It was a great tour through Vienna, with many insights and personal stories. We were a small group it was very mind-opening experience. Would recommend.

Amazing tour - it gave lots of insights about the various reasons for slipping into homelessness, and how the system in Vienna works to get people out of homelessness. Lots of aspects that I didn't know a lot about were cleared up - e.g. where can homeless people get food, shelter, and help in Vienna. All of this was accompanied by the crazy and fascinating story of our guide.

I really enjoyed this tour and it gave me a different kind of perspective of Vienna that i have never sern before. The guide told us a lot about his own experience and that was quite interesting. And two hours was plenty of time for pur guide to explain everthing and show us around. Definitely worth checking out!!

The shade tour was very touching and interesting. Our guide explained the different problems if you become homeless and that it can happen to anybody. Norbert shared some personal details and i can tell everybody in this group was touched by his tour. I thought about his story for a long time. I just want to express my appreciation for the excellent tour I took on Saturday, 7 September with Renate. She was truly outstanding. She gave us so much interesting information to help us better understand the lives of homeless persons. She spoke with passion, but at the same time gave us facts in an open manner. She encouraged us to ask as many questions as we wished, and that every question was welcome. She never moved onto a different topic without first checking if we had any. The tour was very moving and educative. It also gave some hope when I saw people like Renate who have managed to get out of the homelessness trap. I have to thank your organization for this worthy cause. I will also donate to supplies to Obdach Ester, as well as tell my family and friends about your organization. Amazing tour with great guide. Barbara is an extraordinary person and she provides a great insight with the good and the bad of the homeless living. We were very impressed with the information shared by her as well as the conditions provided by Vienna and last buy not least the statistics and research related to the factors that lead to being homeless. A valuable tour and a life lesson.

It was really well constructed, with a direct view on what means being homeless in Vienna, what is the situation, how do homeless people do. With a personal encounter to create a dialogue and dare ask questions. Everything in a really neutral way and from an inner perspective. thank you!

Me and a friend joined an English-speaking guided tour through the inner district of Vienna in November 2018 and enjoyed every single moment of it. Our guide, Dennis, was able to open up astonishing new perspectives on the situation of homeless people and their realities in our modern society. The mixture of fact-based information, personal stories and an humorous atmosphere was brilliant and made it rather easy to process the complex topic of poverty, social welfare policies and homelessness. The tour definitely sparks some kind of reflection on your own perception of troubled people and motivates you to question and improve your everyday contact with homeless persons and to strengthen your engagement in more equal and just social welfare policies within your local communities. Overall, splendid experience, highly recommandable for any kind of people!

Charles was a wonderful guide who gave us a unique insight into his relation to homeless- and houselessness. On this tour, we not only got to know his perspective of Vienna, but additionally were informed about the statistical, legal, societal, and social aspects of homeless- and houseless-ness. I joined the tour with my teenage daugther and her friend. I came across Shades Tour exploring the City of Vienna website and I am always interested in ordinary life and how local people manage their daily business. After the tour, I feel a different person, I am definitely enriched. I thought the concept interesting and the experience was actually beyond expectation. Our guide was really gifted in making you part of the tour, he had great mastery of participatory techniques and was both an excellent speaker and listener. He shared his story in such an elegant and gentle way, impossible to forget.

Great change of pace if you want to experience a different side of Vienna. This is more of a 2 hour conversation and overview of the homeless and support system for the homeless in Vienna. The guide, Barbara, was fabulous and inspiring. We see the outside of a few sites, but this is about the conversation. I came away with a firm understanding of what the city and state do for the homeless, and an overview of the various people that are currently homeless.

We met Charles and he gave us a very interesting tour of Vienna, telling us about homelessness and his own story. A charming and intelligent man who made the tour educational and fun. I would highly recommend this tour!

This tour gives great insight of how little it sometimes takes to end up on the streets. The tour guide told us about what institutions are available and what is still lacking. I highly recommend this tour!!!
