We feel so lucky to have hired Alfredo Santos for our private wine tour to the Douro Valley. From the very beginning of our conversation in the car ride it was clear that he was very knowledgeable about wines and about the area. We enjoyed asking him many questions and we learned so much before we even got to our first winery. The wineries he chose were all excellent, no crowds, beautiful locations, wonderful people doing the tastings. We had an amazing lunch, a rabelo boat ride on the beautiful Douro River and then another tasting. It was a perfect day and we were so glad that we took one of our two full days in Porto to experience this. Alfredo has great reviews and he has earned them! Don’t hesitate to book him if you want a perfect day!

Our tour was simply amazing… Not only did Alfredo take us for the day, he actually coordinated three full days for us in Porto. He organized a pick up at the airport with a driver, he recommended an amazing two bedroom flat on the pedestrian street, Then he picked us up and took us to view real estate, we are actually real estate agents in America, and we were coming to Portugal 🇵🇹 to view property, afterwards he made a wonderful dinner recommendation, and was available via text to help us pick the perfect wine! Day two he took us on the Douro valley wine tour, we had three stops at three amazing vineyards, Gueda, Quinta da Pacheco & Quinta do Bomfim, not only did we do wine, tastings, but olive oil tastings, additionally, he coordinated a Cruise on the Douro river, which was simply lovely, lunch was presented at Pachera and was awesome… And got us back that evening. During our tour day, he was so informative and explained Portuguese wine and wine making to us so we could understand the different blends and varietals. Also, a lot of Portuguese history, which was fascinating. Finally on day three he coordinated a trip from Porto to Lisbon, where we stopped at the Venice of Portugal, Fatima, and an amazing palace, the Curia Palace for lunch. Best tour guide ever, we miss him already.

Alfredo was amazing… The tour was perfect from beginning to end. He took care of every detail and was so knowledgeable about the area, the culture, the wine, the grapes, everything… I cannot recommend Alfredo enough… Don’t even hesitate, and please just book the tour with him. We actually did several days with him, but this particular tour Was the highlight of our time in the north of Portugal. He is first class, the vehicle is first class, and you will not be sorry. He also gave us great recommendations on restaurants and apartments in the area… He can handle any request that you have. He also coordinated boat ride and lunch was superb!! The best octopus carpaccio in all of Portugal I swear!!

Alfredo was simply the best, from the initial contact, to meeting us the morning of our tour at our hotel, his communication was top notch. It was a gloomy morning but Alfredo assured us there was nothing to worry about, as the fog would lift by the time we reached the Douro Valley, right he was. The drive to the Douro Valley took about 1.5 hours and Alfredo was an encyclopedia of information. We toured 3 wineries along with a fantastic lunch and a boat ride on the Douro. This is a tour that should not be missed and you can't go wrong with Alfredo!!

I can not stress this enough, if you are debating booking this please do yourself a favor and reserve as soon as possible. Alfredo picked us up from our Airbnb and proceeded to give us the highlight of our trip! On the way to the Duoro Valley, he explained to us so much about the area, the wines and culture of the valley. We stopped at 3 different wineries that gave us a variety of all that that Duoro has to offer, and had one of the best meals we ate during our trip. Alfredo also worked behind the scenes with me to plan a surprise proposal to my now fiancé at our last stop. He helped to make it absolutely perfect and we made memories that we will share for a lifetime. I think this speaks to his dedication to each of his clients to give them the best possible experience of the Duoro Valley. Book ASAP!!!

Each experience on the tour brought something to the experience that left us with an understanding of the area. Our guide was relaxed, experienced, and passionate. The weather was beautiful. Would highly recommend Alfredo as your guide.

What a great day with Alfredo touring the Douro valley. Alfredo picked us at our hotel in Porto for the drive to the valley. Along the way he explained in great detail the history and details of wine making in Portugal. Upon arriving in the valley the day started with a great family owned winery that has been in the family for 38 generations. Beyond impressed with the operation and their wines. On to the next tasting which was equally as impressive but on a different scale. Here we had a fantastic lunch paired with wines. After all the food and wine went on a relaxing boat ride on the Douro river. Nice change of pace and viewpoint. Then to finish off the day with another excellent wine tasting a a winery with an amazing view of the valley. Could have just stayed there and gazed at that view all afternoon. But had to leave to head back to Porto. Alfredo was knowledgeable, funny and safe. Highly recommend.

Our guide Phillipa was excellent and very congenial. We were rushed on the highway because of traffic in Porto city and then having to meet up at a winery with others who ended up joining our ''private tour''. When we were on our own with our guide she was very informative about the Douro area and her knowledge of wines and the region were evident. But when we were with the larger group the dynamic changed a little. This tour should not of been combined with others by the company because it made the required driving hectic so as not to make others wait. Phillipa was wonderful and did her best to accommodate us and the other group's agenda but our timing was subject to the timeline of the others. Thank you Phillipa you were great.

Alfredo is a knowledgeable and thoughtful tour guide. We are a beginner in wine but he was very nice and patient and shared a lot of interesting facts about wine with us. We visited three different wineries and each has its own characteristics. I can not decide which one is my favorite because all of them are wonderful. We have our lunch in one of the wineries. The food was awesome and the restaurant had a great view. At the end of our trip, we took Alfredo’s recommendation and visited a beach near downtown Porto, where we saw beautiful sunset. We really enjoyed our tour with Alfredo. Although it took some travel time to get to the Douro Vally, we felt comfortable in the clean car. Also, the itinerary Alfredo planned is excellent. We had Luis as our driver and we met up with another couple with Alfredo. Luis was on time for our early am pick up at our hotel lobby. He was very knowledgeable and personable. Our first stop at Gueda was my favorite. The owner was incredibly passionate about the vineyard. The lunch was absolutely delicious and I appreciated the recommendation from both Luis/Alfredo. The boat ride was relaxing. I enjoyed the 3 diverse winery tours and learned a ton about wine/port. It felt like we were with family. At the end we couldn’t leave without hugs from everyone. It was truly a pleasant trip to the Duoro Valley. Highly recommend!

I did a LOT of research before choosing this tour for my group of 8 women on a grand tour of Portugal and couldn’t have been more pleased. Excellent communication from Alfredo Santos, owner and operator of this business. We were picked up promptly at our hotel and expertly driven to our first stop, a charming family winery with amazing views and a delicious charcuterie plate with wine tasting. Then it was off to a fabulous lunch with wine pairing at the magnificent Quinta da Pacheca. Alfredo carefully choose small venues as well as large to give us the best experience of the region. We stopped at one more very small winery and watched the sun filter through the grapevines as we enjoyed the view. But that wasn’t all… the grande finale was a serene private boat ride on the Duoro River where we relaxed and toasted to a great day. Returned to our hotel content and happy. Highly recommend Alfredo!

We chose Tourvent for our private Douro Valley Wine Tour. Alfredo picked us up at our hotel in Porto and spent the day with us traveling through the Douro Valley. We were two couples and visited 3 different & unique wineries. We especially enjoyed visiting Casa Do Romezal and spending time with Luis, the proprietor of Gueda Wines. Our 3 course lunch at Quinta da Pacheca was delicious and the views and grounds were beautiful at Quinta de Pego. We also enjoyed a private river cruise. Alfredo was a wealth of knowledge. We enjoyed talking about wine, history & Portugal. He also gave us recommendations for other attractions. We had a wonderful day with Alfredo and highly recommend his tour!
