We booked several tours through Richard and The Xtramile Tours during our stay in Puerto Aventuras. The tour was incredible, and Rich was amazing. It's worth every penny booking a private tour with him. He knows the best times to go to avoid the crowds. We had an entire Cenote to ourselves due to his planning. My elderly father went with us, and having the flexibility of a private tour was invaluable. We can't wait to go back.

Everything was nearly perfect. Coba was nice to see, even though I am not a big fan of ruins. Early start kept us away from the crowds. The chosen cenote was magical- I appreciated this more after visiting a couple of others. Sting rays and turtles at talum added to the full day of adventure. Highly recommended and worth every penny

Amazing experience for our family! We did two separate excursions with Richard and both were memorable and exciting. As others have mentioned, Richard will customize your day base on your preferences, the weather, the crowds, and his experience. Whatever is on your agenda, it will be a blast! Richard is knowledgeable, entertaining, accommodating and fun. Start your day early and Richard will ensure you beat the crowds.

Words cannot express the VIP experience Richard “Shrek” Capitanio gave us. We’ve been around and I can assure you you’re in the hands of an educated caring and well connected guide. Informative, unique, customized day from great food, amazing scenery and activities you felt like a rock star getting in without any wait in what are normally crowded, hurried piles of people. We were given the best treatment to an amazing day. There’s tour guides, then there’s Richard who was not only very VERY good at his job, but obviously well connected to the people who were able to give us a unique perspective and experience that was literally priceless. Am amazing day. Epic

Amazing, customed service, Richard had a clear agenda for us to enjoy places as private as possible but it allowed time to enjoy the different places. Good humor, pays attention to the group, shas insight about culture and is respectful with both client and the community. Thanks for a super pleasant day!!!

“Best day ever!” Straight from the mouth of babes!! From the time I booked the Coba tour to the very end, Richard communicated to make sure my family and I had an amazing experience. He catered to all of our requests and also went above and beyond those requests as he got to know our family throughout the day. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the Mayan culture and the land of the Yucatán Peninsula. Unlike my history teacher in high school, he made learning fun and had us laughing all day. Although I loved learning about the Mayans, snorkeling with the turtles and stingrays and viewing Tulum from the water, swimming in the cenote and getting our family blessed by a shaman was by far my favorite part of the day. I am grateful the universe urged me to book this experience with Richard, as there are so many to choose from. He appreciates personable, private encounters, avoiding the crowds and works closely with the locals to provide an amazing experience you’ll never forget. If you haven’t booked your trip with him yet, go do it now!! You won’t regret it!

Ricardo went above and beyond to take us on a wonderful tour when we visited Tulum! We went on a tour of three cenotes, saw the ruins via boat and went snorkeling. He was a wonderful guide and was super knowledgeable about the area with additional details shared at every stop. He also assisted me multiple times in finding my wallet that seemed to fall out of my bag too many times! We appreciated his kindness and would recommend him to anyone visiting the area. Thanks again Ricardo!

You will not regret booking this tour! As soon as I made the reservation, through Trip Advisor, Richard reached out to touch base on pick up time from our hotel and to make sure we had his contact information if questions or concerns should come up prior to the date of our tour. Our hotel was north of where this tour normally picks up (Puerto Morelos), but Richard was more than willing to work with us. Our driver, Alberto, arrived right on time! On our way to Coba, Richard gave us a little history lesson on Mayan Culture, name origins, and how the area has developed. He was very knowledgeable and made it interesting, even for teenage children! We were the first to arrive in Coba where Richard led us on a bike tour of the ruins. Being there right away in the morning made it so easy to go from site to site. We could take as much time as we wanted and didn’t have to worry about crowds. So peaceful! Next we were off to see two different cenotes. The highlight of the cenote swim was the platform jumps! Richard took videos of each person who dared to jump. He was even so kind as to do a free dive (about 20 feet deep)to rescue my husband’s Apple Watch that had fallen off his wrist. Customer service at its finest! Lunch was at a lovely restaurant in Coba. The meal was probably the best one we had on our entire vacation! The service was fabulous and everyone was so nice. Snorkeling was the last stop. On our way to the reef we passed by the ruins at Tulum where Richard gave us information about the site and we were able to take a few pictures. The water is a little rough but the boat stays close by and if you are having troubles they are right there for you to be able to get back on. Seeing stingrays and turtles were the best part!! Richard and Alberto were FABULOUS! Very accommodating and willing to do what WE wanted. Richard even took us on a little side trip that made our day extra special!! We felt secure and well taken care of the whole time. We would definitely book with Xtramile Tours again!

