What an amazing experience! The sunset was absolutely stunning and the folks on the boat were very friendly and welcoming. We are happy to add this tour into one of our yearly “must do” tours in Salem.

We had the best time!! The crew was so nice and helpful. They brought us blankets and hot cider with rum. The sunset was beautiful and I got proposed to during the cruise.

We so enjoyed this sunset sailing cruise! Captain and crew were awesome and very attentive and interactive with all the passengers. Do keep in mind though, that this is a real live sailboat, so the Captain and small crew are working while trying to entertain the passengers! The scenery was beautiful, so you could just sit back and relax! And who doesn't love the blast of a cannon while on the open sea?! That little event was loads of fun! If you do take the sunset cruise, be sure to plan for the lower temperatures once the sun is going down. There were some blankets on board as well to help. In our opinion, this is a great trip to take!

I really enjoyed this tour! We dedicated a day of our trip in Salem to everything Pirates and this was the perfect way to close out the day. After spending some time at the Real Pirates Museum and learning about key historic figures, this tour really put everything we learned into perspective. We stopped by Finz right after the tour (which is right next to the dock you depart from) and watched the sun set as we enjoyed our food. Would definitely recommend to anyone interested in getting a taste of a Pirate's life.

The whole experience was so much fun, a nice change of pace from the typical Salem activities, would definitely recommend!!

We had a great time. We even got to hoist the mainsail and steer with the rudder! The Captain and crew were very knowledgeable and friendly.

This was an amazing experience! I took my girlfriend and she had an amazing time. Someone even proposed on the boat! Definitely will be doing this again!

The trip was absolutely incredible! The views were beautiful and the crew was so nice! Jake especially was cute and Jack was very sweet and made a good drink. We learned a lot about the history of the boat and the local area. I personally got to steer the ship and help pull the sails up. It was a very fun, relaxing and educational experience.

So there’s no actual “tour” portion. The description stated that this would be an interactive tour and you’d learn about the history of privateers. This is very misleading as there is no actual interaction other than them selling alcohol. The only interaction we received was being asked if we wanted to buy beer… once we said no the crew ignores us for the rest of the trip. The crew never talks about any history… So If you’re looking for a historical tour of Salem this is not it. This is just a booze boat trip.

The cruise was great! The boat is very well maintained and the crew was super friendly. It rained towards the end of our cruise and they gave us blankets to use. My 16 year old got to help raise the sails and steer! The canon was really cool! If I were to say anything negative is I thought there would be more history. They gave about a 10 minute presentation about the boats use during the war but that’s about it. That being said the crew would answer any questions asked if they could.

Beautiful ride great captain. Kids loved hearing the private story and watching a cannon go off and learning how to make knots. Parents can enjoy with a glass of wine.

We were pleasantly surprised at the vessel’s great condition and how nice and informative the crew was. The Captain provided historical information on sailing and the war of 1812 and the crew was really personable and friendly. Some of us took part in raising the sails which was fun. We enjoyed a nice breezy sail which lent itself to using just the sails once we got further out of the harbor. Great drinks on board and the locally brewed IPA is highly recommended. If you have never sailed before or are experienced, this event has your name on it!! Overall great experience!

Don't miss this unique experience - it is just magical to be transported away from the harbor on a sunset sail! As fairly recent transplants to Salem, this was our second outing on the Fame. In addition to sailing the schooner, Captain Michael and Crew provided historical color on Salem as well as the actual story of the Fame being built! Ask to view their "Baby Book"! We were invited to help hoist the sails or take a turn on the tiller. The firing of the canon at sunset was perfection and the weather cooperated for the almost 2-hour sail! See you next season!

Charlotte and Timmy's first trip to Salem , overall we enjoyed Salem, but the sunset boat tour was the highlight or our day. After a 20 hour bus ride, the perfect way to Find some peace in such a busy place was on the water, in this amazing boat. The owner and staff was absolutely amazing. Could not of asked for a better experience, when we go back next year we will book again.
