The Marines and their family members of Hotel Company,2nd Battalion,3rd Marines wish to express their gratitude for the outstanding service provided by Carrie and her Black Hills Adventure team. They put together three different tours when other companies were closing for the season. The agenda for each tour was well thought out, allowing for the most viewing possible. The drivers of each small bus/van were also tour guides. They provided running commentary that was the equivalent of a history class. The tours were a significant part of our annual reunion and of making it a memorable success. Our thanks to all on the Black Hills Adventure team. Semper Fidelis, Bob Martin

I am so grateful to Carrie and Mike. We were stood up by another tour group that didn't show up for our tour, and Carrie arranged for our guide, Mike, to take us to the Badlands that day and to the Monuments the next day. Mike is a Rapid City native who could give personal accounts of recent history as well as inside stories. He knew the best photo op sites and lunch places. And he was amazingly kind and accommodating. I'm sure most of the companies can take you to the sites, but what I appreciate most is their RELIABILITY and that they cared enough to go out of their way to save our vacation. Thank you!

We really liked that we were pick up and dropped off at the place we were staying at. The whole tour was exceptional even caught in some road construction and that took an hour off our schedule that wasn’t counted for but Mike didn’t let that get in the way he continued and finished with the whole tour experience. Thank you Mike for making our day very memorable.

We took a trip across the badlands. Our tour guide, Mark, had lots of information that added interest to the trip. It allowed both of us to look for wildlife or look at the beautiful scenery. The whole trip was full information. Also, Mark knew exactly where to go for highlights and drove us through areas we wouldn't have known. Thank you Mark for a stressful, informational, and fun day.

The Badlands is something to have to see. It’s beyond description. Picnicing on a bluff watching the sunset light up the landscape was an amazing experience. Mark, our tour guide was a font of local knowledge being a life long South Dakota resident. Take this tour and ask for Mark!

Absolutely a one of a kind private tour and all thanks to Carrie. She is amazing. Her service, attention to detail, knowledge and her fabulous personality made this one very special and memorable trip. I am a travel advisor that was looking to work with a tour company in this area, and I found it! 10 our 10 all around. You will walk away with amazing memory and a true friendship with Carrie!

We had a great tour with Mark. Mark personalized the tour to our interests and was very informative. Our picnic lunch with the bison was awesome.

We visited South Dakota in late August and early September of 2022. On August 30, we had a tour of the Badlands with our guide, Mark. It was truly one of the best days of our lives. Mark was very knowledgable, patient and he just knew where everything was. The four of us felt like we could never have seen so much if we had tried on our own. The Minuteman Missle silo was amazing, the Badlands were beyond beautiful and Wall Drug was so cool. We got our new hats there and wore them the rest of our trip. We also went a great place for lunch and had Indian tacos. It was a great day.

Our guide, Mark, was fabulous. We were able to see every animal-bison, mule deer, antelope, big horn sheep and prairie dogs-that we had on our bucket list. We loved the history he provided as we viewed incredible beauty everywhere. This is a tour you don’t want to miss!

We booked 2 customised tours with Carrie. From the initial contact to the end of our tour much care was taken with even finest detail. All our expectations were met. We had Carrie's Dad along for the ride too. Both are very knowledgeable and had great personalities which made the tours even more rewarding. Due to general conversation we even booked a side trip with Carrie. Would thoroughly recommend Carrie and her tours.

Exploring the beauty and geology of the Badlands made for an exciting beginning of our trip! A true highlight of the Pine Ridge Reservation tour was having two Lakota guides (father/daughter) and some of their family members along to impart knowledge, insights, practices and values of their rich and beautiful culture. Cooperative efforts to educate and build alliances of with non-Native people was evident throughout the day-long event that culminated at the Wounded Knee cemetery. Experiencing questions/answers; blessings; prayers; songs; and the haunting sound of the flute seemed to bring the hearts of two vastly different cultures just a little bit closer on this day - in the here-and now! Many thanks to Carrie and crew at BHAT for your knowledge, patience, humor, organizational expertise and driving skills. I highly encourage anyone who enjoys adventure and education to experience a Lakota Country journey. This trip far exceeded our expectations!

