EXCELLENT. I highly recommend Ohana Surf. The instructors are very friendly and knowledgeable. My 9yr old son never surf before, learned quickly and love the experience. Hugo is an excellent instructor fluent in English and Spanish, super friendly and fun. We're looking forward to meeting him again in our next vacation. :) You will love the experience too!

Riding the few waves I caught and the instructor was very informative. Didn't get to spend alot of time on the board or use the smaller one.

These pro surfers offer the best surfing experience ever for our family. The team of Hugo, Howard and Howard know exactly how to get you on a board and surfing in minutes. They are encouraging and supportive and make the experience fun for all. I would have loved to take multiple days of classes with them to advance. Hugo’s passion for surfing comes through not just in the lessons he gives but when he talks about his work in the community teaching kids to surf. So glad we found this amazing place!

I met a wonderful guy named Hugo! First of all, I was impressed how patient he was with me, as I had my fears to get back with surfing. And he could do this! I literally stand back to the board, and all of this it is his accomplishment! Thanks to him a lot for making me feel safe, self confident and comfortable! Great experience and emotions! Hugo was wonderful with my family. Very encouraging and patient with my kids, ages 8 and 11. Managed to get us all standing on the boards by the end of the lesson!

Hugo is one of the best teachers I have ever encountered. It was just me and him during our lesson and he was so pleasant and knowledgeable. He’s been surfing for decades and has been critical in developing Colombia’s surf scene. He’s incredibly passionate about surfing and enjoying life in general. Not only did I learn key basics like safety, board handling, wave timing, etc I also learned about the philosophy of surfing. With Hugo’s surfing advice I felt like he tied in general life advice that was related to surfing and the ocean. It honestly felt like a relaxing therapy session to “connect with the ocean”. The more I dived into this mentality the easier surfing became and I was able to stand up a few times and rode some small waves. I was there in October and the waves were quite small so perfect for beginners. Afterward, he even sent me great surfing books and videos to continue my surfing journey.

This was such a fun experience and Hugo (instructor) could not be better! I would do this every time in Cartagena. He has such a love for Colombia, surfing, and teaching. Truly amazing and even I was able to ride several waves! Great time for solo people, groups, kids, and adults. Don't hesitate to book! And it helps support his organization of teaching local children to surf for free. His book is awesome also! All around, one of my best travel experiences!

The private class was great, Hugo was very patient and caring teacher. I have taken classes in the Hawaii, Mexico and New York and this has definately been the best one I have taken. Hugo really cares not only about the art of surfing but ensuring that you are both learning and enjoying the experiance. Surfing is his passion and it comes through in the class.

Hugo is amazing! I learned so much in my first lesson I am going for another one tomorrow! I tried surfing a lot before but felt like I really improved a ton with his tips and patient instruction. Hugo is also Incredibly kind and helpful he set us up with a boat trip and knows all the local spots!

The surf class with Hugo was amazing! Hugo was really ambitious and we way he thought us surfing was inspiring. He always motivated us to give our best, however, the most important thing was to have a lot of fun, which we definitely had :-) After the lesson we had the opportunity to jump into the pool and calm down. If you want to try surfing, we definitely recommend to book a class with Hugo!

Hugo was an exceptional instructor. He took his time to figure out our skill level and what we wanted to get out of the class. He was so upbeat and happy to teach us which made it a great day out on the water. Hugo is so knowledgeable in surfing and just wants to share his knowledge and happiness in surfing and I could not recommend him more. This lesson with him was one of my favorite things we did in Colombia! 10/10
