Amazing experience made so simple and enjoyable by Mahmoud (driver) and LT (Egyptologist). Picked up on time, made you feel at ease, very friendly and helpful Mahmoud took us to all our destinations in comfort and pretty much to the front door of everywhere we were going! Lots of different places to visit, first stop for a cuppa and chat about the day so we were fully informed and not left guessing what we were doing then into the valley of the kings - three tombs are included to go inside and look, LT sat us down and asked about what we were interested in seeing and suggested some tombs - they were all amazing- absolutely breathtaking and having more knowledge about what you are about to look at just makes it a little more awe inducing! If you want to go to king tuts tomb you do need to pay extra for this as the entrance includes three tombs but not this one. Then off to the temple of Hatshepsut which was again amazing, then a stop to look at an alabaster shop where you aren’t pressured to buy anything - literally 5 minutes of your day and was nice to see how it’s hand made in the area and we managed to squeeze in a quick stop to look at the collosi of memnon before lunch which was really tasty - they do cater for veggies too. After lunch on to an optional boat trip of the Nile - additional charge but you only go there if you have chosen to add this into your trip - it was £10 each and I really enjoyed the still of the Nile! Our last trip was to Karnak temple as we added this in too and it was just phenomenal! Couldn’t fault the day - organised around our choices and at no point did we not know what was going on. Felt safe and had an absolutely fantastic day, thank you essential Egypt and especially Mahmoud and LT! X

A private taxi (there were only 2 of us) met us at our hotel on time, the driver didn’t speak a lot of English and didn’t explain that we’d meet the guide in Luxor so we were quite worried we weren’t going to get the best tour. But obviously once we had picked up the guide all became clear. Both were very helpful and amenable all day. The tour itself was as described and the attractions hugely impressive and awe inspiring and well worth the long journey. The guide was very informative all day and helped steer away many unnecessary tip seekers! He didn’t try to push anything we didn’t want or were expecting to endure and tailor made the trips to our time frame and wishes.

What an amazing day, me and my dad were picked up at our hotel at 5am for the 4-hour long drive from Hurghada to Luxor. Our driver Sayed Ahmed was very friend and spoke some English, the car was very luxurious leather seats and air-conditioning. The roads in Egypt and very different to the UK, not in a good way but we always felt safe with Sayed. After a comfort stop halfway through and several stops at security check points we arrived in Luxor. Here we picked up our guide Ahmed Elconsul, who was very friendly and spoke very good English. He also provided us with some much-required ice cold water. The first item on the agenda was visiting The Karnak Temple, what an amazing place this is, breath-taking. Ahmed took us around making sure to avoid the big tour groups and had excellent knowledge regarding the history of the temple. When we left, we seen people just arriving on a coach, who we also seen at the halfway stop on the way. Next stop was the Valley of the Kings, our entrance and entry to 3 tombs were included in our package. We paid extra (card only) for entry into Tutankhamun tomb. The valley was very hot and we were glad it was December as it can exceed 50 in the summer. After we left the valley, we had a buffet lunch at a restaurant alongside the bank of the Nile. Next stop was Colossi Of Memnon for a quick photo opportunity then onwards to Mortuary temple of Hatshepsut. Entry tickets were not included but we paid (card only) to see this amazing place. Ahmed was more than happy to go the extra mile and come with us and guide us around the temple. He was always happy to take photos of me and my dad and sorted out refreshing drinks for us. Our final stop was an opportunity to watch stones being carved using the methods of the ancient Egyptians. There was also an opportunity to buy these stones. After here we said goodbye to Ahmed and head back to our hotel. We got back in good time and well before others who went on the coach. Overall, it was an amazing experience and cannot thank Sayed and Ahmed for looking after us.

Fabulous trip albeit a very long day by car to Luxor from Makadi, Hurghada but totally worth it. Collection was on time and in a spacious air con vehicle (10 seater for 4 of us made it very comfortable). Decent toilet stop on way and once in Luxor we collected our English speaking guide who was charming and very knowlegable and stayed with us throughout the trip to Luxor and the Valley of the Kings. Both locations were awesome and a must see although the temperature at the time was incredibly high for a UK citizen (very high 30's) so ensure you take sun cream protection. We stopped for a nice lunch beside the Nile river which gave us decent phot opportunities. All in all a great day and would certainly recommend

We had a brilliant day in Luxor, our driver was so kind and interesting to chat with during the journey about the history and culture within Egypt. Our tour guide was full of energy and clearly knew a lot, I have a keen interest in ancient Egypt so I knew a lot of what he had to share but that's not his fault, I've just done a lot of reading and watched a lot of documentaries! My favourite stop was at Hatshepsut's mortuary temple. Our guide didn't come up with us but did speak outside the temple about it and pointed parts out. This was fine for us as I knew a lot about it already and was the one place I was most keen to visit but had we not had that knowledge I think it would have been difficult to really appreciate everything we were looking at. The lunch stop at Cafe Paris was absolutely outstanding, wonderful hosts and the best food we had during our holiday. Such authentic food, we sat outside overlooking their farmland. We thought the trip was excellent value, we could have done without the trip to the Alabaster factory, we don't do "stuff" so felt we were wasting their time as we wouldn't be purchasing anything despite them having some beautiful and well crafted items, hence the 4 not 5 stars. Thank you for a wonderful and mind blowing day, we are returning to Egypt next year and plan on using Essential Egypt Experiences for a trip to Cairo this time!

