It was an amazing experience. I did private Kitesurf lessons and everything went perfectly. The instructor was always very helpful and committed. I would 100% recommend Free Your Mind services and for sure I will go back to keep learning and having fun.

I had a wonderful holiday in Tarifa. It was a good boarding home with a good breakfast, friendly people, and with very good wind and lovely instructors. When the wether aloud we had kitesurf lessons all day long, if we wanted to. And on the odd day that there was no wind, they trowed in a wave-surf lesson for good measure. All included in the package. Never seen a commitment like this before, where they go out off their way to make you learn to kite. Lovely!

I had an absolutely wonderful time kitesurfing with Free Your Mind in September 2023. It was my first time kitesurfing and the Kitecamp format worked out perfectly for me. It was great fun being with a mixed group, some who were absolute beginners and others with experience. Chatting to everyone was valuable and a lot of fun of course. Everything was great, but the quality of instruction from Ingu, Lilly and Gonzalo was off the scale. I can’t believe their dedication and passion and patience for instruction, day in, day out. Their instruction alone made the kitecamp great value. I cannot thank them enough and I will definitely be returning!

All i can is that this was my second time joining FYM this year. I was there in April, it was absolutely amazing and even better this time in September. We were unfortunate a bit as there was no wind this time around as i would hope for every day, but Lilly, Elli, Ingo and Gonzalo made sure that we had a great time. On days we no wind they organised wakeboarding, surfing, kite repair classes, taking us to amazing restaurants etc. They would even go to the beach at 6pm in the evening as the wind on some days started late, so they can ensure that we can squeeze in an hour or two of kiting. Accommodation was great, close to the beach, nice garden with bbq area. I would highly recommend these guys, first because they are all a joy to be around and second, there is no school or camp in Tarifa that provide this level of kitesurfing. Already planning my next booking and yes it will be with FYM. See you guys soon!!!

The Kitesurf camp in May was my second time in an FYM Camp and it was again an amazing week. All instructions are passionate about the sport and are keen to share their passion. Therefore, I made a huge step forward in kitesurfing. Furthermore, they create a fun environment, also on days without wind. Thank you for the great week! Looking forward to the next time

Absolutely amazing kite surfing school. I was an absolute beginner and had three lessons with a teacher. All the teachers are really passionate, knowledgeable and experienced. They were great at seeing where I struggled so that I could improve my technique quickly. Also the whole team is really fun and welcoming so we often ended up chatting over a drink after the lessons. Top-quality equipment as well. Highly recommend!

It was my first experience with kitesurfing and Free Your Mind as organization and it was great. The communication with Lilly was top, reaction were quickly to al my questions. My instructor Chris was great. He got me patiently thru this first experience and he was a great support. When everything goes well, time flies and so were my days here in Tarifa. Kitesurfing camp with “Free Your Mind” have been so amazing! FYM has an incredible way of breaking things down so participants can easy understand and always keeping it fun. Lily was managing things really well and always plan ahead what we are going to do. I would also like to mention Ingo who I think is the best kitesurfing instructor in the whole of Tarifa. He’s so passionate about his job and he will do anything to ensure that you are successful and achieve your goals. Gonzalo was also amazing and I have learned a lot from him. I would highly recommend these guys and I can’t wait to go back and kitesurf with them again!!! Also accommodation was great and Eli was making amazing breakfast!!! I was looking for a kite school where I could feel comfortable as I was a bit afraid to go in the water and kite. They made me feel like it was easy and motivated me during the whole process in any way I needed it. I am beyond grateful as this has exceeded my expectations on what a Kite school and kite course should be.

