It is a cooking class at a home, in Surco. A quick stroll through Mercado #1 next to Miraflores, then a hour in traffic to get to the house. The class covers the same dishes as other classes; cheviche, Pisco & causes. The class was informative and the portions you get to try, ample. Still waiting for the promised recipes & photos from the class.

Started with 15-20 minute walk through Mercado #1 next to Miraflores. It took over an hour to get to the casa near Plaza de Armas for the lesson. Some of that traffic & some the driver getting lost. Maybe a vehicle change because it was only the two of us. We weren't shortchanged instruction time though. We have some experience with making cheviche & Pisco sours, but did pick up some tips that will help us make them better. The Causes were easy to make. And tasty, but extremely filling.

Very nice to experience the local side of Lima with a very nice family. It was amazing to make food together with the family and try the great food that Lima has to offer! Paula and her mother were very nice and it felt very relaxed and fun to bewith the whole family. We highly recommend this experience for all who wants to see the local side of Lima!

A fabulous experience! Get to know the real Lima, it's food and culture, it's people and neighborhoods. Paula and her family were incredibly warm and gracious and the food was wonderful. A definite must do.

Paula offers a genuine local experience, shopping at the market, travelling on the bus to her home, meeting her mum Mercita and preparing gorgeous causa, ceviche and pisco sours in their apartment. Everything was fresh and made from scratch and we enjoyed a lovely meal as we learned about day to day life in Lima. Before we left, Paula gave us great recommendations on her favourite Lima museums and restaurants and where to find the best coffee in Miraflores. All in all a great experience which I can really recommend for any visitor to Lima.

We felt very welcome and comfortable in the home of hostess Paula following a brief visit to a local food market and bus ride. This a very real experience where you get to learn how to make great Peruvian dishes and drinks, but also gain a real insight into local culture and lifestyle. Paula’s family provided excellent encouragement and back up support, particularly when I created a Pisco shower rather than a Pisco sour (embarrassing for me but they had seen it all before). Can highly recommend and they give you the recipes too, so you can try when you get home. Great fun that is best followed by a siesta given the great food and drinks.

I had an incredible evening with my hostess Mechita. She is a wonderful cook and she explains every step and makes it happen. The ceviche was incredibly delicious and I'm looking forward to cooking the dishes at home for my friends. A big thank you also goes to the wonderful Walter Manuel, who translated everything for me and moderated the evening. I can highly recommend the two and now I wish you a bone provecho

I had an absolute woderful time learning to prepare authentic ceviche, tapas, and pisco sour with Paula and Mechita. Paula is a great host and guide, and a fountain of knowledge on local cuisine. The trip to the market was a nice way to kick off the afternoon and get to know the rest of the group. Mechita and Paula received us in their home and provided an unforgettable experience in an authentic homely Peruvian setting. I definitively recommend this to anyone who would like to experience a very special bit of Peru and have memories to cherish and some new skills to take with you.

I thoroughly enjoyed the cooking class with Paula and her mom. They welcomed me to their home and shared the family recipes with me (which has been with the family for 4 generations). I loved the ceviche and pisco spur the most! They are very friendly and created a very memorable experience for me. I recommend anyone who loves a good ceviche to join this class! Thanks again Paula!

I did the Lima home cooked tour, with Paula and her mum Mechita, and I LOVED IT! Paula took us to a local market and taught us about a lot of ingredients, then we had amazing ice-cream, and then we went to her mum's house. The cooking class was so interesting, with lot of traditional old family recipes that you'd never get from a cooking book, and her stories were fascinating. The ceviche we made was delicious, the causa was a close second though, and it was topped off with a few pisco sours. The tour was fantastic because we actually got away from the more touristy Miraflores and Barranco districts, and experienced real Peruvian life, which is difficult to do when you're a tourist.

Paula and her mother, Mechita, hosted us at their home and showed us how to make two family and national favorite dishes, as well as make the delicious pisco sour. Paula toured us through a neighborhood market, took us on the public bus system, and did a wonderful job explaining many Peruvian cultural issues to us. Our party consisted of 3 adults and 2 teens, and everyone seemed to have a great time. We did this our last night in Lima, and it was a terrific way to end our visit to Peru. Thank you, Mechita and Paula!

My wife and I loved this! We love cooking, so one of the best things to do when in a foreign country is to get to grips with local cuisine. Augusto our guide was very friendly and knowledgable, and the food we prepared at his partner's mother's house was delicious and great fun! Would thoroughly recommend!

The cooking class was very good. The class was in a local warm family house of the cook herself. We learned how to cook Ceviche and Causa. We had to cook our meal ourselves, this was a real good and fabulous experience. The food was delicious. No worries for Europeans stomachs. Everything was very clean and hygienic. The water was treated and everybody was wearing "surgery gloves".

We had a great time at the cooking class with Paula and Mechita! The adventure started on a local marked and Paula took the time to explain a lot which was great for us. Arriving at her mum's home everything was so well prepared and we felt welcome from the first second. Good times! The recipes are really nice, very typical peruvian and well explained - we managed to re-cook them at home already :-) Thanks a lot - definitely recommended!

This cooking lesson far exceeded my hopes and expectations. Not only did I learn specific dishes I was taught a larger understanding of Peruvian cuisine with history lessons and insightful knowledge. Cannot recommend this lesson enough.

Highly recommend this. It was one of my favorite experiences in all Peru! Augusto and Mechita were so warm and welcoming and the cooking lesson was so fun. We got to mingle with other travellers, learn how to cook beautiful meals and were made to feel right at home in a Peruvian family kitchen. Mucho Gracias Augusto, Mechita y Paula.

The whole experience was phenomenal. My guide Paula was very knowledgeable and friendly. The tour of a local market was informative, and brought me somewhere I may not have been able to find or navigate on my own. Paula’s mother was sweet and an excellent help explaining the cooking ingredients and process. I highly recommend.

I was expecting the tour to be good, however my expectations were far exceeded. Paula and Mechita were a lot of fun and the beverages and dishes we prepared were absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who is keen to learn how to make authentic Peruvian food and share good company along the way.

I love the concept of this tour. After a challenging start finding the right pick up spot, I was met and we walked over to market and I got a detailed explanation on products used in meals in Peru. Then we took an express bus ride to the neighborhood and arrived at Menchita’s home. One on one experience, made my own ceviche, causa, and pisco sour. Felt no pressure. Got to eat and sit and chat. Highly recommend this experience. Note: haven’t received my recipe instructions yet.