We scheduled a last-minute excursion at Hurghada with the intention of resting. We decided to spend a day visiting some of the sights because we were so close to Luxor. We're so delighted we did. A private car brought us up from our hotel at 5 a.m. The driver was wonderful, and we always felt protected (which is not often easy on Egypt's roads!). Due to the early start, the driver even brought me coffee as we began our adventure! We met our guide Mahmoud once we arrived in Luxor (after a grueling 3.5-hour trip with various security checkpoints). Mahmoud was an excellent guide, knowledgeable, and kind. Throughout the process, he came to know us. we highly recommend them for unforgettable trips.

An excellent, well organised tour from start to finish with David our punctual driver taking us on a fantastic drive across the desert to the Nile valley and then to the Valley of the Kings where we picked up our amazing Egyptology trained guide Yasser (I really can’t speak highly enough about this guy!) Colossi of Memnon, 5 tombs in the Valley of the Kings (incl Tutankhamen and Ramasses V & VI that cost extra but well worth it), Hatshepsut Temple (I requested this for a small extra cost and it was unbelievable). Also great local food and hospitality at the ‘Paris restaurant’ overlooking the Nile valley fields. Finished in Luxor at the Karnak temple which was absolutely stunning. It’s a long day but absolutely worth it and would highly recommend

From the start the communication was very good which put us at ease. Picked us up on time, and we were the only 2 guests. Brilliant personalised tour around Karnak Temple and the Valley of the Kings with a very knowledgeable tour guide. Would highly recommend this tour, and Mahmoud was extremely helpful and friendly, which resulted in us booking 2 more trips directly through him, which we wouldn't have known about. When we return, we will definitely book through him again.

The commute from Hurghada to Luxor was efficient and the sites impressive. Our guide was knowledgeable and the restaurant we stopped for lunch was good. Neither the driver nor guide seemed to know that water was included in the tour and that the outside of the Hatshepsut temple (without a ticket) was part of the program. We only got a glimpse of it from a distance which could have been made more clear in the description. In addition, the driver hustled us by proposing a quicker toll route home for an additional fee, but we did not encounter any toll booths along that route (contrary to the morning route). These things left us with a disappointing impression.

Early pick up, good driver Ahmed, and very well English speaking guide Marweh from Luxor. They made our day long but perfect. We could avoid the heavy traffic in a personal privat car, heavy mass at the sites and gave super information about the premisses. Even our 12-year-old daughter listened……. The lunch was more than good with local dishes and a very fine local venue. Picked up at 05.00 hours and returned at 18.00 hours. Karnak, Valley of the Kings, Mummification Museum and Nile boattrip. The tour operator was very happy to compose our wishes. Thank you for a great day with good professional people. We even got ice cream on our way back. We can highly recommend this tour.

Amazing experience to be in Luxor. Opting for a private trip definitely saves time and hassle of getting a larger bus trip. Driver was great and on time. He even bought us an ice cream on the long drive home. Drawback of this trip was the tour guide could have dedicated more time and information into the history of Luxor. E.g. At Karnak Temple we felt quite rushed and have retrospectively seen that we missed parts of the temple. Furthermore we felt slightly pushed into add-ons (boat trip, £20pp) and were questioned why we opted not to do it and whether we had enough money. Tour guide spent a fair bit of time on their phone, even when showing us around. Optional extras: Tuts Tomb (~£8pp) - definitely do it We felt that if we didn't have a brief understanding of Egyptian History, we wouldn't have gained too much from the guides information. Also worth noting that Hapshepsut's Temple is not included in this trip at all. I appreciate it says ticket not included but we had to ask for a drive-by to take photos from a distance. We had a private tour in Cairo where the tour guide made us feel like nothing was too much and dedicated as much time as we needed. Therefore we know how well these trips can go.

On time, knowledgeable friendly guide, lunch restaurant ok. Highlight was Valkwy of the Kibgs. Paid extra for Tutankhamen tomb but was way smaller than expected, but got to see Tut. All in all a good trip, bring your own drinks though as it was a bit dry, got one on the way back.

Would absolutely recommend this private tour to anybody. We are very satisfied, easily the best day of our trip. Our driver PUGY (Mohamed) is very punctual and was waiting in the lobby of our hotel in Hurghada at exactly the agreed time of 5AM (he must have arrived early). The drive was very quick and safe with a stop half way to use the toilet and stretch. The journey was over very quickly. The car was a nice air conditioned Kia which is a bonus! Arriving in Luxor we met our amazing tour guide Mahmoud. Mahmoud is very knowledgable on Egyptology and makes sure you are perfectly happy the whole tour. He will make sure your time in Luxor is relaxing and enjoyable unlike other companies who will try and rush as fast as possible. I was very surprised how good his English is as it is probably better than my own. If I could tour the whole of Egypt, I would want Mahmoud as my guide. Lunch is included in the tour price, we were taken to a quiet cafe outside of the noisy city named “Paris Cafe”. The food was brilliant, and pre-selected to have a local experience. Only as we arrived we mentioned we had a vegetarian which was accommodated for without question. The views from the cafe are stunning overlooking cultivated land. The locations visited are exactly as advertised, and we had the option to visit further tombs at valley of the kings at an addition cost of the tickets. Mahmoud gave us plenty of time to decide whether we will visit additional tombs. If you have questions on anything, Mahmoud will be able to help. Lastly we visited a stone factory where we had a short presentation on the process of the ancient craft. This was very enjoyable, and I had the chance to try myself. We bought a small stone pyramid made on site as a souvenir. Tip to anybody visiting the valley of the kings, dress sensibly for very hot direct sun with good footwear for walking. Thank you again to Mohamed and Mahmoud for such a great day!!