Even with the weather being not so good at this time of year, we made the best of it. I had the pleasure to be part of Free Your Mind‘s Kitesurf Camp in October 2022, which took part in Tarifa. From the get-go the whole team was not only incredibly helpful & friendly, but also eager to create the best experience possible. As the team is passionate about kitesurfing, the camp is ideal to learn the sport or to improve in it. From morning to evening one has the chance to practice kitesurfing, with coaches catering to the individual skill/experience level. Furthermore, the material provided is superb. Consequently, everybody felt in safe hands and made a big step forward. Also around kitesurfing (e.g. in the evenings or on days without wind) activities are organized that help to improve kitesurfing, or the experience the beautiful landscape or culinary scene. So we have never been bored. Last but not least, the people made the experience unique. As the whole team and all participants are friendly and open. Therefore, independently of coming with friends or alone one has an amazing time. Thank you to the whole team and I will certainly take part again in the future!

I had with Lilly from Free your Mind Team my first experience at all with the Kite. Which means i had more or less 4 hours private lessons just for the handling the kite - because for me in tarifa in april the wind was too strong for a beginner well at least for me. But she teached me very well and i felt with the her safe and comfortable. perfect start for kiting even i did nothing in the water. I defently high recommend Lilly for everyone as a teacher. I would totally recommend Free your mind to learn kitesurf. From the organisation to the instructors they are all nice, open and very professional. I took 3 days of private kitesurfing classes with Connie and it could not have been better. She makes sure that you learn properly, giving very helpful tips and paying attention that you progress in a safe way. I will definitely come back.

