Yuca was very welcoming! We loved her cooking class and learning about traditional Japanese food. She makes her own green tea which was very delicious. I definitely recommend this experience!

It was a real treat learning how to make gyoza and ramen with Yuca! The cooking class was a total of 8 of us and Yuca skillfully assigned everyone various roles throughout the experience. The hands on experience from making the gyoza filling and gyozas and the step by step guidance on making the ramen components are something we're already looking to incorporate at home. Thank you Yuca for thoughtfully showing us how to make these traditional Japanese foods!

We had a great time doing this cooking class in Yuca's cooking school. She is so wonderful and patient and the entire morning we had so much fun. Her home set up was very welcoming and comfortable. Just take note that unlike other cooking classes, everyone is sharing steps to make one set of food (each person does not get their own pots and pans, so it is less hands on than the other cooking classes I that I have been to. If its a group of around 4 I think its still great. I was in a group of 8 so it was slightly low level of work per person, just my personal opinion). Also take note that ramen broth takes many hours to make, so Yuca preps the broth and toppings beforehand so you wont be able to engage in every single step of the process. Theres no way to make authentic ramen within 3 hours from start to finish, so this is to be expected!! I am a vegetarian and she was able to make everything plant based for me- mushroom ramen broth with grilled veggie, and soy meat gyozas. Food was delicious and she provided green tea and snacks to everyone too! There is a market sightseeing tour after the class- its a supermarket not a traditional wet market. We did learn about japanese ingredients and it was cheap to buy groceries there to take back home. i would recommend this as a first or last stop for your Japan trip. My group was able to do this class from 10am-1:30pm, comfortably arrive in narita airport by 3pm via public transport, to make our 5pm flight back home. (her cooking school is just a minute away from the nearest trainstop and Yuca can help suggest directions too).

YUCa is the best cooking teacher! So informative and makes things simple and easy to follow! We learned to make ramen and gyoza and have made a couple times again since being back in the states.

We were keen to do a cooking class in a Japanese home rather than a commercial kitchen and YUCa’s certainly fit the bill. Her home is about 50 minutes by metro then bus from Shinjuku - an easy commute. We were warmly greeted, introduced to Yuca and the rest of our group, then set to work. Yuca is super well organised, everything is timed to perfection, everyone got tasks appropriately allocated, everything is spotless, and easy to follow recipes are provided and worked through logically step by step. Yuca then teaches how to fold the delicious gyoza - a lot of fun and we got better by the time we’d done a few. Table setting is the next step and plating up - then a warm and convivial lunch during which we enjoyed the fruits of our labours and some easy conversation with our fellow learners. Great fun, well worth every cent - we highly recommend this course. Now we have dozens of friends back in Sydney who have invited themselves to our place for gyoza and ramen - hope we do it well 🤞🤞

My family is experienced in the kitchen and we love to take cooking classes when we travel. We found Yuca to be a delight. She was welcoming, professional and prepared. Neither dish is very difficult to make and she had done much of the prep work. But there were small tasks for us and we enjoyed folding the gyoza. It was fascinating to learn about all the layers of flavor that go into a tasty bowl of ramen. Both dishes turned out just like the photos. A note, the description says a market tour is included. We did not go to the market, nor were we offered that by Yuca. It would have been tight to fit that in the 2 1/2 hour time frame.

Yuca was amazing. The food we all made was delicious and Yuca was a delight. The experience took place in her home. We got to make enough food for us to have a lovely ramen with gyoza which we all made by hand. Yuca was friendly and introduced us all to other visitors who were from Canada and Italy who also participated. The food was yummy and she even had some local snacks to try. We will be recommending her class to our friends who will be visiting. When we come back to Japan, we will be back to do another class. Thanks Yuca. From the Barr Family (55, 54, 18 and 15)

We had a wonderful time with Yuca-San. She welcomes you into her lovely home to share her enthusiasm for Japanese food. The course is well structured and she takes you through how to create the dish step by step. The other people in the group were really lovely and we all got to contribute. Yuca-San also showed us how to lay the table and plate the dish and then we all got to eat delicious food together. Afterwards Yuca-San offers an optional supermarket tour which I highly recommend.
