Simon is super knowledgeable abt the area. He had the restaurants adjust the food offerings to our preferences and kept us entertained the entire time with wonderful facts abt Japan. Definitely would recommend. Go on this tour with an empty stomach!!! Plenty of food!!!

My wife and my mom went out with Simon for the evening, and had a great time. We started at a contemporary gyoza restaurant where we had a wide variety of gyoza, all of which were delish, and then went to a more traditional izakaya where we had a wide range of food and far too much sake. Simon was great company and I'd absolutely recommend booking with him.

Simon was amazing...expat tour of an area of Tokyo that we would never have found. Tasted great saki, ate items we would have never ordered and adored, leaned so much. Accommodated our every request and adapted to our changed in times and more. A once in a lifetime experience.

The walking food tour was great! Simon took us places we wouldn’t have discovered on our own. The food was great and he added unique tastings of items that we wouldn’t have ordered. I would book another tour with Simon!

Simon was great, easy to meet location, the exact experience I was looking for, local, non tourist and very authentic food and drinks like a local, highly recommended , would have never found this places by myself, the guide was very knowledgeable and very easy to get along with.

This was our best night in Tokyo, we had such an amazing time with Simon. This is a part of Tokyo we would have never found without him. Sangenjaya is a magical neighborhood with much to explore. Simon anticipated our every need, our plates and cups were never empty. Simon has a very warm relationship with every place we stopped and deep knowledge of both the area Tokyo in general. He is extremely easy to talk to, we felt like old friends right away. 10 out of 10 we could not recommend this tour more.

This is by far the best food experience we ever did! I don’t even know where to start .. The remarkable neighbourhood a bit outside of those touristic spots is special. Very local, quiet but not boring, just perfect! The food and drink spots were amazing which we went through, but nothing would be anything close that fun without Simon. He made our evening special and it was one of the best experiences in our three weeks Japan travels. Simon knows a lot about food, the Japanese culture, has amazing recommendations and is soooo fun! Thanks again, we were just blessed!

We had an amazing time with Simon! It was a last minute trip, booked the night before. Simon reached out for our preferences, which we had him choose for us. We are so glad he did, he toured us through the city explaining the culture and significance of the food we tried. He was clearly born to tour, we hear he has a great beer and sake tour as well which we will be enjoying the next time we come to japan. We cannot recommend this tour highly enough!!!!

Simon is the nicest guy. So hard to write ALL the good things. The tour is absolutely brilliant, phenomenal restaurants, copious and insanely good food and drink. Simon has been living in Japan for decades and knows all the history and has all the good stories. We went with our teenage sons as well and Simon engaged them, found things to interest them also. He was beyond generous with his time, his knowledge and with the food and drink! Brilliant guy and brilliant tour. Also, we are vegetarians so he changed the tour for us and who knew there was so much amazing vegetarians and vegan food to be consumed in one night! Thank you!

Pros: You would never come to these places on your own and they are such fun experiences and are definitely musts. Cons: our guide was a very nice person but really pulled away from the experience. You see in all the reviews about Simon and how great he is, if you have a different person, from our experience, it was not worth it. We were very let down as we expected a high energy fun night experience and got the opposite. Also, our party was vegetarian. Even knowing this long ahead of time, there were no accomodations or changes made even when we couldn't eat things on the list they planned and the locations had none or almost no options for us. We wouldn't recommend this tour unless you can guarantee Simon.

This was a fantastic experience! Simon is a great guide, extremely knowledgeable and laid back. It was a super relaxing night with plenty of great drinks, great food, and great conversation. My favorites were the tachinomi that specialized in Hoppy drinks, and the hidden izakaya! I was traveling solo and it was my first time in Japan, and I am very glad I signed up for this. The neighborhood has a great atmosphere, it's cool but not snobby, and it's not a hokey tourist spot. I am not very into pictures, but I think you could take some good ones in the tiny alleyways that you'll make your way through during the tour. It is very easy to get there via train (and home again), and the trip is relatively quick from a lot of areas. All in all, this is a stellar night out, and absolutely worth your time.

We had a great evening with Simon! We enjoyed experiencing the back alleys of Sangenjaya. It’s a part of Tokyo we never would have seen without an expert guide. Plus Simon is fun, kind and a pleasure to be around. We highly recommend this tour. Just be careful not to eat a big lunch beforehand.

Our tour with Simon was wonderful! We had only been in Tokyo about a day and a half so it was a wonderful introduction to the food and drink scene in a unique and less-touristy area. We really felt like we were eating like locals. We had amazing food and great company with Simon! And so MUCH food!! I particularly appreciated how welcoming Simon was to our two teenage sons. It was the highlight of the trip for all of us!

Overall it was a great night! Got to meet Simon the meeting place on time and it was just a nice night out. We traveled to a couple of small and definitely more niche areas to dine out. Simon was very knowledgeable on the subjects and he is very well versed in the history and is just full of experience. Since I was a Solo traveler, we just let the night went on and talked about our experiences in general and whatever in between. Simon's friendly demeanor makes you feel comfortable and the locals around us at the time was also the same, especially in my case, I barely know japanese at all. We ended the night with some good sake, a series of fish, and no hangover. We parted ways as friends, cheers!

WOW! This was my first night in Tokyo and I could not have had a better start. Simon was friendly, informative, personable, and knowledgeable. We explored a part of Tokyo I would never have ventured to on my own—in almost all of our stops, we were the only Westerners there. We ate GREAT food, some familiar to my American palette and some very very foreign. Drank more than I should have (all optional) all for the included price. Highly highly recommend you take this tour and have a unique experience!

This tour was the perfect experience to have early into our two-week trip to Japan. Simon was a fantastic guide, teaching us the in ands outs of Tokyo and Sangenjaya's interesting culture and delicious cuisine. Everything from the grilled octopus at our first stop to the sake at our last was incredible. Simon made sure we had one of our best nights in Japan, even taking an interest in what we did for work back home. And he did all of this despite having a flight early next morning! Cannot recommend this food tour enough.

We had such a fun and memorable night with Simon. He was fantastic - very communicative with us from the time of booking up until the moment we met. He told us about the history of the neighborhood we were touring, and really knew his way around the neighborhood. He was patient, kind, easy to talk to, and we loved spending time with him. The experience itself was also truly incredible. You meander through these back alleys (or yokochos) full of quaint izakayas - each one so small and hidden that it feels like a maze of speakeasies. It was a truly unique and authentic japanese experience and we HIGHLY recommend this tour for anyone visiting Tokyo!

Amazing unique experience with a knowledgeable interesting Brit who moved to Japan 22 years ago. Sinon survived the pandemic and loves both owning and operating a tour of a very local Japanese community to share food and beverage experiences with visitors. The experience, food and lots of drinks was fabulous but Simon's personality, passion and stories were even better. Don't think about it. Just book the tour.
