A must to do in Cairo! The food was so great and enough to feed an army! Very generous and nice family and our guide, Noha, was so nice and told us many things about egypt. Thank you very much to the family, Ahmed, Reham and their kids.

Reham and her family were absolutely lovely. I was the only guest, so I had a private cooking lesson. The food was amazing, and Reham along with the UA guide helped me practice my arabic a bit as well. I saw her wedding album, her daughter Habiba showed me her drawings, and we danced and laughed after the meal. Reham even gifted me with a lovely scarf at the end of the night - a super special souvenir from my time in Egypt that I will always keep. If you are looking to really experience Egyptian life, and do more than just wander through the tourist sites, I would highly recommend this experience. It's wonderful to sit down and chat and really learn about the place you are visiting. I'm so glad I was able to step inside a real home and be made part of the family for an evening. There's so much more to Egypt than the tombs and the temples! The people are wonderful and this was also my best meal of my 2 week trip :-)

We had such a nice evening with our guide Marwa at the lovely home of Eman’s with her family. Such kind and generous people to have you into their home and show you how to prepare a few traditional dishes, and enjoy a yummy feast while talking and getting to know one another. One of our very favorite experiences while in Egypt!!

What a wonderful night! I had such a special time, and I felt so welcomed into their home. We had a delicious meal, and it felt even more special to have it during Ramadan. I felt like an immediate member of the family! It was a really great opportunity to spend some time with an Egyptian family, and to ask any questions that popped into my head. If you are interested in getting to know a little more about Egyptian culture, and so see what an Egyptian home looks like, and to share a home cooked meal with a local family, then you would absolutely love this experience! It has been one of my favorite nights in Egypt so far, and I would highly, highly recommend it!!

Absolutely loved spending an evening with Reham and her children Habiba, Ali and Omar. So very much enjoyed her delicious cooking and her bubbly and charming personality. Just stepping into her happy kitchen was special. What a treat. Marva, the UA guide, who was with us for dinner was educated, sweet and informative. A truly unique experience to share stories and a great meal with this fun and charming Cairo family - ! highly recommend it !

Our evening with Reham and her family was a warm and wonderful, not to mention tasty, experience. UA picked us up with an excellent driver and English-speaking guide for a drive in heavy traffic to Reham’s apartment in the Cairo suburbs. She welcomed us into her home with a meal of traditional dishes which we shared with her, our guide, her husband and two of their three children. Afterwards, we looked at wedding pictures, talked about our countries and ourselves and toured their apartment. I expressed an interest in learning more about the head scarf. Reham showed me how to tie one, and gave me one to take home. We spent a fun time taking pictures and friending each other on Facebook. At the end of the evening, our guide and the driver took us back to our hotel. It was an unforgettable evening and an experience I highly recommend.

I had a wonderful evening with UA guide Hend, Mai and her daughters Fatima and Farida. Rush hour traffic was heavy but the driver did a great job and this enabled Hend and me to talk about what was happening in Egyptian society today as we made our way through Cairo. At Mai's home I was made to feel welcomed and comfortable . The food Mai prepared was delicious and a delight to eat . She explained what each dish was and how it fit into Egyptian cuisine. As we ate we were able to talk about many aspects of daily Egyptian life:cost of living, education, healthcare, customs and culture . It was a great evening and I have recommended it to many people I have spoken to since. Many thanks to Hend, Mai and her family for a wonderful first evening in Egypt.

Walid and his wife Mai were absolutely gorgeous and so so welcoming. The meal preparation was very insightful and the food was delicious. We had some of the traditional dishes that I’ve read about before my trip so this was great to tick off. I would recommend this tour/experience for those who truly want to immerse themselves into the local culture. Thank you

This experience was amazing from beginning to end. We were picked up from King Hotel (roughly 7 min walk from the hotel I was staying in). After I was picked up, Walid gave me a the rest of my party a guided tour in his car on the way to his home. At his home, we were greeted by his wife and four children and given a tour of the house. From there, she took us in the kitchen and taught us how to prepare the dishes we were going to eat for dinner. There was more than enough food! The main dinner and dessert were truly incredible. After dinner, Walid took us back to the hotel were staying in. On the way back, Walid was nice enough to take us to scenic route and give us recommendation on where to go during the rest of our trip. This experience was FIVE STARS OUT OF FIVE. Highly recommended!

This is an amazing experience that I highly recommend for tourist in the area. The customer service was impeccable not to mention the high quality of food. Not only do you receive an authentic Egyptian meal, but you are afforded the opportunity to assist in food preparation. Through the experience in food preparation in the home, you are immersed in the culture. You are also given the opportunity to interact with a very sweet family - Walid, his wife, and children were very hospitable. When you visit Egypt, I recommend this is the first thing you do. You have the chance to get insight about the city and country as a whole before the rest of your trip!

We took three tours with Urban Adventures in Cairo -- the Pyramids Adventure and Home-Cooked Cairo with Walid, and Islamic Cairo with Shrouk. All three were excellent! I highly recommend Urban Adventures. The tours are well-paced, informative, fun and it's awesome to talk to friendly locals and be able to ask them random questions. Home-cooked Cairo was a huge highlight of our two-week trip in Europe/North Africa. Walid and his lovely wife, Mai, invited us into their beautiful home and shared a huge, delicious feast with us. We loved playing with their twin daughters and learning so much about their daily life in Cairo. It was an honor to spend that time with them, and we won't forget it!

We had an excellent evening with Shrouk our guide and Mai our host. Mai showed me and my girlfriend a bunch of Egyptian recipes such as Mashi, fried chicken, and rice with vermicelli. I thought this was actually one of the best meals I had in Egypt! Afterwards Mai showed us pictures from her wedding and shared some Egyptian tea with us. Finally she gave my girlfriend a veil as a gift! I loved this evening and I think Mai and Shrouk demonstrated how great Egyptian hospitality is. We truly felt at home in her house. She also has 2 young daughters Fatima and Falida who are adorable.

I came to Egypt and wanted to experience the cuisine. Here is the perfect local family to host the special meal. The hostess was beyond gracious and a wonderful cook. She prepared many lovely dishes such as stuffed peppers& zucchini, an amazing green soup that the greens translated to jute, another soup with a pasta rice, eggplant with a spicy chili peppers, tomato, cucumber, & onion salad, rice, chicken and an okra/tomato dish. It was an amazing feast to share with her family. Do not eat before you come because there will be so much food! (I made that mistake.) It was one of the highlights of my trip. The family is the friendliest and most welcoming. It was a great way to finish my last night in Cairo. I would highly recommend participating in this Cairo Cooking Tour. I give it 5 plus stars! Kathy

This was a fabulous way of experiencing the warmth, hospitality and culture during our trip to Eqypt recently. Our tour guide Walid took us to his sister in law Rere's home where she had been cooking up so many traditional delights for us all to feast on. We were invited into her aromatic kitchen where I got to help her prepare and serve her delicious offerings to our group. The evening was filled with shared stories of their culture, culinary delights and family. Rere had us all in fits of throughout the night with her stories, infectious personality and lessons for the ladies on how to apply a head scarf. We all had such fun, were so full after our incredible meal and chocolate banana crepes for dessert that we didn't want to leave. We highly recommend this experience to be added to your list when visiting this magical and intriguing land.

I had the great pleasure of a home cooked family meal with friends at Walid’s ( our tour guide, best in Egypt) sister in laws place ReRe.
