We booked this private tour in Rio and so glad we did. Our guide Paulo was fantastic. He got us to places prior to crowds. Hotel pickup was on time and communication prior was great We never waited in long lines and he was so informative and so professional. This was by far the highlight of our trip.

Most visitors assume that Rio is mainly Copacabana, the Favelas, Sugar Loaf and Corcovado. Therefore we allocated 2 full days in Rio on our S American sojourn. To my surprise, as I delved deeper I realised there was a lot more to explore. We knew we needed to have a private guide to be able to cover all our areas of interest in history, architecture and culture. I was recommended Gus Guia to guide us through the two days we had. He has a great way of introducing the many facets of Rio. Starting with the country’s history at the onset, to guiding us through the beautiful examples of classical, modern and futuristic architecture in the city including the street mural art. Being a vegetarian group, he even managed to ensure that we could sample Brazilian food through the vegetarian version of ‘moqueca’ and took us to his secret ‘find’ of freshly baked cheese bread, with its taste still lingering in our mouths. In most visitors minds, Rio is synonymous with the Carnival. However, who knew of the history of Samba, the Samba clubs and an entire industry that it supports. Gus is very proficient in English which greatly increased our understanding and enjoyment of our trip. He knows all the photographic view points and doubles up as a good photographer too. He even indulged our desire to visit an old Brazilian perfumier and knew of the branch that had added a new endeavour of perfume flavoured ice creams. Gus has a vast repository of knowledge and expertise. He deftly planned and made efficient use of the time we had at our disposal to cover the numerous places on our itinerary and interests. Our first visit to Rio has been made most memorable! There is no doubt Gus has had a great hand in it. We have already ‘booked’ Gus for our next Rio visit!

Gus was the best ! He communicated with what’s app about out pick up at the hotel. He was right on time. We felt safe with him and his driving. On this private tour, he catered to our needs and traffic. We spoke very good English and gave us much information about the sites & Rio. He escorted us through the fast track lanes and how to avoid many stairways. He showed us the best places to be for the views and where to get the best photos. He even took photos of us. Gus was the best! He was prompt in picking us up at our hotel and communicating through WhatsApp. He customized our tour according to our needs the traffic and the fog rolling in . We began with Christ the Redeemer. He even acted as our personal photographer. He knew all of the short cuts through the long lines and how to avoid stairs. He drove the car in a safe manner and we felt safe with him. We made several stops, had lunch and ended at Sugarloaf. It was foggy when we got there , but we were lucky when the clouds moved out of the way. I think that somehow Gus willed the fog to lift. He pointed out the best places to stand for the views and to get the best photos. He was knowledgeable about Rio and its history. Choose this tour with Gus and you won’t be disappointed.

Great tour! Gus speaks perfect English. It all went smoothly and efficiently. It was amazing how we skipped all the lines to the Christ statue and were there quickly. If I were alone, I would've given up when I saw the huge lines. The rest of the tour followed the destinations that I wanted to see, and Gus added some of his suggestions that we covered as well and I really liked them. We saw so much in just one day. All very well thought through and connected. I can highly recommend Gus as a tour guide.

On my tour, we stopped at three major places. The colorful steps, Sugar Loaf hill and Christ the Redeemer statue. The day we went was cloudy but the sun came out a few times and we were able to get in a couple of good pictures. My tour guide Karla was great and I would book with her again.

Prior to our arrival Gus worked with me to arrange a great introduction to Rio on our recent trip. We communicated via email, WhatsAp, etc. to come up with an itinerary that would let my husband and me learn as much as possible about Rio in just a couple of days. He picked us up at the airport and gave us an "orientation" of Rio on our day of arrival and later took us to our hotel. The next day we spent hitting as many of the "must see" sights as possible including the amazing Confeitaria Colombo (the most beautiful cafe I've ever seen). Gus knows how to navigate the bustling city and get you into even the most crowded places and where to go to "cut the line" so that we didn't waste any time. Truly an expert on Rio. He made reservations for us for dinner that night at a Brazilian steakhouse right off of Copacabana Beach where we were treated like royalty. On our day of departure, he arranged for a transfer from out hotel to the cruise pier. Our driver was prompt but spoke little English. However, when we ran into issues at the cruise pier he parked, had us wait in the car, and went into the terminal to find out where we were supposed to deposit our luggage and then check in so that we didn't have to drag our suitcases all over the terminal to get checked in. His mastery of English was not the greatest but his "customer service" went well above what could be expected and we definitely appreciated his efforts for us. Gus is a great resource as well as a great guide. We want to thank him for all he did for us while we were in Rio.

Best day in Rio! Gus was a great guide! He accompanied our group of five to all the sights. We visited Christ the Redeemer, Ipanema & Copacabana beaches, Sugar Loaf cable car & the Escalaria Selarón. We had a delicious lunch of Brazilian BBQ. I highly recommend this full day tour with guide & driver.

Gus is a wonderful guide and exceedingly knowledgeable. We were in touch multiple times in advance of our trip and we spent two full days with him. We saw the highlights of the city and even a football match, which was amazing. None of the trip would have been possible without him as the coordination, the route, planning and frankly the connections that he has and can make were all invaluable.
