It was fabulous when we viewed it in 2019. Visiting Tokyo again this year. Is it not available any more?

Although the comedy night is billed as being in English it really didn't matter as the comedy was more visual/physical. We saw 6 separate acts over an hour, all were quite different but all hugely entertaining. Particularly enjoyed the jolly sumo sized duo who specialised in "making noises with parts of their bodies".

Amazing show, I absolutely enjoyed the silly and crazy Japanese humor! Every artist performs with such love and dedication, making the show an absolutely unique and amazing crazy Japanese experience. I think this is definitely an aspect of this culture that anyone traveling or living in Japan should experience. I felt I could go over and over again, especially as every week they change the artists. Soooo, I absolutely recommend this show, if you want to spend a great, fun time doing something truly Japanese and out of the beaten path.

If laughter is the best medicine - here's the pharmacy. This is physical comedy with a very Japanese flavour, but it's accessible to everyone. They've made an English show that is on every Wednesday from 7pm. But even if the show was in Japanese, the comedy is largely non verbal and funny beyond words.

Been to Tokyo many times and this time we wanted to do something off the beaten trail. A friend suggested to see a Japanese Comedy show and took us to Shinjuku Comedy Club. We love the high energy of the show and it was funny as heck! You don't need to know any Japanese for this show and good value for a one hour show. We were surprised that some of the acts was on TV before. Very good alternative if your looking for something new! Can't wait to go back next time.

This show has changed my view on Japanese comedy! I usually avoid comedy shows on the television but with this show - I COULD NOT STOP LAUGHING. From the first act until the end, I really enjoyed the performers! No Japanese necessary - the performers made sure that their acts didn't need a lot of explanation or setup. The hour went by so fast, I couldn't believe that it was over so quickly. You can also take photos with the performers after the show and talk to them. With the theater being between Kabukicho and Shinjuku station, it's also a perfect thing to do in between dinner and drinks. Will definitely be back since the performers change weekly!

The most unique thing I’ve seen in a long time! I laughed and clapped all the way through. These guys are crazy in the best sense of the word :))) I don’t remember being entertained like this ever before, it’s a must-see and must-hear :) I can’t even choose which act I loved the best, it’s hilarious, bizarre, crazy and genius! Just go! I can’t explain it :)

Last night was my wife's birthday. To celebrate, we went to Japanese comedy club in Shinjuku, a small city near Toyko. The show lasted for an hour and featured twenty top comedians. It wasn't really a stand up comedy show like in the U.S., it was more of a Japanese variety show We got there about twenty minutes early and there were fifteen people in the audience which wasn't a good sign. This meant that the fate of the evening depended on audience and you couldn't leave without disrupting the performance. It was worth it An emcee in Where's Waldo glasses and "Map of the World" pajamas warmed up the crowd. He billed himself as the "National Anthem Jukebox and could sing the national anthem of any country in the world. He took suggestions from the audience and warbled out their national anthems. I recognized the USA and Canada, but not Slovenia. Pretty amazing stuff. Next were jugglers and a Kabuki actor that kept changing his mask to express different emotions or celebrities like Freddie Mercury, Lady Gaga and Michael Jackson. Another act was three Japanese tumblers in colorful striped sweats. One big guy with an Afro and two smaller guys. They billed themselves as "Big and Smalls" They were hysterical. The little guys climbed on top of the big guy to form various poses and situations. It reminded me of the "Cat in the Hat". This act was followed by a naked Japanese man lying on his back covered only in a table cloth. He "set the table" on his stomach complete with wine classes, coffee cups, plates and utensils and the proceeded to pull the table cloth out without disturbing the place setting. The coffee cup ended up blocking his private parts. Jackie Chang, a Jackie Chan impersonator was next followed by two heavyset Sumo wrestlers. They sprayed their bellies with water and stuck them together to make the sound of a champagne cork. The final act of the performance was a "dolphin love story" This time they used microphones, a basketball pump and surprisingly large navels to make the sounds of mating dolphins. After a few close calls with feedback, they were successful. Try to Imagine two morbidly obese sumo wrestlers, dancing around the stage in rubber dolphin masks, using their wet navels and basketball pumps to make make dolphin mating sounds and you get the picture. It was so surreal I could not stop laughing. Think about it. Every Wednesday night twenty Japaneses comedians come together to do a five minute act. Their best stuff. Where do they work during the day? Do they have normal lives? Are they getting paid for this? When did they discover that they could make dolphin sounds with a basketball pump and their naval?

Did not know what to expect for a “Japanese / English” comedy show. Would we find ourselves lost in translation? Not relatable jokes? No and No! Fortunately, Shinjuku Comedy Club has curated a group of performers (emphasis on ‘performers’, not “stand up comedians”) that can make any nationality or language speaker laugh. Very clean humor with lots of visual components. The performers were respectful and knew how to engage the crowd! I recommend this show for anyone traveling through or staying in Tokyo! SCC 🥳

Hilarious! Many famous comedians we’ve admired online! What a good way to spend the night. Don’t need to speak Japanese, the comedy is all physical and easy to understand.
