I spent a super day discovering some highlights of Shanghai with my local guide Ryan. We booked our tour with Travel China Guide Tours in May, and traveled to China in November 2019. During the planning phase, we communicated via email with Kelly Wang, Travel Consultant with Travel China Guide (TCG), based in Xi’an. TCG does business under the Xi’an Marco Polo International Travel Service Co. banner. At all times, our dealings with TCG were very clear and we were very pleased with the tour details as arranged. On our late afternoon arrival at Shanghai Pudong Int Airport, we were met by Ocean, our guide for the Shanghai portion of our tour, and escorted to our hotel in Pudong. Our arrangements included a day on our own prior to the start of the official tour, and Ocean provided us with very practical information to help us find our own way around Shanghai by Metro. We were amazed by the efficiency and low cost of the Shanghai metro system. The next morning we left our hotel at the end of the morning rush hour, easily located the nearest Metro station, and made our way to Peoples’ Square in central Shanghai. Following a day of self-directed touring, including a visit to Tienzifang (in the former French Concession), and the Shanghai Tower in Pudong, we made our way back to our hotel via Metro, later in the day following the evening rush hour. We stopped for a light dinner at one of the restaurants on the 8th floor of the Super Brands Mall in central Pudong (Lujiazui). The restaurant afforded a wonderful view across the Huangpu River to the Bund, with its brilliant light display. On the following day, Ocean escorted us on a private tour to Suzhou, approximately a two hour drive from Shanghai, where we toured the beautiful Master of Nets formal Chinese Garden, and then carried on to Tongli water village. We found Tongli, with its beautiful tree-lined canals and small shops, to be very pleasant and relaxing, and the perfect start to our tour, given our slow recovery from jetlag. The next day, Ocean escorted us to Shanghai Railway Station to take the high-speed train to Beijing, guiding us into the station to the correct waiting room, (there are several huge waiting rooms in the station) and explaining the check-in process we would go through to get on our train. We can highly recommend Ocean as a very knowledgeable and personable tour guide. He provided a detailed commentary on the sights we were visiting, giving us useful insight into local life and culture.

We just spent a day at Shanghai with our guide Ryan. Despite the light rain in the late afternoon, Ryan filled us with fun facts of Shanghai, difference of various China cities, and showed us the beauty of Yuyuan Garden, high rises along the Huangpu River, and the uniqueness of the French Concession. We learned and saw so much on merely one day. This is definitely a day to remember and a city to love on our first sights! Kudos to Ryan!

Stanley was a great guide on this trip. He was very flexible in adding an extra stop that the group requested without any drama. In addition he was very helpful at the food stands my wife and I wanted to try, turning the trip into an impromptu food tour. As we were finishing up, he gave us some really great tips for the next day, all of which proved excellent. I would highly recommend both the tour and Stanley as a guide!

Stanley was our guide and he made it perfect for us . He promptly came at the scheduled time @8:30 am to pick us up . Clearly explained what to expect for the day. Provided information on modern day China, historic facts and brought it all together . He had a very friendly temperament providing us with enough guidance and also time to explore things on our own . He understood the expectations of each tourist and fine tuned his recommendations accordingly

I had booked the tour through a third party travel company to cover a few days I had in Shanghai before proceeding to Beijing. This turned into a private tour, which was just excellent. Ryan was punctual, his English excellent, and his ability to relate so much of Shanghai's history and architecture without sounding like a 'tour guide download' was refreshing. The car was comfortable and Ryan took the time to help me through the craziness that is Hongqiao railway station at 8am on my departure day. I can't say enough good things to reflect my positive impression of the tour. Thanks very much.

We booked this private day trip to bring us around shanghai main city attraction from China Travel Guide tour. Ray is our tour guide during the trip and he is very knowledgeable in introducing those places that we went .Since our flight arrived at Pudong in the morning and we are unable to check in to our hotels, we decided to book this trip and at the same time we do not have to worry about getting a taxi at the airport. Ray was there waiting for us after we cleared the Chinese customs. Ray loaded our luggage up a big MPV car which is spacious enough for 4 of us. The vehicle could be better if it is cleaner, but overall it was fine. We started off to visit the YuYuan Garden. It was a very awesome garden and we took a lot of beautify pictures there. Ray was kind enough to actually purchase some water and hot coffee for us as that day the weather was pretty cold. Thereafter, we head down to the Jade Buddha Temple in which Ray told us the history of this ancient temple. After visiting the temple, it was time for lunch. Ray introduces us to a local shanghai restaurant quite where we ordered some Xiao Long Bao which is very big, juicy and tasty. The price wise was also very reasonable. We were supposed to take the boat ride around the Bund area but because of the poor weather condition on that day, all boat ride was cancelled. Ray even refunded the price for taking the Boat ride to us. Since we cannot take the boat ride we went straight to Nangjing street where we shops for some souvenirs. After which, Ray took us back to our hotel in the late evening and help us to check in to our hotel. Thank you Ray for being our guide! We have a good time on that day.

We loved this tour. Shanghai was beautiful. Ryan was an excellent guide and we learned so much from him. The Shanghai Tower at night was magnificent.

Ryan is a wonderful guide and Shanghai is an amazing city! I brought a group of middle school students from America--this was the first trip to China for all of us. Ryan did a great job of connecting with the students and keeping them engaged with his quiz questions and jokes. He also suggested some great evening activities for them. I was a little nervous to bring a group of students to China, but I feel so lucky that I picked Travel China Guide as a tour company--they made everything so easy and manageable. We had a SUPER day with Sophie. Shanghai Museum, Planning Museum, The Bund, boat cruise on the river at night was extraordinary. Highly recommend taking this tour that’s just note than you could ever hope to see in one day. Did I mention the great lunch ?

Lassie is an exceptional guide. She was on time, explained what the day would consist of. She was very friendly, professional and accommodating. She did not rush us, we had all the time we wanted at each location. She is great with children. She really made our day a perfect day in Shanghai.
