There are a lot of foodie tours out there, especially in a culinary mecca such as Rome. What sets the Rome Trastevere for Foodies apart from the rest is Rish, a foodie tour guide who takes the Roman pecorino and amatriciana to the next level. How? He grew up in the very neighborhood you are visiting, he knows the very merchants that are on the tour, not just because of the business relationship between the merchant and Eating Europe but because of the personal relationship with those merchants that he grew up with. Just as the age old adage about real estate goes, that it is all about location, location, location, so too it is with Rish, by going with a local, he makes you feel right at home.Loved the entire experience. Was lucky enough to be shown around by Rish and besides my wife there was only one other person on the tour. I was impressed by Rish’s depth of knowledge and his recommendations were perfect. We had an amazing tour this morning with Luca. He set up the tour very well, developed a great banter with our 9yr old who is a very...discerning customer, and kept both children entertained through the whole 3hrs. The food was wonderful (we will likely go to Trastevere tomorrow to assemble a picnic...), but what was even better was the full introduction to each stop, the various vendors (and their families),and the little snippets of local history that accompanied the more foodie parts. I can't think of a better way to spend 3 hrs in Rome. Molte Grazie Luca!A very nice three hours or so spent tasting and learning about Italian food The very proud and talented store owners, bakers, cheese makers etc, all made us welcome.