We booked a last minute tour with Ricardo in Tulum and he was hands down THE BEST! Ricardo helped customized a private itinerary that included cenotes, snorkeling, a boat ride to see the ruins from the water, and beach time. Ricardo provided pick up and drop off at our hotel. He was patient, kind, knowledgeable, and extremely accommodating. It was so cool to see the cenotes before the rush of the crowd. During our stay in Tulum, my friend lost her wallet twice and Ricardo went over and beyond to help her find it despite not being on the clock. He contacted the venues and drove around town to search for it. BOTH times he found her wallet and hand delivered it to her. Ricardo's customer service is simply unheard of. He also managed to find us the most authentic Temezcal ceremony in Tulum and coordinated to get us there and back safely. Ricardo is incredibly fun to be around. We could not stop laughing the entire time. Our experience with him made us feel like we were hanging out with a local. He knows so many friendly faces and you can see how people just adored him. Thank you Ricardo for everything you've done for us on our trip. We can't thank you enough and can't wait to hang out in Tulum again!

The entire day was perfect!! My sweet, blind husband booked this tour as part of our 15th anniversary vacation. We were not disappointed. Richard picked us up promptly at 7am and we went to Coba. We arrived before opening time so we were able to stroll the town. We were the first people to entire the site of the Mayan ruins. Richard has such a great relationship with the people of this community and we felt welcomed every step of the way. The sights and history are breathtaking. We were always one step ahead of the crowds which we truly appreciate. Richard was always very careful to take us on routes that my husband could easily navigate. So thoughtful!! Swimming at the cenote was a spiritual experience. Richard took us 60 feet underground and the water was so still and serene. It was such a relaxing swim. Just the 2 of us for a good while. We were leaving just as people were showing up. Perfecto! Then on to lunch where we were shown priority service with a full, delicious buffet including an adorable woman making fresh tortillas!! Yum!! Alcoholic drinks would have been extra but we had the Jamaican water and it was fantastic!! Next we traveled to the beach beneath Tulum and boarded a small boat. We love a boat ride!! Richard gave us some interesting facts and info about Tulum and the Mayan trade routes. We got some beautiful pictures as well. Then we rode a little ways out to a group of anchored boats where we snorkeled. It was my first time snorkeling and Richard was a great coach! He expertly steered me around the crowds so that I could appreciate all of the coral and sea life. Seeing a parrotfish eating, a turtle and two huge stingrays were the definite highlights of that adventure. My husband wasn’t left out of this part though. He was given a rope and able to enjoy the water around the boat. They even moved the boat a little ways to give him a ride. Everyone was just so friendly and helpful! After the boat we were allowed beach time and then it was time to go. Richard is fantastic company and we will be back to visit one day in the future. We will also be telling all of our friends and family about his tours!! Best money we have spent! Thank you so much Richard for the unforgettable experience!!

This tour bundles a variety of activities into one pleasurable day experience. Richard is a great tour guide who really wants you to have the best experience possible. If you want to experience mayan culture as well as the amazing wildlife and scenery that Mexico has to offer this tour is for you. The ceynote is the cherry on the top. My kids loved it.

We had a private tour for a group of eight adults. Richard was very accommodating to our requests and a fun guide for the day. It was great to get to the Coba ruins early with no crowds and to have the cenote all to ourselves. Lunch was delicious and we enjoyed getting a short time to browse the shop. I didn't realize we would be snorkeling too so that was a fun surprise. The weather was perfect and all around great day. Richard also taught us some Mayan history and phrases. Everyone in our group said this excursion was the highlight of the week! Yu'um bootik!!

