Gilberto was an excellent guide. Taught us about colombia culture while we rode to the mud volcano and the pink salt sea. Excellent experience. Highly recommend.

Mr. Gilberto Leon was an extraordinary, nice, and professional tour guide. He made us feel safe and very accommodating. We loved that he had a big, clean van with A/C! He helped us with our bags, towels and let us know what was customary to give the locals that helped us with pictures and washing in the lagoon at the end. Thank you for a great, once in a life time experience!!

We had the best time! We traveled with our two small kids, 3 and 5 yo and also grandma, 73 yo. We were able to go early and avoid the crowds. Gina our tour guide was the best we had the entire time we were in Cartagena! She was so engaging and also was just so great to learn from! We would highly recommend this tour!

Definitely do this as a private tour. There might be 1-2 others in the mud with you but that's it and you get to stay in the mud for a while. On the group tour you wait in line for a long time just to 'dunk' in the mud long enough for 1 picture. We saw buses with groups pulling up when we were done and I was so pleased we did it as a private tour. The mud allows you to float - it holds you up like a hammock. It's a really unique experience.

We hired a taxi driver to take us on a private tour to the volcano. It was the most fun we ever had. Even though the volcano is very deep, it feels as if you are swimming in gray-colored Elmer’s glue. Very interesting experience…. One of a kind. Make sure to bring a lot of cash because everyone has their hand out for tips. Not busy at all in the month of January.

Gilberto was an amazing guide and helped us navigate how to enjoy the mud volcano, and shared fascinating history of the area. The cost of going early & private was worth it - I can’t imagine this excursion with a crowd. We were traveling with our toddler and he was accommodating and flexible with timing, needs, and stops. A wonderful experience overall!

After doing some research, I opted to do the private transportation with the company versus getting on a bus with a lot of people and being there all day. It was so worth it!!! I would say to go early when it’s less crowded before the other tour companies arrive. We did the 7:30am time and our driver arrived on time and was awesome. When we arrived, we were the only ones in the mud and we stayed in there for about 30-40 mins before getting out and didn’t feel rushed at all. Bring cash for tips as you will have someone holding your belongings, another person taking your pictures and videos on your phone, the guy in the mud volcano (offers massages we opted out of that), and you will get a lady to wash you off in the river. We gave the money to our driver and told him how we wanted it distributed. The food was also amazing. We were back by our hotel before noon and were able to enjoy the rest of our day without it being an all day thing. Definitely recommend!!!

Problems with this tour & company include: - they arrived 30 minutes late (both the driver & the tour guide were late! ) - they only provided half the tour because they made a mistake in the description. When I asked the tour operator about it, he was very rude. In the end we were overcharged because they only provided half the tour we paid for. (We would not have spent $350 on a mud tour as you can see other companies offer this for way cheaper, it was supposed to include another portion to the tour) - tour guide did not speak to us, she chatted with the people there in Spanish. We had to urge her to eventually leave and then she said she had forms to fill out. I don't know why she wasn't doing this earlier. On all other tours I took, the guide talked to us and explained things. - they got the address wrong (luckily I realized this the day before and I corrected it so it didn't cause a problem, but it shows more unprofessionalism in addition to what is mentioned above) We were here for 10 days and did many tours with other companies. Every other company was far better than this one.

If you want to enjoy the volcano before the mass crowds this is the way to go! Yes, a bit on the pricey side but worth the convenience and photos of having the place to yourself. Gilberto our guide was friendly, engaging and helpful. The thorough message the day before was very informative and the only thing that I personally would have liked to have read in the message in advance, would be the respected amount of tips for the locals of the town that do the massages, pictures, bathing ect.. so be prepared to bring local currency in different notes, otherwise, everything went as smoothly as possible, we had a 7am pick up and were back by 10am (15 minutes for the mud and massages for us were more that sufficient although some prefer to enjoy the mud longer.

We had a great time. Gilberto did an amazing job setting everything up. I highly suggest doing a private tour. He gave us personal service and gave us a lot of information about Cartagena

Amazing experience! Our tour guide picked us up on time, managing our tipping, and even took us on a tour of the walled city after. Do not miss this one!

The mud was hilariously difficult to move around in because you are floating yet it’s super thick. Laughed the whole time! Overall it was great, except our tour guide said literally 3 words the entire trip. Never explained our itinerary nor anything about the volcano, nor the region, nothing. He actually was watching a movie on his phone on the van ride there and sleeping on the ride back. We could have just taken a taxi. It was perfect to arrive early in the morning bc it got crowded after our turn. Coffee in the van would have been good.

This tour was AMAZING. I did some heavy research on when the best time to come was and I read that by 9am, the mud volcano gets PACKED with tour buses full of people. We had the privilege of having Gilberto be our private tour guide and you have the ability to be picked up from your lodging. We chose a 6:30am pickup in Cartagena and we arrived to the volcanoes around 7:20am and there was nobody there but my family of 3 and myself. We were able to stay in the mud volcano for an hour (and had 15 minute massages) just to ourselves and by the time we left, there was only one group who came after us. Pro Tip: if you arrive at peak hours (9am - 1pm), you may not get as much time in the volcano (approximately 5-10 minutes) and you may not get a massage due to the amount of tourists flocking here. Private is the way to go and request Gilberto! He was incredibly informative, answered all our questions, and gave us the most amazing experience here.

The absolute best way to visit the volcano. Juan picked us up promptly at 7am and the ride was about 40 mins. Decided to do an early excursion to beat the crowd and so happy we did! We had the whole place to ourselves! One of the workers used my camera to capture amazing photos and vidoes. The workers in the pit took their time giving us full massages. Afterwards the ladies helped washed us off. As part of the package you get a snack of empanadas and a drink. For the tipping, we gave Juan the money and took care of it for us so we didn't have to worry about tipping every person who helped us. When we were leaving around 9am there were about 10 buses pulling up and the place was quickly getting crowded. Afterwards we needed to get some items from the supermarket, Juan was so helpful and we took us. He even went in with us to make sure we were good and translated for us when needed. He is definitely top notch!

Great visit to the mud volcano! It's a weird feeling in the mud, at first, but a great time and a blast once you get used to it. Gilberto was very informative and helpful. Definitely go early in the morning and enjoy the mud to yourself before any crowds arrive. We went at 6:30am and enjoyed around 30 mins in the mud by ourselves.

I just had the most incredible experience with Volcán Your tour company! From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. Gina, our tour guide, and Carlos, our driver, were warm and welcoming. They stopped for us to grab snacks and shared information about local events. The volcano mud experience was unforgettable, and the ladies who bathed us were gentle and caring. The food was delicious, and the lady serving it was kind and humble. A photographer was included in the tour and captured moments that will last a lifetime. We were pampered basically with a butler that carried our things and we were able to take in the magical moment. The entire town exuded love and warmth, even the adorable pet dogs! It was truly a 10/10 tour. I can't recommend Mud Volcán enough! ❤️
