Absolutely recommended! We completed the 2 day tour of Rome with Max and Levino (?). I cannot give enough praise for the professionalism of these two gentleman. Due to scheduling alterations because of the pope holding a sudden meeting, they changed our schedule and was able to allow us to see everything scheduled. We actually were able to see more than expected due to their recommendations and time allowed. Rates as one of the top weekends of my life. If your going to Rome, please don't do it alone and choose these guides. You won't regret it!

We booked Max for the 2-day tour of Rome. It was truly a VIP experience! The knowledge that he has of Rome is extraordinary. And the skip the line benefit was awesome. We would have never seen a quarter of what we saw with Max if we had done this with another tour company or on our own. We learned so much about the beautiful city from him. This is my third time hiring Max in Rome. The two previous times were one-day trip excursions from the cruise port. This time, we were staying in Rome and so booked the two day tour with Max. Despite having to change up plans due to an unexpected event with the Pope in St. Peter’s Basilica, we had a great tour with Max the first day, then we had Salvatore and Corinne on the next day. A private tour with Max and his crew is the only way to go, so worth the money. When you see large groups of people in the Vatican with their earpieces listening to a guide, you can’t help but feel thankful you are not with them! Max is so knowledgeable. We also hired him for a day trip to Positano and Sorrento but he was unable to personally take us due to other obligations but arranged Salvatore to take us, and my, we could not have been more pleased! We LOVED Salvatore! He took us to a limoncello factory then on to Sorrento for shopping, then called ahead to a restaurant in Positano to make sure we had the best table for lunch! Given it’s a three and a half hour drive from Rome to Amalfi Coast, we spent a lot of time with Salvatore. He was so funny and entertaining, yet also pointed out places and gave us history along the way. So, in conclusion, as you can tell, I totally trust Max and his partners to be the best guides in Italy and would hire them again in a heartbeat if I needed tours, excursions or transfers (I failed to mention him arranging airport transfers to and from for usas well). It is SO worth the money. We love you Max!

Max was a great tour guide! He brought the history of Rome to life. He taught us a lot while also keeping it fun and engaging. We had an amazing experience and would absolutely recommend this company.

Marco and Raffaella showed us around for the first day. Then Max for the second day. It was amazing how much we got to see. They were so well organized. We got to skip lines and they managed to easily find parking everywhere. It was stress-free for us and also so much fun. The guides kept our kids engaged and laughing even with jet lag. We 100% recommend them!

January 2020—We had an amazing private 2-day Rome tour with Max of ItalyRomeTour. It was the highlight of our 2-week tour of the Mediterranean. We are pretty savvy vacationers, but there is no way we could have ever had covered as many sites or territory on our own. Max was the perfect guide: organized, knowledgeable, informed and charming. Door to door each day was an adventure filled to the brim with the rich history of Rome. He had all our tickets ahead of time, we never waited in line, and he timed each location for a well-planned day. He came highly recommended and did not disappoint. Definitely an expert at his craft and the highest caliber guide. He has a unique gift for gauging your interests, and always has additional information on his i-pad, like a museum curator, to support and further illustrate the history he was sharing. I could have done two more days. Bravissimo.

We used italyrometours as our pickup from airport to Rome, 2 day tour in Rome and transfer from Rome to Civitavecchia. Max was our guide and thrilled us with his knowledge of the sites and also with his outgoing personality. This is absolutely the best tour we have ever taken and was well worth the cost. Anyone traveling to Rome I would suggest they use Max’s company as their tour guide.

There are only a hand full of events in a lifetime that truly mark your soul. The two days we spent with Max were one of those moments. His knowledge of Rome, it’s layers of history, and Max’s kindness made for a truly memorable visit. Max had an ability to make us feel like we were the only people in the city and that we were truly “friends not customers”. He ensured we felt welcome at every location we visited, while ensuring we understood and appreciated the depth of historical significance the relics and monuments we visited held. My husband and I planned a fairly last minute trip to Italy in May 2019 that also included our 21 year old son. Because it was fairly last minute, we relied on a lot of suggestions from family/friends on where to stay, what to do etc. One of our friends said that he highly suggested hiring Max as our tour guide while we were in Rome. Thank goodness we listened to him! After being in Florence and Sienna for a few days before that, which were much more compact and easier to walk and a slower pace, arriving in Rome was a whole different story. It was much more spread out and busy and the lines to get into the Colosseum and the Vatican were 3 hours long each. But no worries for us because we had Max, who is a licensed tour guide, driving us there and we literally walked to the front of the line and walked right into these places! That in itself was worth every penny (especially in the heat), but on top of that, Max (and Levio) were super nice and knowledgeable and we learned so much more than we would have on our own. Being driven around everywhere was so nice because we didn't have to worry or think about what we were doing and could listen to them talking about what we were seeing while they were escorting us around. We weren't ever tired, exhausted, frustrated, etc because we were in good hands! All 3 of us agreed that if we had not hired Max, we would not have had as good of an ending to our trip and Rome wouldn't have been the same experience. Also, Max went above and beyond and hooked us up with a local tour guide for our day in Sienna and Levio drove us back to the airport on the day we were leaving. Hire Max when you go to Rome! You won't be disappointed!

I have several friends that have used Max and his company over the last 10 years. Everyone of them told me that if you are ever Italy you need to hire him. I can say that Max lived up to the hype and we really enjoyed spending three days with his company. We did the typical sites in Roma and Max also took us to Pompei and Sorrento. We would never been able to see all the places we did without hiring Max and I think we spent about 10 minutes total over three days waiting in line. Typical tourists wait hours just trying to get into the Vatican or the Colosseum. If your time is valuable and you want to truly enjoy Roma and Italy without all the headaches than pay a little extra get the best guide company I have ever had the pleasure of using.

