food. To be able to get a hot shower on demand in the middle of these remote spots, the concern for our safety and comfort, the staff who are interested and willing to engage all made the trip so enjoyable. Every tent camp, especially the two on which we stayed for two nights, nbehan to feel like family. They put us totally at our ease in their attempts to ensure that we were welcomed. And our guides- Simon and Peter, or Peeta, as Simon called him- were absolutely fabulous. They are both very intelligent, very interested in their guests and their work and amazingly well-informed about the flora and fauna that we encountered. They knew us each by name, and went out of their way to accommodate any special requests we might have. My wife loves birds and really wanted to be able to see a Hoopoe. Both guides did their best to find a Hoopoe, and, sure enough, just before the end of the last hour of the last game drive, Simon identified a Hoopoe. We got good views of it. The numbers and diversity of animals speaks for itself. Peter and Simon worked together extremely well to make sure we all got to see, photograph and video as many animals as possible. All in all, it is difficult to overstate how much we enjoyed this safari and all it entailed. Roy Safaris created a perfect trip at the perfect time of year to allow maximum viewing with minimal other people. I cannot say enough about Peter and Simon. I consider them both to be friends and hope I get to see them again. One example speaks volumes about them. The first evening in camp, we were in the tent that was the last one away from the main camp. The skies opened up as we were walking to dinner with an escort. He found us two umbrellas, and we still nearly drowned. Our shoes were soaked. The next morning, Simon took me to a village market and was able to find a pair of crocs that were close to my size. He also made sure I wasn’t overcharged for them. I wore them while my shoes dried out. We did all this while our group was having lunch without inconveniencing anyone. Peter would have done the same. Truly a couple of great people. They shared the details of their heritage and their personal lives. They educated us about the Masai and their life and their history. It was a continuous tutorial on everything we were seeing and feeling. I would recommend this trip in the most enthusiastic terms to family and friends.

I was part of a group of twelve friends on safari from February 29-March 6 2024. Our two guides were the incomparable Simon and Peter and together they gave us the experience of a lifetime. Each day, from sunup to sundown, was a perfect combination of education, adventure, exploration and amazement. Simon and Peter are deeply knowledgeable, experienced, kind, patient, entertaining, thoughtful and above all, enthusiastic. I mention each of these great qualities because I believe it was this combination that made the experience so perfect. Both guides took care to get to know each of us and to discover what would most make each of our experiences particularly impactful, whether it was going above and beyond to make sure we had the chance to see a particular creature we hoped to encounter, no matter how elusive, or deepening our understanding with both general overviews and situation-specific explanations. Beyond this, the accommodations throughout the journey were welcoming, comfortable, and beautifully situated, so each evening and night brought easy rest and the chance to experience these extraordinary settings around the clock. I’ve already recommended Roy Safaris to several friends, and I wish this organization and its very talented team good luck going forward. So happy to have had this great experience. Simon and Peter are extraordinary ambassadors for the beautiful country of Tanzania, and the company they represent, Roy Safaris, is a first-class organization.

Roy Safaris delivers. From the moment they pick you up at the airport, bring you to the delightful African Tulip hotel in Arusha to get you on the road with top notch guides, they have this down. Our guides, Peter and Simon, could not have been more competent, from their expertise about the animals, where to look, maneuvering the vehicles through mud, over stream beds and up steep inclines and giving us a crash course in Tanzanian history. The guides are critical. They can make or break a safari. I can’t imagine finding two more dedicated, knowledgeable, patient and capable guides.

We just got back from visiting 4 parks in northern Tanzania with Roys. We had a fantastic time, and Roys took care of everything. I had passport troubles, and could not get on the plane, so had to send my family ahead without me. Not problem for Roys, they took care of the family, and caught me up to the rest of the gang with a special middle of the night airport pickup and trip. Slight extra cost, but gratefull for them making it possible. All of the lodges and tent safaries were top notch. I had been on safari with Roys before, and this trip was even better. Our guide Richard was absolutely the best. Can't recommend him high enough. We saw many rare animals that a lot of other people don't see because he was so full of knowledge and knew just where to go. He also put up with all our noise and teasing. He was great fun. We stayed in the two hotels the Roys owns, and can recommend both of them. I hope I can go back with them and do it all again someday.

A great experience, it’s like going back in time! Wildlife everywhere, we hit the wildebeest and zebra migration perfectly. Our guide John Shetui was excellent, very professional and great at getting us close to wildlife for perfect photos. He has extensive knowledge of all the wildlife, and knows the maze of roads like the back of his hand. We spent 3 days at Lake Masek Tented Camp in the Nutu area, and found the wildebeest migration, many lions, leopards, and thousands of zebra. Lake Masek was a great comfortable place to stay, very close to much of the wildlife. We then moved to Sound of Silence Tented Camp in the Serengeti, where our guide John found us many elephants, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas and thousands of impalas and gazelles at close distances for easy photos. Sound of Silence was a well run and professional lodge you wouldn’t expect in the African Wilderness. I would highly recommend John Shetui as a guide to use with Roy’s Safari, he gave us 100 %.

Amazing tour! We did a two day/ two night private tour and it was AMAZING! Both the guide (ask for Simon!) and the accommodation were beyond perfect! Simon was the perfect guide. Very knowledgeable and personable. He also helped with our transfers and was happy to stop at gift shops and give us bargaining advice. We also loved his wit and humour. Cannot recommend amend enough!
