This is a very well organised and guided evening canoe trip! The hotpools are at a wonderfull, authentic and magical place. They can only be reached by boat. After canoeing the lake you have a nice bath (changing roams and cafe on site) in thr pools ans swim in the lake. Then you paddle to the (small but beautifull) glow-worm cave and then a evening paddle over the lake. The guide is very experienced and the canoes are good quality!

We had a great time even though it rained 50% of the trip. Darragh guided us with professionalism, humor, and excellent information about the glowworms, Māori stories, and lake history. Lake Rotoiti is beautiful and this kayak trip is memorable.

Had great fun. My cousins from overseas loved it. Was an amazing experience. Our guide Tom was also amazing, he made the journey extra special and unforgettable.

What an informative kayaking trip. I enjoyed that it was just me and my husband with (I think her name was Sarah). She was so great, and told us a wonderful "folklore" tale about the glow worms. I was a little nervous about the wind, but Sarah assured me that she wouldn't take us out if it was too windy. We loved the Manupirua Hot Pools, the glow worms and the amazing stars we saw! One of the highlights of our very quick trip to New Zealand.

Myself and my partner completed the ‘starlight gourmet kayak tour’ from Rotorua on New Years Eve and all we can say is wow! The whole process right from the booking to the experience itself was a truly seamless stress free experience. Our guide, Saracen, picked us up from our accommodation in Rotorua which was extremely helpful for us as we didn’t have a car with us and getting taxis to and from may have been difficult given that it was New Years Eve. Right from the get go, we got on with Saracen really well, he was extremely knowledgeable and professional and had us laughing and chatting from the beginning putting us at ease and making us relaxed. The kayaking, hot pools and BBQ was so enjoyable and the food was so tasty! The staff working at the bar were also great fun, which added to the experience! Couldn’t recommend the tour enough it was the best way to spend New Years Eve and I can’t wait to come back if we have visitors to New Zealand 😊 thank you all at Waimarino Kayak Tours!

We have visited Rotorua many times and were looking for something different to do with our teenage boys this time around. Starlight Kayaking Tour on Lake Rotoiti was a real highlight. Josh and Frosty were awesome guides - very approachable, friendly and great senses of humour but we always felt very safe in their hands. The hot springs were fabulous - a real hidden gem - and the boys enjoyed being able to cool off in the lake too. The trip home across the lake via the glowworm cave whilst the sun set and night closed in was awesome. A special experience we will all remember for a long time I'm sure.

Perfectly paced evening kayak with Jack. Wonderful to learn more about this great country, have a dip in thermal pools and the glow worms were incredible.

Josh was a great guide. Transport from our hotel was convenient. Equipment was good. Not a rushed or brief excursion. Lake Rotoiti was beautiful. The hot tubs were a welcome break. This was a highlight of our visit in the north of NZ

Great night out with a couple of awesome guides. Josh and Jono were a heap of fun and the location stunning. Lake Rotoiti is very unspoiled. As we were only a family of five with kids ranging from 9-15yrs the guides were very forgiving of our crap paddling in the big Kanau and ran a wee outboard for us during parts of the journey so we could just enjoy the scenery. Very safe for anyone with a fear of the canoes. The caves and glow-worms are amazing. Totally hidden in the bush on the lake edge with vines and bush. Very Indiana Jones. Only wish we could have popped in to more than one cave as they're only shallow in length. Got to watch a stunning sunset from inside the caves too. The only improvement I think the team can make on the tour, during these weird COVID19 times is tailor their banter and local history information to Kiwis. Much of what was recounted to us would seem novel if I were a foreign tourist, but as a local it was very familiar as a NZer.

We thoroughly enjoyed the evening kayaking tour! Seeing the glow worms so close up in the cave was an amazing experience! Just wanted to shout out a huge thanks to our guides who were super professional and friendly and helped make it a wonderful experience!

Had the best time, got to get out and see the spectacular sights from Lake Rotoiti on our way to see the magic of the glow worms, before heading for a very relaxing, hot mineral springs spa. A fantastic day out and a must-do!