Max, our guide, was wonderful! He molded the tour to accommodate our interests and desires. His knowledge of not only Rome, but other world history made our experience even greater. His English was clear and understandable. Our only bad part of our trip is Max had to go home!

Whenever I travel, I always learn about the destination and culture for about a month. I then plan out my itinerary hour by hour leaving no opportunities behind. That all changed when I met Max. You will get to travel to all the main attractions of Rome, but also get lost in the city through the eyes of a local. By no means will you be in crowded lines and be apart of a tourist group. I don't think anything I could put together will ever be so filled and detailed as Italy Rome Tour. I was really impressed with Max's superior time management. Because he pretty much knows everyone, you get the VIP treatment with line skipping and impromptu parking. We would go to a destination, get out of the van, meet his cool friend, see the attraction, jump back in the van and head to the next destination. If we had to rent our own car, the parking situation alone would be 20% of our trip spent. You will not be disappointed with Max and his team of professionals. The package includes a historian, photographer, and stunt driver. If you're looking for a history lesson, they tell great stories. If you're looking for that perfect selfie, they already know the perfect angle. Lastly, you'll feel like being in a Fast and Furious ride going through the rough streets of Rome. I wish these types of tours exist in other parts of the world. Max and Rome Italy Tour will truly make your time worthwhile.

It's impossible to express how much Max made the sights of Rome come alive for us. I expected a dry history lesson and was instead rewarded with a well informed narrative that was delivered with the enthusiasm and passion of one who clearly knows and loves his native city. Max made lions leap at the Colosseum and chariots race at the Circus Maximus, though of course, none were physically there. In addition, I cannot imagine how much less we would have seen without him, as he adeptly found parking spots where there seemed to be none, circumvented lines that went on forever, and offered suggestions and recommendations that maximized our experience in every way. Professional, charming, and caring; I simply cannot say enough! Thank you, Max!

From the time Max picked us up from the hotel until the end of the day, our day was filled with the amazing sites of Rome as Max told of Roman stories, shared his deep knowledge of history while being very entertaining as well. We covered a great deal of territory the 1st day, but his energy and enthusiasm keep us very engaged and excited about seeing and learning about the incredible places we were visiting. The next day Livio promptly picked us up and took us to the Vatican. Teo met us and led us through the awesome Vatican areas. He too was so knowledgeable and engaging as we spent the morning learning and exploring these famous sites. He knows the interesting and important pieces of art and the pertinent information to point out so to get the most out of our tour. He was quick to get us through the lines, but patient as we asked questions or wanted to know more about something we saw. Livio met us from there and we spent the afternoon with him as he showed us more areas of Rome that we would not have seen otherwise. He too was easy to talk to, knowledge and very flexible. We had already seen the Spanish steps and Trevi fountain, so he had heard me talking about the Basilica of St. John Lateran so took us there which put us over our time with him, but he truly did not mind. He wanted us to see it and I'm so glad he did because this was another highlight of the trip. Max, Teo and Livio felt like immediate friends. They got us through lines, they maximized each minute they had with us, they taught, led, entertained, laughed and they seemed to love each place as much as we did - AND we had at 2 wonderful lunches at unique places. The 2 days could not have been any better! This made for a remarkable and memorable trip - thank you Max, Teo and Livio!!

The one thing that decades of travel have taught us is that you cannot do a city justice without an experienced and knowledgeable tour guide. Having investigated and emailed back-and-forth with several for our second visit to Rome, “Italy Rome Tours” was our choice, with the near-famous (at least on TripAdvisor) Max Parini as our host and guide. Max is a historian with advanced degrees and his attention to details and passion for his city are evident the first time you meet him. Arrangements were simple to make through the email form on his website, and we received an answer to our inquiry almost immediately. Having discussed options with a couple of well-respected tour providers we had found on TripAdvisor, Max just seemed to be the right fit as he made clear his smaller-size operation provided a more personal experience. We asked for an open-ended two day tour of the city and he came back with a great itinerary of the major sites. Day one was spent at the Colosseum and the surrounding ancient city and catacombs, with day two dedicated to the Vatican and other major sites you’d expect to see. Along the way we were treated to lunches at two amazing locations where we received top-notch service, atmosphere and food. Max was an encyclopedia of knowledge and peeled back details and history you simply don’t get from a guidebook or by reading the plaques and markers on the walls. His knowledge of the history in the region, coupled with his stories of how life in ancient times developed, including his deep knowledge of the Greco influence on the development of Rome, were amazing. Along the way he uses his iPad to show maps, artifacts and period recreations of historic sites that really bring the tour to life. He tied the historic places to the patriarchs and families that built the city, pointing out details and nuances all over that you would otherwise simply walk by without noticing. His pace was perfect, with a good amount of walking (which we love), as well as a well-appointed Mercedes van that he used to take us around to more distant sites. He was also able to seamlessly and effortlessly move us in and out of the museums and monuments with virtually no waiting – a huge boost when you look at the length of the lines. He was always prompt and on time. We highly recommend Italy Rome Tours if you are visiting the city. While some may be put off at the idea of paying for a guide, I promise you it is far better than wasting extra money on a nicer hotel if you are coming to experience the city and its history. It is almost impossible to see and understand all that is happening around you without a seasoned guide. We easily could have spent a couple of weeks with Max and I doubt we would more than scratch the surface of what this wonderful city has to tell. Max is a brilliant story teller, historian and a just a great person to get to know and spend time with — worth every penny!
