The class was comfortably set up in a private home. Our host did a wonderful job describing the wide variety of ingredients and all the specifics involved in preparing each course. Had lots of hands on practice and the grand finale was eating all the delicious food we made.

Easily one of the best experiences I did in my travels around Japan! The teachers were so helpful, patient and accomodating. The class itself is a great balance of showing you what to do, and letting you do so many different things yourself and learning new techniques, and about the food itself. It's a real journey too, from the basics of making a miso, right up to how you can use that to make amazing broth for the wagyu and the base for the egg roll. You also get a very detailed recipe handout, so Im excited to try it at home! I had a brilliant time, and would highly recommend.

First the menu of beef and appetizers was delicious, and not in any way difficult to repeat at home. Ingredients were fresh and high quality. Absolute must, excellent instructor.

We arrived in Tokyo at 6am and went straight to the 9:30am cooking class. Bit difficult to find although it is in a small residential neighborhood near Shinjuku station (we actually thought we were entering someone’s apartment, but the room is custom designed for 8 people and the two very good English speaking cooking instructors. We made 8 dishes over the course of 3 hours and then had a great lunch. Very enjoyable and highly recommended!

This was an absolutely incredible experience for our whole family. The class was informative, interactive, easy to understand, insightful, and very doable for all cooking abilities. The instructors were kind, patient, knowledgeable and positive. The food was all very delicious and we even learned how to present it in a traditional way. The class was three hours and ended with eating everything we'd made - which was a filling lunch. I 100% recommend Sun Cooking!

Great class, learned a ton, would highly recommend. Eat a lil something before you arrive because you don't eat anything until the very end :)

Well run and approachable chef teachers. We learned how to cook a range of yummy dishes which I would never have attempted alone. Interesting information about the ingredients and cooking culture were also shared. Our whole family had fun and ate well.

I have taken 4 cooking sun classes in the 5 weeks I have spent in Japan and we have all been impressed with the quality and organization and teaching of the various classes. I had not planned on taking all those classes but after doing an izakaya cooking class in Kyoto I signed my husband and sometimes my grandchildren for the other classes. We appreciated that all the teachers spoke very good English and were home cooks who were comfortable with food and patient with the grandchildren (10 and 12) and included them throughout the class. The food was delicious and recipes were simple but gave an understanding of a typical Japanese meal. My husband and I did the waygu beef class as he wanted to try cooking after I had taken other classes. I am an avid cook but he totally enjoyed the class and loved how organized and logical it was taught and now he is looking forward to participating back home. Win win for me. Of course this has led to finding the necessary cooking equipment to take back home which has been fun in itself. The class accomodated both our skill levels and I learned as much as he did. Cooking Sun does a very good job at what it offers and all the teachers and helpers we met were personable and very knowledgeable and you end up with a great meal at the end of the class. I highly recommend trying a class with them as a fun way to spend an afternoon and learning something new and bringing home something new to try. The only thing a little difficult is finding the location so leave a little early to get there. Oh and I should mention that we met great people from all over the world while we were at it. Thanks cooking sun Wendy from Canada

My family and I loved the kaiseki cooking class. Our instructors who are fluent English speakers are super nice and really took time to explain the details behind how a dish is prepared, and the subtle tips to ensure it comes out perfectly. Along the way, you gain the knowledge of preparing a beautiful, tasty and impressive multi-course kaiseki dinner which we got to savor at the end of the class. We can't wait to try to make the same dinner for our friends when we get home. They will be super impressed. Overall, I think the class is a perfect balance of demonstration, explanation and hands-on work. The small class size lends itself well to asking questions and moving along at just the right pace. The location of the class was central and easy to find and very close to several metro stations. We learned and we had fun. Highly recommend this class.

It was such a wonderful experience. The food turned out great with everyone participating in preparation. Megumi and Yuka were excellent teachers and walked the class through every step. The explanations of the ingredients and their significance within the dishes was informative.