This review is from 2018 but well overdue for a wonderful experience! Adrianna and Richard made our last day in paradise unforgettable! We had a crew of 5 girls, in town to celebrate a bachelorette, all of whom were apprehensive and slightly hungover the morning of our tour. Richard and Adrianna showed up bright and early, and were patient and kind as our motley crew got it together. They were warm and communicative right from the start. Encouraging us to confront our reservations (heights, etc) and really embrace the experience. The excursion was perfection from start to finish. The tour of Cobá was informative and grounding. I would recommend biking - as opposed to being peddled. The next activity was the private Cenote tour- which was a stark contrast from my previous experience in a cenote. They tend to get very crowded. But we got there early and it was nice to have a private and serene experience in such a beautiful place. Lastly, the snorkeling and ruins by boat was awesome. We then relaxed on the beach for a few hours and they took tons of great pictures, which was the icing on top. They are truly wonderful people whose warmth and love for people and life is felt with their every move. I highly recommend this tour and would totally do it again. Great for families and friend groups!

I had high expectations of this tour which we picked based on the itinerary. Correspondence with Richard was easy and he communicated well. We were picked up by a driver at 6am (i did think Richard himself would pick us up - but he apparently uses different drivers) Nevertheless our driver was prompt and van good. Upon entry to Coba Richard arranged for tricycles to take us to the center of the ruins - we were the first up Cobá which was great and the views were amazing! We then went to a cenote which had some great diving platforms - it wasn’t amazing but we have been to other cenotes. We then waited half an hour for lunch and had a very basic buffet at a local coba restaurant. By this time my kids were starving as we hadn’t had breakfast - it would have been nice if some snacks were provided straight after climbing Coba. The food was nothing special and our non alcoholic drinks we had to pay for. I think we should have gone straight from the ruins at Coba to Tulum and had lunch at a nice beachside restaurant and then done snorkelling. We were fortunate to see turtles and string rays - unfortunately the snorkelling area is packed and not well regulated. This day for 4 people cost us over $1000 aud and I think it was overpriced for what we got - we enjoyed the ruins at Coba and snorkelling - we would have preferred to have extra time snorkelling and to explore Tulum properly and leave out the cenote. Areas for improvement: - snacks for breakfast and bring a hot flask and have tea and coffee available - Provide towels - Find a nicer place for lunch - I thought I’d be seeing the beachside area and eating at one of the many restaurants on Tulum beach (Based on the tour info I thought I would have an opportunity to wander the main beach area of Tulum and check out the local hotels and shops) - We wasted too much time in Coba - both before the ruins opened and while waiting for lunch. Same goes for the monkey and honey stop. While the monkey is cute it was distressing to see it tied up around its neck to a tree - Include basic drinks (at $180us per head they should be) - Allow longer for snorkelling long and have your own snorkelling equipment and contract with a boat company (anyone could do this at the public beach of Tulum so it wasn’t unique to this tour - it didn’t feel like a private tour. So overall while Richard is great company I do feel this tour is a bit light on for value for money and more about making good money for the operator. Richard likes to wander off and chat to people he knows so be prepared that is just how he rolls. I recommend that you hire a driver and get yourself to Coba at entry - 8am and then go straight to a cenote and then on to Tulum for snorkelling and lunch and give yourself time to explore more the unique beaches, restaurants and shops of Tulum.

Adriana and our driver David picked the 3 of us up at the hotel at 6.15 for the start of a wonderful day of culture and nature. After a brief stop for refreshments, off to Coba. Stopped at a local butcher and tasted his freshly made deep fried pork skins (delicious), then walked from the village to the Coba site. First through the gate, Adriana went through the history of Mayan culture at Coba and its surroundings. The walk (climb) up and and back down the pyramid at this time of the morning is much less crowded giving time for Adriana to impart more of her knowledge. The meandering ride back with the willing tricycle riders allows stops at different buildings - as well as wildlife spots (the crickets are huge). Then off to a local cenote. The cenote is underground with bats flying around the cave near the ceiling. Clear water and we were the only people there (before it gets busy). Its very refreshing after the pyramid walk! Back to Coba for a traditional Mayan lunch overlooking the lake Then off to Tulum for a private boat trip to view the ruins from the sea. The boat then goes to the reef where the living coral and a multitude of fish provide the backdrop to the many stingrays and turtles that were around. A very good snorkelling site. We then had a brief walk along the beach before setting off back to the hotel. You could stay here for a few hours at the bars if you wanted but we decided not to. Whilst the boat provides snorkels, we could have taken our own and used it in the cenote as well - learning point for next time. Adriana and David clearly love what they do and Adriana is enthusiastic and knowledgeable making the day fun for us all and making sure that our experience was very personalised, relaxing and memorable to us A fantastic day all round

