Lucy took us and 2 of our 5 year old kids on this hike and it was amazing. She was so friendly, knowledgeable and patient. I think the best part was sampling the edible plants! It was a great experience for adults and children alike. I would definitely return and try another one of their hikes as well!

Brooke was fantastic with my five year old daughter. She was patient while my daughter tallied all the wild flowers Brooke shared with us. She played a senses game with her and had her taste the different plants that were edible. We happened to be the only two on the walk and she accommodated and earlier time which was better for us. We had a great time!

Miss Debbie was amazing with the kids and answered all their questions. We learned things we didn’t know and the hike was easy. All of us had no issues hiking and we’re keep entertained with her stories. If you have kids and want to do a hike I would recommend this one. When back in town we would do another with them.

Super easy and clear directions given during booking made finding the destination simple and straightforward. Debbie was a pleasure to work with right from the start, extremely engaging and attentive to the kids, and so knowledgeable with her background as a park ranger. She was even OK with our many photo ops, and my five year old’s incessant need to talk constantly. She really kept my seven year old’s interest. Only caveat was that from our cabin in pigeon Forge it was a 45 minute drive, but it was a beautiful road nonetheless.

This was just outstanding. We learned so much. The pace was outstanding and our guide tailored his presentation to what was available and the interests of our group. Outstanding.

Our family had an excellent hike in the Smoky Mountains! It is one of my favorite memories from the trip. Our trail guide was fantastic x10! He was so engaging, knowledgeable, and fun. Our little explorers want to know even more about nature now. Thank you!

We highly recommend the children’s hike with A Walk in the Woods! My 3 and 5 year old learned a ton, and had so much fun. Our guide Megan took us on a hike perfect for my preschoolers but also fun and informative for the adults in the family. W caught salamanders and found evidence of bears that we never would have noticed without Megan pointing it out. This was definitely a highlight of our trip!

Sam, our guide was wonderful with the 2 children as well as the adults. We had a nice hike at a pace that allowed us to experience all aspects of nature. Some of the highlights were feet in the creek, walking on bridges, salamander hunting, the last of the trilliums, chewing on a birch twig, seeing where settlers kept their milk and butter.... the girls were quoting Sam at dinner that evening!

Thank you, Michael!! We went with our 3, 4, and 6-year old children and were nervous that they wouldn't be able to keep up (even though the tour was geared towards children). Michael was so patient, helpful, and informative. It was my husband's favorite part of our trip, and my children all loved walking through the mountains! They got to facepaint with the rocks and jump over rivers through the rocks. Thank you for a wonderful time!!!

Ms. Debbie was great! Made our hike fun for us and our little guy, and made it work despite the area being a little flooded from the recent rain. Great time in the outdoors!

So happy we booked with a Walk in the Woods, we had a wonderful time! Our tour guide, Dylan, was extremely knowledgable, informative, had a great interaction with both kids and adults, was very patient (we faced unusual heavy traffic on our way to the meeting point and were extremely late), and brought us to a trail we would have never been able to find on our own. The kids got to eat plants and leafs, and still talk about the trees they learned about! This was by far my favourite activity from our Fall Break week in the Smokey Mountains and I thank Dylan and the Walk in the Woods group for that. We will definitely be back, and request Dylan as our guide!

We did a "children's hike" with A walk in the woods. It was initially sold out and I had given up hope that I didn't book far enough in advance (apparently October is peak season at Smoky Mountains) but it is helpful to email the company and they put me on a "wait list" then I got off the waitlist. When I showed up we were the only family on the tour and it was essentially a private tour with a retired park ranger. Miss Debbie was great and incredibly knowledgeable about the trees and wild life. My son (6yrs old) was incredibly engaged during the tour and it was for sure the highlight of our visit to the area.

The most beautiful hiking tour with a knowledgeable guide! Our kids 7 and 4, were captivated by every moment and lessons learned. The kids loved jumping in the creek, climbing the trails, seeing vegetation, insects and amphibians! Before we went on the hike my kids didn’t want to go, but the moment we got started, they loved every minute and didn’t want it to end!!!!! Our guide was wonderful and made the adventure perfect. We will do this again next time we come back to the Smokey mountains! Thank you!!!

We had an absolutely amazing hike. We learned a lot and had fun! My daughter (5) didn’t want it to end, and told everyone about the fun games she played. Would highly recommend! We will definitely book again when we’re back in the area.

My family and I did the 2 hour family tour and it was great! Our wonderful guide explained many plants and creatures in the rainforest of the Smokey Mountain. She stopped along the way to play short nature games with my kids. The highlight was at the end when she showed us where and how to find salamanders. My older child also enjoyed herself!

We had an amazing time exploring with Kenzie. We all learned a ton and my kids loved every second! The special touches of magnifying glasses and catching salamanders was the icing on the cake.

A fantastic experience for all six of us aged 77 to 9 years old. Deb was an awesome guide. She obviously enjoyed the experience of sharing her knowledge and being in the woods! The two kids were intrigued with her stories and games and asked a lot of questions. We all learned things we didn't know. Every turn found us in lush surroundings, creeks, trees, mushrooms, exotic plants...and even spotting a couple deer!! An easy mile hike that lasted for a couple hours...so much fun!

The walk was fantastic! We learned a lot of interesting info. Our kids ages 10-14 were all entertained. They usually start wining and asking to go back after a 15minute hike, but with Debbie as our guide, they didn't ask to go back at all. Games were a fun way to break up the walking. Highly recommend this tour with kids of any age.
