Amazing experience with Platypus Tours. It was a fabulous small groups tour experience. Highly recommended.

My wife and I came to Napa for a long weekend to have fun before I began a business trip and were so glad to find Platypus Tours. We previously had taken their Napa Valley winery tour and loved it so wanted to use them again to see Sonoma. We didn’t want to rent a car so finding a tour that would pick us up at the Napa hotel and drive us for the day was exactly what we were looking for since Sonoma isn’t real close by. We were met promptly at 0945 at our hotel (Springhill Suites) by our guide driving a fair-sized bus. Our guide was Army and he was excellent. He was incredibly knowledgeable about wine and the region but also kept us all laughing throughout the day with his sense of humor. We drove around and picked up several other groups and then got started. I think we were scheduled to see 3 wineries but Army threw in a fourth as well so we went to: Mayo, Deerfield Ranch, Wellington and lastly Ty Caton. All of these locations were very different from one another, but the highlights for us was the amazing Zinfandel Port at Mayo, the huge wine caves at Deerfield Ranch and the quality of the wine at Ty Caton. While we were at Deerfield Ranch for our second stop we had prepackaged lunches that Army brought in from the bus and had a great wine tasting and lunch in the caves. Army did a great job driving, talking to us about the region as well as setting up all the tastings. Our hosts at the wineries were all excellent and really tried to cater to what we liked and didn’t like. The drive back from Sonoma to Napa was about an hour and Army stopped so we could buy snacks and took great care of us. At the end of the day, he offered to either drop us off downtown Napa or take us to the door of our hotel which was a really nice touch. Everything about the day was great from logistics, lunch and our guide Army. There was a wifi issue that resulted in a few extra charges to my credit card, but Platypus rectified it the next day and called me to explain the overcharge and subsequent refund quickly. This was the second Platypus tour we took that week and really enjoyed both. Highly recommend this tour group!

We had a great time and so thankful we booked this tour. Pick-up and drop-off are just a start. We got so many “extras” at the hand-picked amazing wineries we visited thanks to Platypus. We toured some beautiful properties, learned a lot about wine making and tasting, and it was a perfect day! Felt like a VIP at every stop. Will book again and again with Platypus. They keep a list of wineries you have visited and won’t take you to the same ones on your next visit. Made great friends with the other folks on the tour. I’ve booked a lot of things on Viator. This was my favorite of all!

Sam is truly the perfect guide if you want to understand and connect with real Sonoma winemaking. Engaging, funny, and informative, he brings the history, science, and art of winemaking to life by sharing his connections with three low-volume high-quality vintners in a way that made the day one of our most memorable and enjoyable in a very long time!

Such a fun experience. You board the bus with strangers and make friends by the end day. We visited 3 wineries all of which were well prepared to host guests. Lovely atmospheres at each location. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the process of wine making which made the trip more interesting. Definitely recommend.

Fun group, one of the three wineries was fantastic and would definitely go back to visit . The other two were only ok and not worth the tasting fees. Our tour went over 2 hours longer than stated so plan for flexibility in your evening plans. Tour bus was in ok condition and seating was tight for the size group we had.

It was such a fun day with great wines. Great value for the price! The tour guide was very informative and upbeat. Lunch was great. If you enjoy great wine and making new friends it’s a wonderful tour! Very fun!

The perfect trip! Our driver, Gary planned a fabulous day of visiting 3 smaller, family-owned wineries in Sonoma. We had a group of about 10 people comprised of different smaller groups. Each group was picked up and returned to their hotel or rental property. Gary was able to tell us details about each winery we visited while we were on route and general information about the areas we were passing through. Each winery gave us a standard tasting and usually an extra pour or two and sometimes deals on bottles / tastings. Gary made the whole experience relaxing by keeping us on time, taking pictures, offering water, keeping track of purchases we made and more. The lunch included in the tour was delightful and they were able to accommodate the gluten-free member of our party. I couldn't recommend this tour enough and will certainly take it again next time I'm in Sonoma.

This tour group is a MUST use! They were in contact with me from the moment I signed up, making sure of our pick up location, emailing and calling even up to the morning before pick up. They made us feel comfortable from the start! Army, our driver, was an absolute joy to be with! He gave history lessons, showed us all the fun stuff along our drive, and was even prepared with charging cables for our phones! We loved each winery that was chosen for our day. The group was intimate enough so we could enjoy conversation. This was just an absolute blast and we would do it again!

This was an amazing day with a fun group of people. We visited three small wineries completely off the beaten path. I highly recommend Platypus.

This was a great tour. The tour guide, Andy, was very knowledgeable and even knew the best locations to take pictures. The vineyards that we went too were all smaller and we we wouldn't have found them without this tour. The group was small but very low key, perfect for a girls weekend away. The experience was great, the wine was great, the value was great. I can not speak highly enough of this!

Our driver, Rob was very friendly and knowledgeable about the vineyards we visited and wine in general. We had a fun small group and the provided lunch was good. Excellent vineyard choices.

Our guide Army made the whole experience for us. He was very informative, engaging and a lot of fun. The winery's we visited gave interesting talks by the wine experts and lunch was delicious outside in the shade surrounded by vines full of grapes. Highly recommend this tour.

We enjoyed the small group wine tasting tour. We felt comfortable with the size of the group and were able to chat with everyone with laughs. 2 Out of the 3 wineries were a great experience with beautiful views, interesting facts, welcoming hosts. The 3rd winery was a standard tasting room with no particular group activity. Courtney, our driver, was great! She was in the background and yet took care of us the whole time. Categorized our wine purchases and helped us with anything. Thank you for a great experience.

My first time in CA wine country, Loved it ! Platypus did an excellent job, Courtney our driver was delightful. We visited 3 vineyards as a 10 person group and everyone seemed to enjoy the experience. We spent time with the founders/owners of the first two vineyard's, Trattore Farms & Rickard’s winery, and learned a lot about the business of operating a vineyard and the making of wine. We had a nice lunch and made our way to the third and final vineyard, where we had a typical tasting and less education. We would highly recommend working with Platypus to get a full experience of California Wine Country.

Perfect day! Steven was our driver and he was knowledgeable and fun. We had the perfect mix of small family owned wineries to larger spots with an amazing view. Can’t wait to come back soon.