My husband and I were traveling with our adult children and their friends. Our guide, Adriana, was simply great! We had so much fun. You could really tell the difference between excellent guides who know their "trade" and those who don't. We highly recommend this tour. We had a pleasant short walk to the Coba site and we got early access so it was not so hot and not crowded. Adriana was also very knowledgeable and was able to answer all our questions. Plus, she is a very happy and good person. The restaurant we went to on our break for lunch was really good too. Adriana also took our pictures, which was good. Basically, she is very experienced as she did things even before we even asked coz she was that intuitive. She is also a good listener. All in all, this was such a fun day and we had a little bit of everything. This is one of the best "all inclusive" tours we had participated in. So, even if you only had money or time for only one tour, I'd say that this would be perfect! When we went snorkeling we saw a lot of turtles, which was such a treat. The tour was personal yet professional and that was what was great about it!

Right from the start this was a great tour from Xtramile Tours! Richard the tour operator called us the day before our tour and gave us explicit details on what our tour day would consist of. Our tour took us from our hotel in Playa Car to the Coba Pyramid, from there we went to a local restaurant for lunch which turned out to be one of the best meals of our week long stay. After lunch and some time to shop we went to a local cenote to swim in the cool crystal clear fresh water in side the cave. For the adventurous there are two dive platforms one at 25 feet and another at 35 feet!! After the Cenote we went to a local honey company to taste (and purchase) some of the best honey I have ever had. Once we left there we went to Tulum where we were taken by boat to view the ruins of Tulum by water which is a totally different perspective than seeing from land which we have done. From there the boat took us out to the reef where we swam with the beautiful turtles and fish of the reef (snorkel equip provided). Aryanna was our tour guide the whole day never leaving our side and from the time she stepped into the van at 6am she was in history mode! My wife and I have done dozens of tours in the Yucatan over our more than 20 visits to the region and Aryanna is by far the most knowledgeable tour guide we have ever had. She took her time explaining in detail all of the ruins and sites we saw on our tour and even climbed to the top of Coba with us (she also walked back down the stairs while texting as the rest of us came down on our butts LOL!). She also had Ricardo our driver stop at a few local places to give us some background and history on the local people, their rituals, and the different foods of the area. Ricardo was right on time to pick us up from our hotel in Playa Car and when we were done he dropped us right back at our hotels front door. Ricardo is a very professional and courteous driver and his van was clean and comfortable with cold AC and seemed to be new! If you are looking for a great private tour company with fantastic professional guides and drivers who are flexible to let you design your private tour then Xtramile Tours is the company for you!! All you need to bring is your bathing suit, towel, camera, and a few dollars for trinkets. Everything else is included. Aryanna even took pics for us at all the locations so we could spend more time exploring, and brought her mothers homemade chocolate cake for dessert! Thank you Sean & Kerry Hegarty

Xtramile tours: Adriana and Richard were very easy to work with, arranged everything ahead of time, picked us up/dropped off right outside our resort. I received confirmation within minuets of booking the tour. Amazing tour, the Mayan ruins in Coba, the authentic mexican dinner, jumping into the cenote, tasting honey, the snorkeling in Tulum was amazing and petting and holding a spider monkey for the first time was unbelievable!! Great experience, I would highly recommend them for a tour. CKunzman5

Richard and Adriana are a thoughtful, fun and professional team and showed our small family group of five an amazing day. Adriana’s tour was the perfect balance of interesting facts about ancient Mayan life and positive, fun energy. Loved her. Also, I left my phone in the restaurant we ate lunch at and she arranged for it to be delivered the next day to my hotel! Definitely recommend this delightful and experienced couple.
