Very disappointing and overpriced. The tour wasn’t particularly informative and I’m afraid to say it was pretty boring. It was 13 euros for half an hour of being lead around in the dark to look at various uninspiring video clips. I would not recommend this and am shocked to see so many good reviews on here.

My family came with an appetite to learn about the history of Sorrento but left underwhelmed and having not learned much. The visit consists of being led around a series of incongruent multimedia snippets. The model of Sorrento in 1900 was quite charming and the eruption simulator was atmospheric, but not much more can be said to the museum’s credit, I’m afraid.

The guide was good but it was pretty much all in one room. Lights just turned on and off the spotlight different displays. Really not much to see. Not as I expected from the listing

This is an excellent way to experience the fascinating history of Sorrento. A small museum in a 2000 year old space designed and built by the gentlemen on the ticket counter, you can ‘meet’ the people from history who shaped the city over the years. You can also experience the 79 AD eruption of Vesuvius! Well worth a visit.

We booked to visit here on a rainy afternoon based on the TripAdvisor ratings. What a great move it was. The staff were welcoming and seemed genuinely gratefully for our business, which is rare these days. The tour guide was so lovely and clearly passionate about doing her job well. We all really enjoyed the exhibition, even our teenager (which really says something). It was fascinating to hear, see and feel all of the stories coming to life in front of us. Fantastic value for money, and just the right length of time too.

Although a couple of the media exhibits were interesting, and the model of Sorrento was beautifully made, it was just vastly overpriced for a museum of this size and type. The owner who guided us through was friendly and knowledgeable and had the price been reasonable we would have been happy to recommend.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly throughout our visit. They offered us free fans on arrival which was very helpful in the heat that travelled in from the street. The multimedia was very good and the recordings were very clear - something we had worried about due to my dad being hard of hearing. The recordings were very informative and gave us a good idea of Sorrento. I would recommend doing this trip towards the beginning of your holiday to give you a good overview of the area and ideas for ventures outside of the city. The multimedia representing what the explosion of Vesuvius would've looked was amazing. It was very well done and really helped to put into context our tour of Pompeii that we did earlier in the holiday. Although we all enjoyed this, because of the timings between all of the recordings, you had to move quickly between each section of the museum and there was not a lot of time to ask questions of take pictures in-between without missing some of the audio of the next recording. Overall, this was a good experience and we recommend anyone new to Sorrento to have a look.

Fabulous visual and factual history. Vesuvius erupting totally illustrated the horror. The guide was exceptional

Exceptional experience when we visited this museum. We had walked past it at least 3 times before deciding we should pop in and it was very interesting. We had our guide show us the exhibits and towards the end there is a mount Vesuvius eruption experience that was awesome. Definitely recommend this as a must.

Well worth a visit to see an unusual and Interesting history of Sorrento. A good way to spend 45 minutes right in the heart of the town and set within an authentic Roman wall. Our guide was knowledgeable and gave more Information on each exhibit if needed after the commentary. Support this new museum, a lot of effort has been made to make it an unusual and educational exhibition.

Beautifully curated and well told history of Sorrento. The various stories are imaginitively presented and the exhibition space is ideal for purpose and in itself a very interesting space. While approx 40 minutes from start to finish, it is excellent value for money and driven by a passionate proprietor.

A definite must see stop when in Sorrento. Only takes about an hour to get through but you’re able to see interactive history of Sorrento and even be immersed in a multimedia eruption of Vesuvius. I really liked the full scale model of ancient Sorrento. A lot of work and detail went into the exhibits here. Was even more authentic since it’s in an underground 2000 year old Roman tunnel.
