We had so much fun learning how to surf for the first time - it was a 1 on 1 experience so the guides were able to provide feedback to help you improve and be successful. Everyone was very supportive and seemed genuinely excited when you succeeded. Highly recommend!

Antonio is a great surfing coach. He gave me a few perfect hints thanks to which I was able to surf really big waves on my own!

We had deliberately chosen the more expensive 3-hour offer from Dante over a cheaper 2-hour offer because we wanted to surf longer. There was a short briefing on site where I had to demonstrate the movement only once. That was it. In the water, the teachers were very nice and there was 1-on-1 supervision and it was fun. At some point we were told that this was the last wave and we went back to the beach. There we were given pineapples and that was it. No further information about whether it was over or what was going to happen next. At this point 1.20 hours had passed from the pick-up to the return to the beach. We therefore asked if it would continue because we had paid for 3 hours. However, we were only told that it would only be 1 hour, but that they would ask the boss. A short time later, Dante himself appeared and asked us about our experience. We told him that we had expected to spend more time in the water. We know that the trainers can't be in the water with us for 3 hours, but we could have taken a 1 hour break and then continued again. Dante then offered us the chance to come back the next day and get a free surfing lesson. We accepted the offer and showed up on time at the stated time. Due to our further plans, we drove to the beach ourselves. When we got there, nobody knew anything. Since the situation was already strange and we felt stupid, we went back and wrote to Dante. We didn't get a reply. In total, everyone paid $70 for less than an hour of surfing and a stupid feeling. Later on our vacation, we had another surfing course in Jaco, which only cost $40 per person and was much better and we spend nearly 2 hours in the Water with a trainer who really teached us, so we could even try to catch a wave on our own.

The instructors were patient and made sure everyone was surfing pretty quickly. The instructors were friendly and really know what they are doing. We all had a blast!

This was a great surfing experience. The teachers were kind and knowledgeable. They took great photos as well. I highly recommend for any family looking to learn to surf in a beautiful location.

We really enjoyed our surfing lessons with the instructors at Dante’s! They were awesome with our teenager and were very encouraging to get all of us up in the board at least once. The drone and photos were extra and well worth it.

This is an unforgettable experience! My kids and I had never surfed before, and were all a bit hesitant, but knew that Costa Rica was the place to give this a try. It was amazing! We each had our own instructor and they worked with us at our own comfort level. They were very encouraging as they guided you through the whole experience and made you feel at ease and confident. Definitely give this a try if you are visiting the area!

We had such an awesome time surfing with Dante's Watersports. We took lessons in the morning and we're the only ones. Even though we signed up for group lessons, they have my son and I individual instructors. The instructors, Raul and Samuel [sic], we're very clear and have good examples on what to do and what not to do. They got us both up on waves the very first time and we're very enthusiastic and encouraging. This was a great way to end our trip!

My husband and my four kids booked a surfing lesson with Dante. The kids are 13, 11, 9 and 7. All of us are beginners or had only done it once. Every one of us had their own super friendly surf instructor who stayed with us in the water all the time. Told us when to catch a wave, when to stand up and helping the little ones to pull the board back to the correct spot. That made us all feel very safe and relaxed and also successful so that every one managed to stand on the board a couple of times. After the approximately one hour lesson, Dante provided beach loungers and chairs, fruit and water. We were then able to use boogie boards free of charge as well and Dante made sure we stayed in safe waters and always looked out for the kids. Round trip to the hotel and rash guards for the duration of the time at the beach were provided. Extremely good experience!

My boys (12 &14) have surfed before but my husband and I have not. Great instruction, demo and practice prior to getting in the water. Instructors were so kind, helpful with feedback and patient. Happy to report we all caught some waves! Thanks for a fun morning!

Great experience for the kids. The kids learned to surf in a short period of time. My youngest daughter liked it so much that we returned the next day to surf again. Very friendly staff that made it fun for all of us. Also the camera guy did a wonderful job taking pictures with his SLR and drone..Would highly recommend this

We didn't even have this on our list when we headed to Costa Rica but decided to do it on a whim. We are a family of 4 with 2 teenage daughters. We are not in the best physical shape right now (not the worst either) and I was concerned about how well we'd be able to do because it surfing seems pretty physically taxing, but it was SOOO much fun and I would 100% do it again. Our instructors were amazing and we were all able to get up on our boards multiple times! They were patient, kind and fun! My husband is not a strong swimmer and honestly you don't go so far out that it was much of a concern at all. If you are on the fence...just do it! You won't regret it!

Being my first ever attempt at surfing, I was really happy to have a 1:1 instructor. My instructor was Antonio and he was positive, encouraging, and always made me feel safe and cared for. 11/10 for him! The waves were quite intense/large, but he worked hard to make sure I got a few good rides in. My friend's instructor, Jorge, was a bit older and made her come in early which was super disappointing. She ended up sitting for half of our 1.5hr time with the company. We were provided with rash guards for our lessons, and some water and pineapple at the end. They also had a guy taking photos with a camera and a drone, but I haven't received mine yet to be able to comment on them.

Loved everything about this! Great instructor (Raul), learned a ton and had the best time! Pickup and dropoff transportation was on time, very accommodating.

We had a great experience with Dante's! It was our first time surfing and something I've always wanted to try. It was me, my husband, and our 3 kids ages 5, 8, and 10. Each child had a dedicated instructor and they were so good with them, particularly our 5 year old who isn't a great swimmer! I even got sick from breakfast (I ate before the pickup so unrelated!) during our excursion and they were very understanding and kind.

My family had a great time surfing. It was nice plus you can rent chairs for the day when done and hang around however the negative is this beach you get hounded by people trying to sell you something every 5 minutes. A BIG turn-off to me as it was our last day and we just wanted some peace. The surf lessons were a success and I like that someone took photos (I am a photographer and always happy to have someone else take photos so I can sit back and enjoy). I gladly purchased all of them at the end. I did not surf but wanted to spend the day with my family so for a small fee they included me in the pick-up to watch and relax in the sun. The only thing promised but not delivered was the fresh fruit they offered so don't count on that. The driver was a bit terrifying (burst accelerations and sudden stops). Costa Rica is a hectic place on the road with no shoulder, pedestrians on the street, motorcycles, mopeds, bikes you name it and it can be nerve-wracking depending on the driver you get.

Our surf instructor, Antonio, made surfing easy. Simple instructions with one guide per person, this lesson was fun and rewarding. We were offered an extended beach day which included lounge chairs and relaxation. An added bonus is that this area of the beach is pretty quiet so there was lots of free space.

Great time had by all. Great surf instructors! Stayed the rest of the day on the beach as we rented chairs from them too. Very nice waves and had lots of fun.

We had a great experience from start to finish. I messaged some questions prior to our lesson and received prompt and thorough responses. They picked us up exactly on time from our Airbnb and provided surf shirts for us to protect our upper body. Our instructors were kind, patient, knowledgeable, and gave us individualized 1 on 1 help in the water. They were with us in the water the whole time helping us to navigate waves, time the waves, and stay safe. After our lesson they gave us fresh water, pineapple, and let us stay on the lounge chairs nearby as long as we wanted to continue to enjoy the beach. Overall a really wonderful experience.