Karen Weik was our private tour guide. She tailored the trip to meet our needs & did an excellent job. Karen was full of information. We saw much more than if we had driven to the Badlands on our own! We also made a stop at Wall Drug & the Minuteman Missile Museum.

We spent 2 days with our wonderful guide Mark. He is the one of the most loveliest people I have every met. We went on several hikes and he showed us his favorite local spots, traveled to Spearfish canyon, Deadwood, panned for Gold (which my 11 year old son LOVED) and made it to the Badlands. His local knowledge and ability to pack a lot into a weekend was much appreciated. And kuddos to the gal who owns the company, she must treat her employees well, in an environment where no one can find staff she simply found the BEST! Thanks Mark for a wonderful opportunity to get to know you and the beautiful South Dakota!

I booked a two day tour to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday and this tour company and our guide, Jaime, did not disappoint!! We were staying at Under the Canvas and booked the tours through them. At first, I was a little annoyed with Under the Canvas because they provided little to no guidance on which tour to take. Fortunately, they did provide the contact information for Black Hills and I spoke with Carrie (highly recommend anyone to call the outfitters directly). Carrie was amazing and recommended that we do Mt Rushmore and Flume Hike for Day 1 and the Badlands hike for Day 2, instead of biking for Day 2. Boy, are we glad we listened to her!! On Day 1, we changed up the tour a bit because we woke up early and went to Mount Rushmore (highly, highly recommend - no crowds!). Fortunately, we had Jaime - Mr. Awesome Tour Guide - who just rolled with the changes. Instead of spending time in Mount Rushmore (which we already saw), we had the opportunity to really enjoy the Black Hills. Jaime took us to Custard State Park (where we saw herds of buffalo, pronghorns, etc) drove the Needles Highway, and hiked the Flume Trail. Jaime is such a great guide that he even kept us laughing during a thunderstorm on the trail! Day 2 at the Badlands was my favorite! About a 90 minute drive from Keystone, but totally worth it! The Badlands provides such a different experience than the Black Hills, so you'll get a better perspective of what that area of South Dakota offers. We were able to hike in the Badlands and Jaime showed us all the cool places to see different geography in the Badlands. There are many hikes depending on your physical ability. He planned the day very well, because after an awesome lunch of Indian Tacos in Wall, we were able to enjoy Wall Drug Store which was a treat! (Make sure he buys your ice cream!!) This tour truly exceeded our expectations and we were amazed how much we saw in just two days! Highly, highly recommend this tour company and definitely ask for Jaime, especially of you want to hike the Badlands.

Mark was very knowledgeable and friendly, and customized the day to our preferences. We saw incredible scenery and hiked some breathtaking trails (i.e., they were beautiful as well as tiring). Spent time at several different places in the Badlands, which I recommend, as there’s a lot of variation in topography and scenery. Stopped in Wall for lunch and had some great burgers. Saw bison, big-horn sheep, prairie dogs, mule deer, and (happily) no snakes. More time in the car than I expected, but the Badlands are bigger and more diverse than I realized. A little pricey but worth it!

My wife and I really enjoyed our Badlands tour last week! Our guide Mark did an excellent job sharing his knowledge of the area and his own personal experiences. He knew exactly where to take us for the best sights and views and really went the extra mile (literally!). We will be sure to book another tour when we return. :)

My husband booked a private tour of the Badlands for my 50th Birthday. Carrie was our tour guide and it was by far the best tour we have been on. She was extremely knowledgable on the entire area. We had just moved to the area and it was awesome to learn so much about our new home. It was freezing the day we took the tour, but she made it so much fun despite not being able to get out of the truck too often. After doing tour after tour, she still loved seeing all the animals and got so excited about them (I loved that). I feel that she went above and beyond to make our tour something very memorable. We will definitely be booking other tours and will use Black Hills Adventure Tours for company that comes to visit as well.
