The enthusiasm and knowledge of the host was impressive and his jokes made us laugh. The gladiator fights were energetic and realistic and the mime and dancing were entertaining The wine and snacks were tasty and the museum aptly gruesome. The only downside was the mosquitoes. The organisers are aware of this and if you ask, will let you use some spray but there are no warnings about this, so you don't know until you've been bitten. Would I go again? Yes but I would cover myself in mosquito spray first.

Fantastically knowledgeable. I, from Sweden, became positive about the whole thing. If one were to see any development opportunity, perhaps a welcome drink and souvenir sales

Regrettably, my experience left much to be desired. While the show's description held promise, the execution fell short in terms of quality. The actual gladiator performance lasted a mere 10 minutes and lacked the anticipated excitement. I apologize for my candid review, but I believe in honesty. I do believe that families with children under the age of 10 might find it enjoyable.

This is one of the favorite activities in Rome for our boys. They attended the gladiator school in 2020, and we recently went to the live performance in the evening, which was very professional and entertaining. Before the performance, a cast member gave a brief and informative tour of the museum on site.

We saw the show after visiting the Colosseum during the day. The show and the museum helped us relate better to the life of the gladiators during the Roman era

No memorable moments, extremely average at best. Location hard to get to & from. The Gladiator show was appalling, only about 5 minutes of supposed Gladiators in combat, which was so underwhelming as a spectacle.

Very friendly and welcoming hosts at the Gladiator School. Excellent museum of artefacts and explanation of gladiator history with plenty of interaction for the children in the group. Entertaining show of dance and Gladiatorial combat. Pleasant tot of wine and small snacks. Thank you to all involved for making it a great evening.

As a quick summary (but please read the review!): Excellent Show *Knowledgeable and friendly staff *Taste of wine and food *Great Gladiator show Show - (our 9 year-old daughter enjoyed it as did we!!) *Little out of the way (but return taxi's arranged by venue) *Would DO it again! I booked this event as an 'added' event when arranging my families trip to Rome, it was something that we had not seen before and weren't sure on just how good it would be - Turned out it was one of the best things we did on our holiday. (Please note that i have been to Rome on numerous occasions, so have explored many places, this isn't a review written by someone who doesn't know anything about the city) The event started with a tour of their on site museum (it is small, just a large room but was packed with loads of items depicting items form the roman era.) The host was very knowledgeable, and entertaining, and included wider history from before the Romans. After the tour we had some food and wine (water for the kids), which was small, but it was only meant to provide an idea of the food at the time. The actual show was great, (not wanting to spoil anything), but, there was a mixture of games and other period 'in arena' displays. My wife and i enjoyed the atmosphere and my daughter (nine) really had a great time (including crowd engagement). I was even made a roman citizen ;) After the show the people were willing to take pictures in costume, and answer questions Overall FANTASTIC!!! I feel i must point out a small downside, as the event is held at a venue which is a little out of the way. We did walk to the site (we stayed in an apartment next to the Colosseum), but would not recommend it. This said the organizers arranged taxi's for those who needed it so did not have the worry about that - this taxi ride was only 17 Euros)

Be prepared to be eaten alive by mosquitoes! Performance very Ham, although the hosts are extremely welcoming and kind. Down a dirt track and in the middle of nowhere. The wine and Roman food promised is a shot glass size and some bread with a little honey. It has sooo much potential to be an amazing tourist attraction, theatre and museum, but at the moment is just a bit cheap and disappointing. The local wildlife (mosquitoes) enjoy themselves immensely, after 2 hours I returned to my hotel with over 50 bites. 🥺

My adult son and I attended this show. It was AWESOME! Making it especially wonderful was tour guide Titus (real name Giacomo). His knowledge of ancient Rome and gladiators was exceptional. The show was truly like going back in time to ancient Rome. It was above and beyond our expectations. Highly recommend! 5 stars to the show and to each of the actors and actresses.

