We enjoyed this experience and the host. The sushi ingredients were extremely fresh and we were pleasantly surprised by the sushi we created.

We were thrilled with the cleanliness and traditional kitchen where we learned how to make two types of sushi. The group was small so we got a lot of individual attention with the cooking instructions. At the end we got to eat our sushi creation. We made so much that it was impossible to eat all of it. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes to cook or who likes to eat fresh sushi.

There were only two of us this day which meant we had good chance to chat about cooking and life in Japan with our hostess, Canna (?spelling, sorry). The studio is a lovely room and the ingredients were all prepared for us to produce the sushi. One tip, don’t e at before you go there as there is a lot of sushi to eat at the end of the lesson. Great session.

Kana was outstanding - kind, so knowledgeable, and made the experience a blast. We learned so much about different types of sushi, the city of Kyoto, and loved getting to enjoy the sushi at the end. I would recommend this to any of my friends who are visiting Kyoto.

My husband and I have never attempted to make sushi, although we enjoy eating it. This class showed us how simple it is to make 2 types of sushi and we will definitely give it a try when er get home from Japan. The instructor was so kind and great at explaining each step. She even gave us a gift when we finished. The studio is near the Fushimi Inari shrine, so it was worthwhile to combine the two.

This was the best part of my trip to Japan! The building is beautiful and spacious yet cozy, as if you’re going to a friend’s house to make sushi! Kana, our instructor, was the highlight—friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging. Beyond making sushi, we learned about how the ingredients were prepped, Japanese customs and culture, and got some helpful tips about places to visit in Kyoto, making it a truly enriching experience! Throughout the class, Kana took pictures for us so we could remember the experience. The thoughtful gift bags, including sushi-making essentials and a hand-folded paper crane, are a great keepsake and let you take a piece of Japan home with you! I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Kyoto!

I recently attended a sushi making class with my family, booked through TripAdvisor, and it was an absolute delight! Our instructor, Kana, was not only proficient in English but also provided clear and helpful instructions throughout the session. It was truly satisfying to take home a small gift bag from Kana, making the experience even more memorable. Thanks to Kana's guidance, I've been able to recreate sushi at home with ease, which has been a fantastic addition to our family gatherings. The classroom itself was superb, boasting ample natural light and comfortable seating, creating a conducive environment for learning and enjoyment. Moreover, the location was easily accessible from the train station, and the picturesque 20-minute walk past charming coffee shops and scenic streets added to the overall charm of the experience. Needless to say, everything about this class exceeded my expectations, making it a highlight of our trip. Highly recommended for sushi enthusiasts of all levels!

I had an amazing experience learning how to make sushi with, Kana. I learned so much about the subtle details that go into making the rice just right. She was very patient and made sure we all made our sushi right. The location and space were also very inviting. I left there feeling like I could make sushi when I get back to the states. I went expecting one thing and left with so much more! If you are undecided about booking this experience, do not hesitate! Thank you, Kana!

This was an excellent way to spend a morning in Kyoto. The class was small (only four people), the building was beautiful and Kana and her assistant Mayu were very friendly, attentive and very knowledgable. The sushi we made was delicious and we left extremely full. We would highly recommend this class!

This is one of the best food making tours I’ve been on. Kana and her assistant were absolutely fantastic hosts. We learnt about different traditions whilst learning how to make 3 kinds of sushi which was all delicious. Very clean, hygienic and well thought out food class. Thank you so much!

I saw a reel on instagram regarding this sushi class in Kyoto, and I knew I had to book this experience with my friends right away! And believe me, it does NOT disappoint! Being THE most hospitable, not to mention THE most accomodating, team I've met, Kana-san, Kerim-san and Mayu-san have exceeded our expectations. Their way of teaching was very easy to follow and very interactive as Kana-san go around the table to check if anyone is in need of help. Assisting Kana-san, Kerim-san and Mayu-san had prepared and organized the next supplies efficiently (making smooth transitions to the next segment) and made sure that we had enough space to work on during the class. Also, Kerim-san was kind enough to take our photos while we were in action. Besides teaching how to make sushi, they had shared their knowledge on Japanese history and culture as well as recommendations on what to visit or where to purchase things. Plus, they have sweetest surprise at the end! Overall, these are some people AND an experience you would not want to miss, and I highly recommend getting the class when you visit Kyoto/Fushimi. Thank you, Kana-san, Kerim-san, and Mayu-san for giving us an amazing fun time and for sharing us your passion! We loved every moment of it!!

Kana’s sushi making workshop was such an amazing all round experience - not only did we learn how to make (and eat) delicious sushi but we learnt so much about Japanese history and life in Kyoto and heard some awesome stories from Kana. Such a warm and welcoming environment and I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face being in Kana’s presence. Very convenient to pair with Fushimi inari shrine as it includes eating the sushi for lunch as well. Kana literally has thought of everything and makes it very easy for everyone.

This was very well done and fun. We highly recommend it if you are interested in taking a short sushi class. It also is within walking distance of Thousand Tori Gates so it’s a perfect way to spend part of your day.

Take home a sushi experience that will give you the skills to replicate a bit of Japan after you have returned home! Kana and her team have put together a beautiful and fun sushi making lesson, set in a serene space, located in a lovely residential neighborhood. Kana was a delightful and very engaging host who was eager to share some of her culture and just as interested to learn more about ours. You will leave feeling very full once you’ve eaten your creations but you can easily walk it off by visiting some beautiful temples nearby. Our teens loved the experience and are looking forward to trying out their new skills at home!

Terrific! Kana is a wonderful teacher who not only teaches you bout Sushi, but gets to know you, and you get to know her. Great to interact with a local. In a nice house in a residential area. We’d made sushi before, but as we discovered, not correctly. Go hungry - plenty of sushi to eat!

This class is a must do when coming to Japan. Our teacher Kana was a lovely host, so welcoming. The class was 6 people & we got to make nigiri and temaki. It was lovely to learn about the culture and taste the fresh fish straight from nishki market. One of the best experiences for a good price as well. This is the best value for money compared to other sushi classes
