We had a lot of fun with our Guide Ernest, he was very knowledgeable of the culture, history and food, he was patient with our wife shoppers and made us laugh and feel confortable. We enjoyed the fresh seafood, local delicious cheeses paired with the local wine!

Ania’s knowledge and enthusiasm was evident from the moment we met her. The day was a gastronomic tour of Basque Country food and it did not disappoint. We sampled four different cheeses and ‘breakfast wine’ ( wine drunk before noon. Wink) with a delicious baguette at our first stop in St. Jean de Luz. It was All Saints Day ( Nov 1) so only a few stores in the bustling market were open. But we learned about the drying art of cheese making and washing. We tasted real macaroons at the bakery where they were created for the kings wedding. Ania told us great Basque history, the disputes between royalty in France and Spain and brought it all alive with humour and gusto. We walked the sea wall and peeked inside the cathedral where the Sun King was married. Now THERE’S a story! The market in Biarritz was fabulous. I included a few photos. The cheeses! The foie gras! The meats! Then over to the fish market for a sampling of oysters, shrimp, whelks, crab, mussels and local wine. We walked the beach to La petite plage and learned the history of the city. Ania and her beautifully appointed and impeccably clean Mercedes van then whisked us to Hiruzta Winery to sample the Basque Txakolina white wine. We had three local pintxos and heard the remarkable stories behind them. Our last stop was in Hondarrivia. Wow what a surprise. Stunning town with a remarkable history. We travel a great deal. This was a remarkable day with a lovely knowledgeable guide who was polite, gracious, knowledgeable and kind. 5/5

We love to do private tours all over the world and this experience with Telmo ranks in the top as a favorite! We were picked up at our hotel right on time and headed out to spend the day in France and back to Spain to wrap up the trip. We learned so much history and saw so many beautiful sights and vistas. This was the Gastronomy Tour and we had some wonderful food choices including amazing French cheeses and wine to start the day - perfect! There were oysters in Biarritz and then a fabulous lunch in Hondarribia. Telmo was the perfect guide - sharing tons of facts and details about each city we visited…and he also was lots of fun! This is a perfect way to spend a day exploring several different cities to get a true flavor of both France and Spain! We highly recommend Telmo and this full day tour!

Very interesting tour from both cultural and gastronomic perspectives. Shout out to our guide Markel who showed us great local markets in St. Jean de Luz, Biarritz, Hondarribia as well as Txakoli wineries. He was super knowledgeable about Basque history and culture on both sides of the border. Highly recommend this tour for those interested in Basque cuisine and culture! It is a great taste of the area/French side of Basque country - particularly if you don't have time to leisurely explore the region over a few weeks.

This was the best tour we’ve ever done! Mikel was our guide, and he went above and beyond to provide an absolutely unforgettable experience. He was friendly and knowledgeable, spoke fluently in English, French, Spanish and Basque, and we learned so much about the history and culture of the areas we were visiting. The food, wine, and sight-seeing all were amazing, and I still can’t believe how much we were able to do in a single day. Mikel was really easy to talk with, and we thoroughly enjoyed spending our day with him. If you are in the area, you will not want to miss this tour; it has set a very high bar for any others tours we do in the future. Thank you, Mikel!!

Had such a wonderful tour today with Anya! Morning started with visit to a fabulous market and wine and cheese tasting in St.Jean de Luz and the day just continued getting even better from there. Our second tour with Anya and would highly recommend if you are in the Basque region! First class all the way!

We had the most amazing time on our tour. As two food lovers we were not disappointed. We enjoyed learning about the wine in the area as well as the local cuisine. It was a very unique experience to visit various markets. Additionally, Ernes was a phenomenal guide. We loved learning about the history of the basque region through his familial history and local background. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting! We are so grateful for this experience as we saw so much.

My husband and I just came back from a 3 night San Sebastian trip and we spent 2 whole days with Ania from Ikusnahi and this was the highlight of our trip. We did the French Basque country tour after the Rioja wine tour and had a great time. We didn't even plan to go to France on this trip but were so impressed with Ania that we decided to give it a try. The tour started at 9AM and we drove to the French border right away. Ania also adjusted our itinerary as we have a big dinner that day and had to finish eating everything by 2:30 PM. The small towns we visited were very charming and we were one of the few tourists due to low season. It was also stress free as Ania knew where to park and made it very efficient. At the end of the trip, both of us agreed that the French basque country is great for sightseeing and snacks but we preferred the Spanish side for food and wine and the relaxed atmosphere. Ania also helped us order wine and gave us local recommendations. We'd recommend her in a heart beat for anyone coming to visit San Sebanstian.

My boyfriend and I are real foodies and we both agreed that it was the best tour ever! The food was absolutely terrific. Great cheese tasting and wine - everything locally produced. Oysters, sea whelks (we never tried those before), fresh crab. Macarons. And pintos in Hondaribia. Not to mention all the explanation and storytelling. We loved this experience and the places we went. Ikusnahi team was very helpful during the booking process. They took time to understand our needs and recommended the best options. They are very personable and fun to be around. Thank you! We made great memories.

Mikel was great and we appreciated his commentary and knowledge. The food and wine was wonderful. The accommodated our service dog and we all had a great time seeing and learning about the Basque Country.

Our group of four decided Ania was the BEST tour guide we have ever had. We were a little tired from multiple days of touring and thinking of ending the tour early. We had the most wonderful time! Ania was so informative and so professional. Everything was perfect, the food and wine/cider were fabulous. She made sure everything was smooth and the pace was perfect, we weren’t rushed and it wasn’t slow. The tour felt like 3 hours not 6. We were shown such interesting historical places. This will be the best tour you take. It was an amazing day!! Highly recommend!!!

Ania was the most amazing tour guide! She was very educated on basque history and the region, along with the region’s wine and cuisine. Not only did we learn a lot, we had the best time her all day tasting amazing food and seeing the best areas of this spectacular region. I would highly recommended this tour. It’s worth every penny and more. I wish we would have done it at the beginning of our trip in San Sebastián because Ania had fantastic recommendations that I wish we had more time to explore.

Ernes was a brilliant host and incredibly knowledgeable, not just about the basque region & its food but far further a field. The variety of restaurants & markets we attended was fantastic, particular favourite were the Oysters. Ernes has intimate knowledge of the region and it’s people & even threw in some surprise stops based on our interests, it really felt tailor made. Looking forward to touring again with him in the future!

Vi elsker begge sjømat og ost, så vi bestemte oss for å velge en tur til Biarritz og Saint Jean de Luz. Guiden vår - Mikel var fantastisk. Projesjional, sympatisk og hadde svar på alle praktiske spørsmål. På nesten 8 timer besøkte vi mange vakre steder, for ikke å snakke om alle delikatessene som vi hadde muligheten til å prøve. Super kvalitet.