Really great! Super fun way to spend an evening. Needs to be more known. Little museum, a few snacks (and wine), and a great show. Performers are enthusiastic and very friendly. Only E25! Can’t be bear!

We went Sunday and had a great time. The organisers where very friendly and obviously love doing their roles. Great for the price and great bits of role play with swords. Well worth doing if you like Gladiators and roman history.

The performance of the Gruppo Storico Romano is really worthwile a visit. First you get some history, based upon cooperation with the University of Roma and after a small snack they took you to the old fights in the arena. Nice performance and the gladiators fight upon death. We did visit the show after our day visit of Roma. Location is good to reach by car or taxi. The show starts at 20:30 so to early for having dinner (Italian time) but they sell hotdogs and hamburgers at the location. It is a bit unfortunate that this show is difficult to find on the internet/ travel websites.

There was no pre drinks and food was just some bread so make sure you eat before going because after the show you have to wait around for them to organise a taxi for you as the venue is out of the way!

Our kids were excited to do this, but they hated it and another child was in tears. Firstly, the history lesson was typical Roman propaganda which I've heard from my own parents and is BS, full of racial comments about conquered nations, justification for murder, graphic explanations of offensive tactics (including how the body of a dead child festering with the plague could be catapulted into a village to spread disease and kill the inhabitants). And this is the tip of the iceberg. They were told "shut up, slaves", and anytime my boys performed less well than another child they were berated for being worse than "just a girl" which was horrible for all participants. If you buy into this BS, maybe you think this is appropriate for young kids. If not, steer clear.

Great night. Well organised with a range of different entertainment along with mock battles. Great family activity for everyone. Love it that it is run by the historical society of Rome, their passion, knowledge and enthusiasm is evident!

Our family recently returned from a Tauck Tour of Italy, including a visit to the Gruppo Storico Romano also known as the Rome Gladiator School. It was truly the highlight of the whole tour for our nine year old son out on his first ever tour trip with Mommy and Daddy. Our tour group drove us to the location and the school is somewhat off the beaten path. It does give the school plenty of room for groups and activities. We first spent some time with our incredibly hard working (and likable) gladiator instructor learning about Roman military equipment and history. It is done in an engaging way for kids and was quite informative for adults as well. They have full size replicas of an amazing range of gladiator equipment accessible to check out. They timed it just right to maximize attention from the kids before they would have become distracted. We then headed to the back area for our gladiator training and combat! They have nice replica benches in the training area for parents with plenty of open dirt space for the kids to train and battle. The area sometimes gets mosquitoes, but they give you plenty of mosquito protection options if you want them. We had no troubles. Our gladiator trainer then went hard to work training each of the kids in basic gladiator skills with lightweight wooden swords and shields. First they learned how to use Roman shields and then moved on to “basic training”. They first received group training in skills, then individual followup. They then showed what they learned for parents and family before moving on to the next training set. The kids got to do practice in pairs to keep them busy while the individual training occurred. The guy did a fine job training and entertaining kids ganging from 8 to 16. After about 30 minutes of good natured training, the kids were ready for their combat matches! Kids of par ability were then given an area to have a 1 on 1 battle with their newly learned skills! The gladiator trainer did a great job to make sure the “battles” were fun, but very safe. The kids thoroughly enjoyed their combats until someone earned five combat points first to be judged the winner. Everyone in the audience cheered them all on to the collective end. To finish, each kid got their own paper “gladiator certificate” showing they completed training matched with their new Roman gladiator name. Each winner earned their “Roman citizenship” certificate to also take home. Overall, I very highly recommend this place to all families with kids. It’s a truly fun and very well done spot. Just make sure you tip your gladiator trainer at the end! Our guy worked like mad and earned every bit of his generous tip. Our son still talks non-stop about Gladiator School when we tell about our trip to Italy to friends. Highly recommended!!!

Enjoyed the show. Fun to watch with friends. The area is far from city center and expect to be taking a taxi back atleast to the closest metro.