Where to begin with this review which ended up being just one long and really frustrating experience. We appreciate that this is quite the contrary to all other reviews and we had researched FYM before choosing this school liking the reviews so clearly our experience is unfortunate. To begin the kite instructor (Sebastian) was lovely. Sebastian (Basti) clearly had our best interests at heart. He was looking at wind conditions and figuring out how best to manage our time - perfect really felt looked after as conditions where on/off when we were over so exactly what we needed. So how come the 2/5 review when we'd of given the instructor a 5/5 from the outset? That comes down to expectations which from our point of view materially failed to meet our needs. That was because to get time on the water had to go through a Manager. Ultimately the experience and how our hope to become kite surfers in the time we had wasn't managed as well as it should have been. To explain from our perspective (which we know FYM will convey there own response on); We had a limited time to kite surf (4/5 full days weather permitting) and that was made clear to the school at the beginning. That initial communication was somehow arranged it transpired via a Yoga teacher in Tenerife not sure why so many focal points in this company possibly a way for things to fall between the cracks? Once forms had been completed and number of lessons / days arranged for the kiting we (my wife and I) were then passed the WhatsApp details of a Kite Manager (Lilli) whom we made contact with. Later it transpired that for our time in Tarifa our contact Lilli has departed and was now in Germany and was managing the school from there. At this time we had an invoice for 4 days of 3hr sessions via the Yoga teacher in Tenerife. Our holiday plan - to kite surf for at least 4 days 3 hours a day 12 hours total. Clear we were over for 5 full days and possibly 0.5day on final day on Monday. Note we both done some body dragging with kites before so hoped this would help us getting time on the board. We hoped this would see us leave Tarifa getting away on the boards. Lesson 1 we were told roughly what to expect and this provided an opportunity to be clear what prior kiting experience we had. Time went as follows; Day 1 - lost day no wind, obv no kiting so no problem - we took time to go to the school to meet the instructors off our own backs. We realise though no-one kiting was present / manning that place and comms are to be done via WhatsApp. Day 2 - meet instructor at beach in afternoon when wind is ok as arranged (via WhatsApp). We manage 2 hrs of the planned 3hrs kiting with Basti who (I repeat) was lovely instructor. The wind dipped so had to cut lesson short (great flexibility), told no wind forecast for the following day. Verbally my wife changed plans with Basti so that we'll focus our time when the wind due to pick up on our final few days of trip (Sat & Sun). Clear Monday might also be possible but would rely on early wind conditions which we are told is no earlier than 11am. At this point we feel like Basti has a clear understanding of the limited time we had to learn and what our objectives are. Day 3 - no wind (as known) Day 4 - in morning oddly given message from Lilli if we can give update if we want to take a 2nd lesson or not. Then messages that Basti didn't inform her also of desire to continue - not sure why Basti to blame as we already filled in forms saying we wanted 12hrs 4x3 days etc.. Perhaps time spent relaying all messages to Tenerife and to Basti not understood by manager it seemed to us? In same message we are told need to postpone Saturday afternoon classes as wind "is not there" and that we should aim to be at beach after 5pm because of this. Also told that this Saturday lesson will only happen "if the wind kicks in". We drive out of Tarifa around midday to make use of time on day trip due to lack of 'wind time'. On leaving Tarifa there is strong wind and there are literally 100's of kites and great steady wind e.g. how is wind delay? Conditions pretty much exactly as Basti told us were anticipated. We query with Lilli why we are being told no wind early in the day when we can see it evident. At this point are we are told that wind is not the only issue and in fact that there are other students out with Basti today. Felt that the earlier message only around wind were not the full truth. Also seemed odd that wind was an issue at all as the winds strong in the morning and Basti already told us 11am was the earliest wind in Tarifa for kiting. Note Lilli accuses us of accusing her of lying but all we said was that wind conditions appears not the only factor impacting why we can't go out earlier in day as planned (and now surely needed to try best to make up for lost time!). At this point we both felt completely deflated and frustrated that there is great wind and we are only to be given a 5pm+ slot in Lilli's words "if the wind picks up". How much clearer could we have been that we needed the time? We are told some comms issues between Basti not passing information to Manager. Why Basti at fault when all forms were filled in for multiple days etc anyway I have no idea?? We also get a strange note back about us accusing the instructor of lying. What we said was that absence of wind as we were told was the issue for a 5pm+ start was definitely not the full story. Also we are basically given a slot of 5pm+ "if the wind picks up" makes us feel like we are low priority customers for some reason. We'd of rather have been told early if instructor availability an issue as use of those few days was very precious to us and no other opportunity go get another instructor by time we realise what is going on. Feel communication back and forth about the reasons for such a late start and so little time remaining is only making matters worse. Actually is upsetting for everyone and still getting messages on my wife's birthday when all we want is to try and have nice day away from the frustration. Clearly we do not see eye to eye on what has happened and nobody is happy for sometime.. Had Basti been leading the lessons for us I think he'd of said listen guys great wind conditions today we have the opportunity to make up for lost time earlier in the week and we'd obviously have jumped at it. Instead we are left with what feels like the possibility of some time later in the day when other clients have been instructed. The manager not even aware of our desire for many days through multiple points of contact in the company hasn't worked and has failed us. All in one terribly frustrating experience. I do really not like also being told I accused the Manager of lying. Lack of wind though was self-evidently not the case. Had Sebastian been organising our experience I'm sure it would have been fine but the kite manager in Germany meant that we lost key time, our aims clearly somehow weren't conveyed. WhatsApp is clearly not an efficient way of managing this situation and a poor substitute for face to face contact this eventuality needed. It clearly did not work and we were working to different mindsets. On my last day of my holiday and spending time detailing this note :-( To my frustration very few of these points have been acknowledged by FYM and it appears like we are to blame for not communicating our expectations.

I had a great experience doing the kite surf camp with Free your mind. I liked it that much that I actually prolonged it by one week to progress even more. The team was great and gave their very best every day!

We had our first experience of Kitesurfing with Miloud and it was great to learn with him. Such a great experience to try this new sport. The place, the vibe & lessons are perfect ! I recommend staying in the FYM house because it is definitely the « house of happiness » where you feel like at home. A big thank you to the FYM team and Carole for the organization of this amazing week! Can't wait to go back 🤙🏻

Huge thanks to Free Your Mind Experience and the whole team for the week we spent in Tarifa. We had great semi-private kitesurf classes with Miloud and great yoga classes with Piluka. The house offered by the school is a real oasis and you'll directly feel at home. Everyone in the FYM team is welcoming, nice and really fun. Thanks to Carole for organizing our trip and for always being there for us. We're looking forward for the next trip with FYM!
