Just amazing we had a fantastic guide the weather played its part and was beautiful the lake was a sheet of glass. Stunning views back to Frans Joseph glacier and the mountain ranges Seamless planning and organised by the tour co just a few minutes ride from the village our 16 and 12 year old loved it and we spend a lot of time on our own lake so this said it all. Great fun family morning out we paddled across the lake and up a stunning creek where we were guided by a Fantail and lots of birdsong very tranquil (apart from the kids having a spat at each other 🤣) Recommend

This was one of my favorite activities in Franz Josef. Our guide, Pickles, was extremely relaxed and competent. He was filled with enthusiasm and appreciation for nature. The kayaks and gear were excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the lake, its lore and the birds.

This was the last sunset tour for the season and as our first guided activity in New Zealand we weren’t sure what to expect. This was an easy kayak and suitable for novices. We were all in double kayaks and the afternoon we went the lake was very calm and flat. In total about 7 km. Great commentary, experienced guides. Rug up, it was a bit chilly and make sure you have repellant for the sandflies.

Outstanding views, knowledgeable tour guide, and charming company! Our guide, "Pickles," did his best to inform, inspire, and delight us the entire time. He sure helped mend our disappointment when inclement weather prevented our Heli-hike to the glacier. Highly recommend this company!

It is a very nice experience. There was a breeze, so we had to kayak against the wind initially and I’m a pretty horrible kayaker and was kayaking with 11 year old, so the guide had to tow us. I was so thankful to the guide for the help. The lake itself is beautiful and you see a forest that is thousands years old. Learn about kiwis and conservation efforts. My only tip is for the parents: if you are coming with kids, ask for an adult kayak “skirt”. The kids version doesn’t protect against water and you end up with a super miserable kid, that sits in a puddle of freezing water for 2 hours. I wish I knew that, it would save us a lot of misery (for the kids).

My husband and I did the 3 hour kayak trip as part of a New Zealand Trails tour. The kayak trip was wonderful! All the employees we came in contact with were excellent, our driver and kayak guides were great! We were the first group on the lake in the morning - SO peaceful!! It was great to have the guides take photos of everyone in the group! We would do this kayak trip again in a heartbeat!!

Relaxing kayaking trip on the lake on a rainy day with lots of wildlife to see along the way especially along the streams/creeks coming off of the lake. Cody the guide was very knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna and was very friendly. The small group size (3 guests) made it feel like a private nature/wildlife kayaking tour. The highlight was getting to see a white heron up close on the water during our kayaking tour

Beautiful 3 hour kayak ride on Lake Maporouki. It’s was so peaceful and scenic - sun shining amazing day! Our guide was excellent and shared knowledge of the lake, wildlife and conservation efforts of New Zealand. Really well worth our money and highly recommend this tour! They also include free pictures for us!

Great couple of hours on the lake led by the friendly and knowledgeable Sydney, so peaceful in the early evening. What a fantastic location!

We had a very enjoyable time out on the lake and our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable and the company are very well equipped with everything you need. However, we were booked to go on the 'sunset kayak' but finished around an hour before sunset which was disappointing and not as described. Don't bother bringing snacks,there won't be time to eat them.

As experienced kayakers it was great to be able to hire a double kayak for either 2 or 4 hr to kayak on Lake Mapourika. As a freedom kayaker you are left to your own devices. The hire came with buoyancy devices, a map and pump. As a freedom hire, they did not allow us to use sprayskirt. But that was ok even with the rain. Recommend taking your own PLB as cellphone reception is limited. Well worth kayaking up Mirror Creek! Stunning.

We would highly recommend our Kayak adventure. Staff were great and so informative. Beautiful views, glad we done it.

We had a fantastic time on our sunset cruise with Dylan. We were really lucky to have him all to ourselves and he was really knowledgeable about the wildlife and nature, but also about the history of New Zealand. He was great with the kids and you can tell he just really loves what he does. Also made a difference to us to know that the owners treat their employees well. Overall, a fabulous experience for our whole family.

The guides were wonderful but this is a rather boring and unattractive lake to kayak on. The water is brown and not much to see in the way of scenery. There are many places that are much better for a kayak tour. The free photos were a nice touch.

Even for someone slightly scare of open water, the trip ws easy and relaxing. Our guide was wonderful and very imformative. We didn't get as close to th glacier as teh picture seems but it was still fun. Great tour! I higly recommend.

Had a great paddle in a gentle rain! Very enjoyable. Our guide Dillon was very good. Kayaks were very stable and easy to paddle. Though we did not have views of the mountains due to low clouds the scenery around the lake was wonderful

The rain was pouring on the day of our kayak tour, but that didn´t stop the trip and honestly, I think I enjoyed it even more than I would in sunny weather. The place looked like a fairytale, with fog covering the jungle around us and a rainbow at the end of our tour. We could see a bonus part of the lake and get pretty close to the super-rare white herons. The company has special access to the forest in the protected area which they maintain and which we hiked through and then had a hot chocolate at the lake. The kayaks were surprisingly stable and the water was not very cold either. Many thanks to our great tour guide Linda, who also taught us many new things along the way.

We enjoyed an evening kayak tour and it was fabulous, especially the landscapes! The guides were nice, and had good little piece of information about the environment :) A very nice time there!

Our guides were knowledgeable. The scenery was lovely. The pace was easy. A good time was had by all. I recommend this activity.
