Our tour guide, Peter was excellent. He is knowledgeable, personable, helpful and very thoughtful throughout our trip. The trip content was good, and everything was well planned and booked beforehand, with minimal delay and waiting. Peter and our driver were also very accommodating and tailored the entire day trip to our preference, including choice of meals and small additional stops which we requested. Highly recommend them if you are looking for a private tour to the Great Wall and you are looking for a personalized and awesome experience.

Trustworthy tour!! I travelled with my husband and 15month old daughter, so I wanted things to go smooth for her.. and it was perfect! They picked us up at the requested time (I asked for the time with less traffic to avoid a tantrum in the car and the guide was very helpful to suggest the best pick up time), the car was big and super comfortable with a safe driver. Our guide Amanda was super friendly and knowledgeable, she responded to all our questions about China and the Great Wall history. She also took us to a good restaurant and recommended the food that fit us best. This section of the wall is beautiful and I’m glad we got to explore, it wasn’t very crowded and being able to go up by cable car was perfect. Great experience in general!

Very fun trip with our lovely guide Rita! We were happy to explore and talk with Rita throughout the trip. The lunch included was amazing as well. The driver also dropped us off at another location we wanted to visit without additional cost as it was in the same area as our hotel, which we were grateful for! Definitely a trip worth taking~

Catherine Lu gave me an unforgettable pre-Christmas experience by organizing a special short trip to Geat Wall Mutianyu. I had an 8-hour layover at Beijing Airport on December 20, 2023 and wanted to make good use of the time. One one 4-hour trip to the Great Wall in Huanghuacheng was offered in internet. The wall lies idyllic in a watery landscape, but is difficult to walk on in winter because it has hardly been renovated. Catherine Lu recommended Mutianyu to me. Mutianyu is considered the largest fully restored part of the Great Wall. Mutianyu can be easily reached from Beijing Airport in an hour and 15 minutes by car. Then you get to the Great Wall with a short bus ride and a cable car. The driver Mr. Zhang picked me up directly at the arrivals hall at Beijing Airport, took care of all the ticket bookings and accompanied me to the Great Wall. Amazing experience! Nancy, our guide has been extremely kind, sweet and she taught us many interesting things about china, Great Wall and local culture. Nancy’s English is perfect, she speaks fluent and clear. She is also a great teacher of chine!!!! The water was wonderful and sunny (0 degrees and no wind). We are looking forward to visiting other historical cites with her !!!!

Just back from an amazing trip to China where we booked the “Private Mutianyu Great Wall Day Trip” with Catherine from Catherine Lu tours. What an amazing experience! Catherine and our driver picked us up from the hotel and we made great time thanks to their knowledge of several driving shortcuts. Once we got to the Great Wall, Catherine did a great job of staying close enough to capture incredible photos and share her knowledge with us, while also giving us space to explore on our own. We went at our own pace, and when we were done Catherine brought us to eat possibly the best meal we had in China! She recommended several authentic, delicious dishes, which we all enjoyed together. We were dropped back off at our hotel happy, full, and with a lifetime of memories. Throughout the entire process Catherine was very responsive, thoughtful and kind. We are not normally ‘tour’ people and tend to explore on our own, but are so glad we decided to book with Catherine Lu Tours. We genuinely enjoyed her company, and our time with her absolutely added to our overall experience in China! Super added bonus….Catherine was kind enough to even assist us with recommendations and a restaurant reservations days later while we were in Shanghai!! Very well organized tour with „Catherine Lu Tours“. Pick up and drop off was possible at an individual arranged destination. The drive to Mutianyu was in a very comfortable and luxurious van. We really enjoyed that. Our guide Angel was brilliant and a very good tour guide. We can fully recommend the tour.

My wife and I had a layover in Beijing so we decided to go to the Great Wall during that time. Was picked up at the hotel lobby and then taken to our car, which had a selection of refreshments for the journey. On the way, facts about Beijing and The Great Wall were spoken about and discussions exchanged regarding Chinese and British lifestyles. Once at the venue, we took the cable car up to the wall and proceeded with our journey through watch towers, steep steps and fascinating views. I decided to toboggan down the mountain along with Jenny, (our tour guide) who also spoke about more facts about the wall towards tower 6. We stopped off for a delicious lunch and then made a detour to Tiananmen Sq on the way back where again, many facts and figures were mentioned. I fully recommend Jenny, as not only does she speak great English but, is a friendly fun person.

We took this tour yesterday and it was absolutely fantastic. Jenny was not only knowledgable about Beijing and the Great Wall but also gave us a great insight in to Chinese culture and day to day life. We were picked up at our hotel, offered a range of soft drinks or beer in the car and driven to the Wall. On the way back we had a fantastic lunch in an authentic local restaurant and diverted via Tiananmen Square on the way back to the hotel. All in all, best possible experience had, would not hesitate to recommend Jenny.

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour which was just long enough, but not too long to ingest all the knowledge that Connie shared during the tour. Lena’s detailed knowledge of the Great Wall, especially of all the successful & attempted invasions from foreign adversaries was fascinating. Much like another walking tour we did the pace & timing was just right given the high season as we were able to see everything without it being too crowded and the way you managed our itinerary meant we really didn’t have to wait anywhere for any real period of time. Just be prepared to get up and out pretty sharply in the morning and wear suitable walking shoes / trainers as they will be needed. Along with Lena’s excellent command of English we would highly recommend her and the tour company to anyone that is interested on this kind of tour. Being lucky with the weather didn’t do any harm as the early morning sunshine and fewer crowds made this an overall breath-taking experience. PS to Lena – we are just sorry you got stuck behind a slow driver on the toboggan ride as we had a great time going doing so fast!!! The toboggan is a must for any inner child in you ;-).

Our tour guide Lena was great. She was punctual and friendly. Lena explained the history of the Great Wall and told about Chinese culture. She took us for a traditional Chinese lunch. The Mutianyu section was a good choice because it was less-crowded. The toboggan ride is highly recommended. We really enjoyed our tour to the Mutianyu Great Wall. We highly recommend Catherine Lu tours!

Our guide, Lena, was excellent. Called us the day before to confirm details, met us at our hotel with our driver. Two hour ride to the Great Wall. Definitely recommend the Mutianyu section. We visited on a Monday and it was very quiet. No queuing for the chairlift up or toboggan run down. Once on the Wall the views are breathtaking and the engineering feat stunning. Be prepared for steep climbs/descents as you explore. Fun lunch on the return journey.

Tracy was our tour guide, she was very friendly and helpful. The experience was great, the van that took us to the Great Wall was very clean, ac and waters. The ride to the Great Wall was around 1:30 hrs but with Tracy the time went by really fast :) she likes to chat and share some interesting facts about the area. Once we were at the Great Wall, she guided us and shared some history about the Wall, she took many many pictures of us. Highly recommend this tour and I will suggest asking for Tracy to be your guide :)

Tracey was a great tour guide for us. She spoke fluent English and was very friendly and outgoing. Tracey helped get us there early to avoid the crowds and took many photographs for us. She explained the history of the wall and later took us for an authentic Chinese lunch. I would be glad to use this service and have Tracey as a tour guide again.
