I’ve done three walks with Clarisse so far and I’m going to do a lot more because it’s a superb way to get to know the city, explore it, know about its history and curiosities. Clarisse is an extremely competent, thoughtful and funny pro, with her charisma and knowledge you will learn a lot about the city in a pleasant and lively way.

Arcade Historic Tours - Hongkou Walk. We've been on numerous walks with Arcade and their walking tours never disappoint! Expert guide, Clarisse, always has so many anecdotes and fun details to share during these walks as we discover different areas of the inner city of Shanghai. It always amazes us how much knowledge she has of places and the people who once inhabited them. I think they should come out with a guidebook of Arcade walks! A little bonus ending to this great tour was a lovely visit to a shop, akin to the cavern of Alibaba, filled with trinkets and treasures from Shanghai's past. Clarisse introduced us to the shop-owner who is a passionate collector of antique relics from turn of the century Shanghai. We enjoyed a delightful visit browsing his shop and exchanging with him. Such moments and personal encounters always make Arcade tours extra special and stand apart from other walking tours in this city! We highly recommend any of their walking tours, mysterious hunts or Cluedo-style games!

Amazing tour with a great and caring guide! I would recommend it to everyone coming to visit Shanghai, because it's a chance to have a glimpse of everyday life, better understand the city and those who live here, and learn some funny and cool facts along the way. I am afraid you will think it is a fake review when you are reading my review but let’s me try to give you my feedback. If you like cultural visit, it is the best you can do in shanghai so far. I have been leaving here for almost 20 years and we did several visits with Clarisse. And you don’t need to be a history geek to enjoy! I did the Suzhou creek (very good), the old city (also good but I think the old city does not exist anymore..), tintin (also great!),…

Clarisse is a very nice and professional guide and she's always thoroughly prepared for her tours. You can tell she has done a lot of research on her topics as well. She has lived in Shanghai for many years and knows her city better than most Shanghainese. She offers city tours that can be tailored for every customer's need and she delivers them in French, English and Chinese. You can easily tell her job is her passion and every tour is a discovery. Tour themes vary a lot and groups are small which makes it an even nicer experience.

Such a fantastic walking tour, full of life, history, behind the scenes information...Clarisse is a person who clearly loves what she does! She has great passion for the history of this beautiful city, and it shows! We were a small group of 5 people so it was easy to get around, stop at places, ask questions, listen. I learned much more in 2.5 hours than I have in 5 years of living here! It is a crime that these areas of Shanghai are quickly being demolished, to make way for even MORE high-rise apartments & malls. A few weeks ago we had a little journey opening the veil of Shanghai Old City past, but I still remember the smell of old wood and sandal incense burned by someone who lived there once, the image of elegant European style buidings coexisting with small nice Chinese houses, and you can still find there some fancy authentic cornerstones, little windows, doors, balconies, that keep its own secrets we will never know. Hurry up while it's still there! Thanks to our guide Clarisse for wonderful stories and making this evening so magical :)

Very nice and interesting visit of the old “disappearing” Shanghai by night. Clarisse who guided us through the small streets is full of information and small stories about the city and gave a very friendly mood to the visit. I highly recommend it and nice opportunity to take some night pictures of the last few typical streets of the city. I did the visit with my 8 years old son and he enjoyed it a lot.

I absolutely loved our walk and explorations around the old city that slowly disappears. Shanghai has so many stories and finally we were able to hear about them and see what is still left. 2.5 hours flew like 5 minutes! The guide is a magnificent girl who is so passionate about what she does and was able to answer many guestions. Will definitely take another tours with Arcade Experience!

I was living in Shanghai for many years when I decided to do walks with Arcade to learn more about the heritage of this city. I did the French concession and Suzhou River and it was stunning, I just want to do more and more. Clarisse knows a lot about Shanghai and it's history. You will learn a lot about the area you'll visit and never see it the same as before. It fits both new as old residents and open to everyone, a nice moment to share about Shanghai past. Just go for it!

Wonderful walking tour about female spies of Shanghai in the 1930-50’s. We’ve been on a number of walks with Arcade and this one didn’t disappoint again. Always a fun time learning exploring different neighbourhoods of Shanghai through stories filled with colorful characters. Our guide Clarisse amazes with her knowledge of the people and sites that make this city we love.

I have been living in Shanghai for 20 years and I consider myself generally knowledgeable about the city and it’s history, and still found the tour just fabulous and insightful! Totally suitable with kids too. Will be back for another tour soon in the spring.

I joined the Shanghai spys walking tour. The whole course was very good, especially the detailed explanation about women spys in 1930~50s was best.

A morning of mystery in Shanghai....we decided to go for cluedo. This activity allow you to discover SH another way. We were a group of 11 and we split in 2 teams. 3 hours going from one place to another in the french concession. Each emplacement has its challenge, clue and an historical explanation. Really nice to do with friends, between colleagues or with family. Love it. thank you arcade!
