I never write reviews but this was an awesome experience and I want to express my gratitude to Capt. Brendon and crew member MJ! They made the experience enjoyable. The entire day was easy and it was perfect amount of time and they had everything we needed. There were only 9 of us on the boat and it was perfect seating. Capt Brendon was so knowledgeable and MJ was great at making sure everything we needed was taken care of. Such a great way to spend an afternoon!

We booked this trip after being on the manta ray night trip. Both were amazing experiences. While I was very reticent at first to dive into the ocean, they helped me gain my courage and brought an amazing experience. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and made this a very personal experience. I will definitely be going back.

This was a great snorkeling trip to three sites located in the south Kona area. Our guides, Adam and Brennan, were great and provided for a safe and comfortable trip for my family of five. All three sites were in calm water and visibility was awesome. We saw a lot of tropical fish, some eels and even green sea turtles at cleaning stations. Two of the sites were coral reefs and one site was more of a rocky environment. All were interesting to snorkel at. Thanks for a great experience!

We had a super experience on a beautiful day. Captain Brendan and First Mate MJ did a really good job of being attentive to our needs and experience, but not being overbearing. We were treated to seeing pilot whales on the way to the first spot. We snorkeled Two Step and then on to a second location which was not the preferred spot. Final location was Captain Cook and it was great. A nice lunch was provided on the boat. Final treat was seeing spinner dolphins on the way in. Would highly recommend this team and company.

Our two 16 year old granddaughters and my husband went on this tour. It was well organized and implemented from our first call to the end of the tour. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The emailed materials were clear and specific. The snorkeling was excellent and included three different spots. The information provided by the guides was very informative both about the area and the actual snorkeling. We would highly recommend this experience to anyone who is interested in an exceptional snorkeling experience.

For me, this was the highlight of our 14 day 3 island vacation. The water clarity couldn't have been better with almost 100' of visibility. We travelled the coastline to 3 different locations. We spent 45 minutes at each and when asked at the end which was my favorite, I honestly couldn't choose. Each was spectacular in it's own way. Snacks, water and juices were available between stops with a lunch provided after the last. After lunch we headed towards deeper waters where we saw a pod of Pilot Whales and 2 White Tipped Reef Sharks. Unbelievably, Kaitlynn from the crew got in the water with a GoPro to record the whales (including a mama and calf) as well as the sharks! She later sent the videos to us. Highly recommended!

If you want a boutique snorkel experience with only a few (about 15 total on our trip) guests, this is the tour for you. Everything about this trip smacked of professionalism, from the check in process to the on time return. We couldn't have been happier with our crew, Capt. Brendon and Kaytlin (hope I spelled that correctly!). They took great care of us, and were exceptionally knowledgable about every aspect of the tour, from the aquatic wildlife, to the history of the island and her people. We went to three dive sites (Place of Refuge, a secret spot I won't reveal, and Kealakekua Bay), all of which were excellent, and had about 30-40 minutes to snorkel per site. Lots of fish, some sea turtles, and we saw a giant yellow margin moray eel. We also stopped at several rugged coastal rock formations on the way back and watched the Pacific surf pound itself against the shore. Plenty of snacks, fruit, and a tasty included lunch, this was definitely worth the money. Recommend renting a wet suit shorty if you're there outside of the summer as it does get cold on the boat between sites.

All was good, fabulous weather, cool snorkeling spots we nearly had to ourselves, good equipment, fun captain and crew, snacks, adventurous boat ride... We saw loads of different fish you can look up in a reader on the boat, saw sea turtles and two different kinds of dolphins. Could not have been better!!

The Expedition South Kona snorkeling experience with Sea Quest was top notch. It was a small group of 12 guests plus a crew of two, Brendan (captain) and Libby. We went to 3 different snorkeling spots with some stops on the way where Brendan shared information about the history of the area, the wildlife, and Hawiian legends. Libby made sure all of our equipment was in good shape and functioning properly, assisted with getting in and out of the boat or anything else anyone needed. Both Libby and Brendan were freindly and available to answer any questions people had. The fish in all 3 locations were beautiful and plentiful. We were also lucky to see turtles, bottle nose dolphins and spinner dolphins. We enjoyed a good lunch and snacks on the boat and left the dock and arrived back on time. The Sea Quest staff was professional, friendly and organized. I would do this again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it. Be sure to bring your reef-safe sunscreen!

