Heike, our tour guide, was fabulous! She was full of wonderful insights and information about the industry and processes . We really were not prepared for such a great experience. Plus, the ride up to the mine was thrilling ( not for height averse people). Do not miss this!

The tour and the tour guide were excellent. However, the start point is hard to find; GPS was not able to find it, so we had to call for directions. Once we arrived, it was great.

We signed up for the private tour of the Carrara quarries, and we’re driven up into the heart of the stone cutting area. Although we had a car and guide to ourselves while driving, the tour was given to 3 vehicles full of travelers. The 2 guides were very knowledgeable about the stone cutting process and had unbelievable access to the active quarries. We highly recommend this excursion! We do have a word of advice for the guides: given the active nature of the work going on around us, a few words of introduction and advice about safety, before leaving the meeting place, would have been helpful. We had no idea what to expect, and therefore there was some confusion among the group about expectations.

My wife and I paid for a private tour including rt from the train station.Well worth it for us. Exciting but rough 4 x4 adventure into the mountains of marble. Excellent explanation of quarries worked for 3,000 years. The group tours heard our guide/driver give most of the information at the photo stops but some had to sit on benches in the back of one of the 3 vehicles or be 6 in a Land Rover. That would have been too uncomfortable for us. This was a “ not to be missed” experience and met our value for money standards.

Driver was very informative. Felt safe all the way up the mountain in our jeep. Went on a Saturday so no workers felt like we had the whole area to ourselves.

Whatever you have heard or seen on TV or YouTube about Carrara - forget it. One MUST have to see and experience the marble quarries "live". The vastness of the collection of sites is breathtaking. The ease with which truck drivers and guys handling huge machines navigate the steep rubble tracks is aweinspiring, as is the precision with which the marble is cut out of the mountain and then handled almost with a "soft" touch as if these blocks didn't weigh several tons each. And we wholeheartedly recommend doing a tour with this operator. Heike is not only knowledgeable but also very friendly, patient with her guests and she goes the extra mile to make this tour an unforgettable experience.

Excellent tour! We were in the mines with the workers, not just looking in from far away. A must-do if in the area!

Our private tour was more just a private jeep. When we arrived at every site, our private guide spoke to a group of other visitors along with us. Hence, there was no private experience. The Carrara marble tour, viewing the the mountain and stone, however, was quite extraordinary.

Highly recommend this tour! We had 5 in our group. Led by a wonderful German lady named Heiki, we were led up into the Carrara mountains in a Jeep. She explained the process of the marble mining and we were able to see all aspects. We did the "Inside Marble" tour so we got to see how they mine it from the inside. She was an amazing driver and handled the jeep very well on the steep ascents, descents and hairpin turns! Everything about this tour was great! Only 40 Euros per person and well worth every penny.

If you are in the area you MUST visit this place with this tour operator. Advice 1: book directly with them and you'll pay only 40 euros per person. Advice 2: not recommended for people with fear of heights or open space. Advice 3: do not wear your best shoes or clothes, nothing black or dark - the place is full of white marble dust and your shoes will be covered by it in no time.

It was an exhilarating trip, not soon to be forgotten. A peek in the wild and dangerous world of excavating the marbel we see everywhere around the world. My sons where over the moon with this trip.

Fantastic tour with English, German and Italian speaking guide. Super nice view and a never before experience. You can see how the marble is cut from the top of the mountain. Coming to the tour you can go through tunnels cut by romans. Amazing experience

The quarry was absolutely amazing to see. It was fun to ride around in the Land Rover. They took us to several different stopping points and we saw different types of quarries. The tour guide was very knowledgeable.

We were in Carrara in January, so we didn't have trouble booking this tour :) My two colleagues and I toured with Gabriele, who was so knowledgeable and so funny. I am a bit afraid of heights, and I get car sick, so the trip up to the quarries was a bit difficult for me personally, but everything I saw and everything I learned was incredible. I definitely recommend this tour for all of the thrill-seekers and others like me that just want to know how things work. Super impressive, stunning views, and just a lot of fun in general!

We loved the whole thing. Gabriele was accommodating as we reserved months in advance but no others had signed up a week before our visit. We were going anyway and he made it happen. Others must have signed up in the last week as the Jeep was full. We had Heike as our driver who was so enjoyable and knowledgeable. Both were fun to listen too and wow can they drive. The hills- the curves- the heights. All of it was scary and exciting. This was truly one of our highlights on our trip. The caves were a treat to go into and the stories they both shared were great. We learned so Marble, history and the city of Carrara. Highly recommended if you are in the area or even close by. Make the effort to go. Thank you Gabriele and Heike for a great day. We even got to go for Lardo!

We were taken up into the Carrara marble mines by our guide Gabriele, who was very knowledgeable on the area and the mines. He took us in a jeep higher and higher into the mountains - and when we thought we couldn't go higher we did. The mines are mind blowing and looking back down at the road and pits one could mistake it for another planet. We visited on a wet rainy day which added to the air of mystery - although I suspect visiting on a sunny day is more pleasant and would allow visitors a spectacular view of the area. It was a very enjoyable tour and highly recommended.

What a great tour. Our guide Gabriele was incredibally knowledgable, engaging and witty. The Land Rover ride (it is not a #@%^&*!) jeep was incredible, A bit unerving with the steepness of the grade but incredible views await. We went on a Sunday when the quarry was closed so we could hear the whole history from Gabriele on our various stops at multiple quarries. One of the best tours I have been on. You will NOT be disappointed. Carrara lard was also delicious
