The fact that the tour took place off the beaten path meant we got to interact with locals at local eateries (food carts). We learned a lot about the culture and the people instead of just being tossed a few tacos and told it was "Mexican" fare.

Our guide was knowledgeable and well spoken. We enjoyed each location and discovered many things we wouldn't have otherwise tried. Xhantal was organized, pleasant and professional. The tips provided will be useful in the future. Overall well done, thankyou from all of us.

This walking food tour was unreal. Make sure you arrive hungry! Chantal was super friendly and informative. Providing great knowledge and history about the area and the food carts. There are strict health guidelines the food carts must adhere to, that she explained very clearly. We all loved it so much. We went to a beautiful market as part of the tour and introduced to the Mexican cuisine, produce and chilis. It was a hot day and the drinks and short taxi ride were included. Not a huge amount of walking which suited us in the heat. My favorite cart was the quesabirria. And at one stop chose a hibiscus juice that was refreshing and cold. The fresh tortillas were so good. We went to about 5-6 carts and restaurant and a frozen popsicle shop. Our only regret is that we left this tour until almost the last day, so we couldn’t return to the carts. Next time I will book a cooking class as well.

This is my second Playa Del Carmen Food Tour with this company. We were so fortunate to get Xantal as our guide again this year. I can’t say enough about how amazing she is and informative she was an about the Mexican culture and food. She took us to some great local spots and also a local food market. We loved every minute of it. I definitely recommend this tour and ask for Xantal. You won’t regret it!

Xantal led our group - 6 adults - on a food tour in Playa del Carmen. We visited 6 food carts, a food market, a restaurant, and an ice pop/ice cream stand. At each food cart Xantal described the food prepared and the accompanying sauces, spices, and sides. She shared the history of the food and talked about how the food cart system works. She described the history and economy of Playa del Carmen and shared with us Mexican history and culture. The market visit was really neat to see and smell the dried chilis. The food was DELICIOUS! Best tacos ever! Pozole. Yum! Xantal was a great guide. Personable, friendly. If I return to Playa del Carmen, I will take this tour again. PS - Follow the advice to come hungry. Do not eat breakfast! : )

This tour is amazing. Xantal was our guide and we were the only people who booked for the day. We were really lucky that they still provided us the tour. Xantal took us to try 7 delicious foods, mostly from street food stands. As tourists, we would not have been able to find this food without her so it was truly a unique experience. Going above and beyond your typical “taco tour” we tried many other authentic Mexican cuisine from around the country. She clearly loves food and has so much knowledge to share about Mexican culture and cuisine. This was a last minute booking for us and it was so fun and delicious. We recommend this tour to anyone visiting Playa del Carmen and the cooking classes offered by them also sound amazing.

We had the most wonderful food tour with Xantal today. She is the most lovely human, kind, and interesting to talk to. She had a wonderful knowledge of the food safety, preparation, history and which geographical areas of Mexico each dish came from. As well she engaging with our young son who felt very comfortable in her presence. We also can't say enough about the food. The dishes chosen were unique, extremely delicious, all cooked by local families with the freshest ingredients. The quality was superior. There were various options at each stop to help suit individual tastes or provide opportunities to get various choices to share. Definitely a 5 star experience. Thank you Xantal, we can't wait to come back and tour with you again.

There were three of us on this tour. We were picked up on time. Our guide spoke excellent English, which was helpful, because of the nature of the event. She started us by explaining to what was required legally from these food vendors to hold a license. It included regular health screenings and blood work to go along with a license. We started with a tasing of a family-owned business and had a choice of three to sample. She talked about the pork taco and how the meat was good underground overnight. It was amazing. We left this area by cab and went to a lest touristy neighborhood and walked to perhaps four more trucks tasting very different food. Some were vegetarian. All were really good. The next stop was an indoor vegetable and spice store. We spent about 40 minutes learning about Mexican spices and how to use the. the last two stops were for a bowl of soup and finally some ice cream. Our guide was engaging and interesting and a very nice lady. Great way to spend a morning. We wrapped up around 1.

Xantal was wonderful! It felt more like doing a tour with a friend rather than a guide. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the preparation, history, and ingredients in the different foods. The food was also amazing, with different spice levels to try with the different sauces. Highly, highly recommend booking with these guys if you want to try authentic Mexican cuisine!

Great tour of authentic Mexican food from the different regions of Mexico prepared by family businesses ranging from basket tacos to street carts to a small restaurant. Our destinations were off the tourist areas giving us an authentic daily atmosphere. We also went to a grocery shop with fresh fruits and vegetables as well as a large variety of dried and smoked chilies. We ended the tour with frozen fruit bars that were super tasty and refreshing.

This food tour was AMAZING!!! We went around the PDC area and ate the most delicious tacos, empanadas, pozole, and refreshing popsicles to end the tour. Everything was better than expected, the drinks were great, we were able to try local fruits, and the food and the people were awesome! Our host was super warming, friendly, and inviting. You don’t want to miss out on this experience.

I can only support all the positive reviews regarding Xantal's street food tour. Very private, informative, interesting and tasty. Great meeting point, great insight to street food of their area. I know a lot of restaurants which would be fortunate to produce some of the taste and quality we enjoyed on this brief tour. Xantal is very sweet, knowledgeable, personable and has perfect command of English. Cheers.

Xantal was really friendly and informative and we ate at many places we would never have explored before. Enjoyed freshly made street tacos, basket tacos, quesadilla, empanadas, soup, fruits, popsicle, plantain tacos and more. Also visited a local supermarket. Definitely recommend if staying in playa del Carmen. Good to get out of 5th ave and try authentic food that the locals eat.

Xantal was a phenomenal tour guide. She led three 50 somethings and a 26 year old on a tour of food stalls -- we tasted every conceivable kind of taco, empanada, chicken quesadilla, fried plantain with cactus (my favorite), mole (unbelievably good) and a kind of pork that they cook all night. She also took us on a tour of a market, showing us all the different kinds of peppers, honey, hot sauces, and fruits. She finished with wonderful popsicles in every conceivable kind of flavor (mango and chili for example). We were stuffed and had learned SO much about Mexico, the flavors of food, and Xantal, who was so warm and welcoming (ask her about her husband's bakery). It was one of the best tours I've done, really worth it.