We had a wonderful time!! It was one of the highlights of our trip to the Big Island. Brendan and MJ were fabulous…so nice, knowledgeable and accommodating. All three snorkeling locations were just beautiful and all different. We saw so many kinds of stunning coral and fish, plus dolphins, a manta-ray and a turtle. Would highly recommend this trip!!!

I had done a tour earlier in the week with my family with Cap Skyler and Courtney and they were so impressive I went back for more. I was a lil sad that we had a different captain and crew. Kevin and Libby did not disappoint. They were prepared and had a great process and I really appreciated how organized and ready they are. It is so seamless and easy to be on a boat with this company. The three snorkel spots each had their own jewels, fish, turtles, sharks, octopus-you know just ocean magic. They knew so much about the land, water and history it was a treat to just chat. I also want to say Kevin as a captain on this day deserves a special shout out. They let you swim around the area and explore as long as you stay in the boundary they set. If you have any concern about getting lost or them losing track of you DON'T! Once all of the folks on our tour were loaded back up Kevin and Libby were chatting about a couple swimmers in the water and a man who had climbed up on the rocks. I heard him say that the way they were acting had caught his eye and he'd been watching them. Ultimately, he made a decision to go check on them and they had swum from a bay, about 2 miles by water and were exhausted, cut up and had no plan of how they were going to get back given the distance. You can hike up from Captain Cook, but it's 2+ miles with 1500 feet of elevation gain in the open with no shade. He picked the man up off the shore and woman from the water and delivered them to the bay they had swum from. I know he'd say it's his obligation as a captain, but not one other boat of the 5-6 that were there offered aid. He said folk on the rocks like that often end up with a Coast Guard rescue. It's great the Coast Guard is available to do that, but it's a resource that should be used with great care. The couple was thankful, and Kevin was graceful and kind. Not one person on the boat was put off and he assured us we would still see caves and have plenty of time for the rest of the tour (not that anyone was concerned about it). He went from hero to Cave tour master in the blink of an eye and we had an amazing time for the remainder of the tour. How often do you snorkel, lunch, tour AND have a sea rescue? I also want to thank Libby for the shark tip she gave my boys (14 and 17), they were thrilled to swim through rock formations and peek in on two dozing reef sharks. They also let the boys be boys and play a little while other guests ate lunch trying to master their water entry techniques from the boat. When I first started looking at tours the website was so well done, I was suspicious it was a large off island cooperation that ran tours, but nope! Small local owned business that really cares about the ocean the land and their guests.

My son (15) and I love snorkeling and had a great time on this trip. The captain Brendan and guide Zack were super friendly and really showed a passion for sharing their experience and knowledge of the island. We made frequent stops along the tour for Brendan to tell asbout sights and landmarks like lava tubes and caves in the cliffs. His knowledge of the history of the island was also impressive. Zack to great care to make sure equipment was ready at every snorkeling stop so we could make the most of our time. The places we went were superb and they both gave great tips on where to focus while in the water for the best sightings. I can’t say enough positive things about the experience we had!

We had an amazing experience with Captain Brendan and Morgan. The locations were amazing, there were lots of variety of fish and sealife and we even saw dolphins on the way. But what made the tour really fantastic was the crew. They were really caring, knowledgeable, and entertaining. Morgan was super knowledgeable about the local sealife and very attentive. She did a great job keeping things in order and making everyone feel safe and comfortable. One thing that many people might miss is that Brendan is a seriously skilled captain. Our group was pretty complicated, it was windy so many people were feeling seasick but the children on board were scared of going fast in order to minimize the rocking. Brendan handled it really well and my girlfriend noted that he was pulling some impressive tricks with the engine between waves to keep the boat steady without going too fast. Mad props to the crew!

Brandon took us to several great snorkeling areas, all with lively, witty, commentary. The fast boat ride was awesome as well.

It was an awesome experience of snorkeling. Our family with 2 kids (14 and 11 year old) took their south Kona tour and everyone rated this as their top 1 adventure of the trip. We had enough time to snorkel and saw a lot of fish. Our captain stopped at other places and narrated information of those places. Snacks and lunch were good too.

We had a wonderful time snorkeling at three different stops. We were able to see a variety of fish and a sea turtle. The whole family enjoyed it immensely. It was one of the top events of our trip.
