Lindsay was so engaging, informative and a great back country chef1 Beautiful scenery with a sunset view. Blown away that we could create an Indian buffet, including naan from scratch at the top of a mountain!

We are a family of 2 parents, 3 daughters in their twenties and 1 son-in-law. When we booked the tour I was a bit apprehensive since I have 2 knee replacements and I wasn’t sure whether I would make it to the peak. But Lindsey, our extremely enthusiastic guide, stopped from time to time and gave some nice-to-know bits about the Jasper fauna and flora (and rocks as she called herself a rock nerd) so that I could easily do the hike at my own pace while we were all learning a lot. At the top Lindsey started to set up everything so that we could cook a wonderful meal (we even made cheese starting from milk powder; impressive!). This really was a very nice activity that we wholeheartedly recommend. It was an extreme nature experience with an extremely nice guide (and yes, extreme was the word of the day 😉).

We are a blended family, with 3 teenagers (17, 15, 14) who did a Peak Nic in Jasper during our vacation. What. A. Great. Time!!!!!! Lindsey was our guide - picked us up as scheduled outside our hotel after we got a heads-up text prior to it. Had a delightful short ride to the trailhead where we met up with another group joining (total of 7 people on our hike + Lindsey). We split up the gear in provided backpacks, carried our own water (but she had extras we also threw in), and began the ascent. Loved how we got to stop and appreciate different growth patterns and where animals might bed down, etc. during the hike up. Lindsey was super engaging with otherwise typical teenagers, and made an effort to make sure everyone was included. Once atop the mountain, we made a choice on where to set up the 'kitchen' and got to work. I won't spoil the menu, but it was delightful and had something for everyone - the kids loved the 'science' behind it all...that'll make sense when you do it! Then we began a quick descent and were back at the trailhead. I would absolutely recommend doing this activity - the ascent was challenging but doable for the average individual, and the descent was challenging and steep in places but by no means overwhelming or difficult. I would actually consider this a MUST DO in Jasper!

My wife and I absolutely adored our time with Lindsay on the Peak Nic hike. It is truly one of the most unique experiences that we’ve had on our trip here in Canada. Lindsay made us feel right at home, including giving us fun tidbits about the ecology of the area. If necessary, Lindsay was going to fight a grizzly bear, bare-handed. Luckily, it didn’t come to that. But I had full confidence in her ability to best the apex predator of the Rockies. Lindsay, tell your boss that you deserve a raise!

Admittedly, when family members planned this activity on our recent travels to the Canadian Rockies I was skeptical. The idea of lugging packs of food and gear up a mountain to cook our own food was an undertaking approached with a fair degree of circumspection. My misgivings, as I quickly discovered, were completely unfounded. Our guide Lindsey was friendly, welcoming and above all radiated enthusiasm. Our packs were light, the hike was both scenic and educational as Lindsey gave us volumes of information on various aspects of the surrounding nature. Atop the mountain we picked our outdoor kitchen spot and set about the cook which included a mix of ingredients which, at the conclusion resulted in a feast exceeding most weeknight meals. I will not give away the menu here but rest assured, you will not be disappointed. The views were spectacular. Lindsey went above and beyond to guide, help and make it a memorable experience which I shall cherish. Don't ask why...just do this activity.

I would highly recommend the Peak Nic tour! Our guide Lindsey was amazing and very knowledgeable about the Jasper area. We learned about the local wildlife species and went at a pace to really soak up being in nature. The food was restaurant quality and you are able to soak up beautiful views while eating lunch.

I can't say enough about the hiking and and cooking up Old Fort Point Trail for a Peak-Nic with Estelle. She is such an informative guide who taught us about the areas vegetation and animals along the way up. Estelle's knowledge of backcountry cooking and tips was inspiring and the recipe she made was delicious! What a stunning sunset view for dinner overlooking Jasper and the valley. I couldn't have pictured a better experience of hiking, food and fun! When in Jasper, I HIGHLY recommend checking out Jasper Food Tours for a local fun experience!

Estelle met us for a customized hike at the Old Fort Trail with my 19 year old and my parents 82 and 70! She is so conscientious, educated and knowledgable of the areas vegetation and animals, a great story teller and fun theoughout the hike. She kept us moving but aware of our limitations. She allowed us to take time along the way to take it all in! We saw 2 Rams and learned a ton about the history of the area as well as spotting little blooming flowers, bear and elk tracks. It was a wonderful 2 hours worth every cent! My parents loved it and will bring friends to meet with Estelle later in the summer! THANK YOU Estelle, you made our trip to Jasper special!

Of all the experiences my new wife and I shared during our honeymoon in Canada, our morning hiking and cooking with Estelle from Jasper Food Tours is definitely our favorite. The hike/nature tour leading to the peak was full information about the national park and the history of the land it occupies. The PeakNic at the summit was incredibly thought-out and we'll executed. The food was prepared with care. Everything we hiked up with was used and repacked for a clean hike back down. I would definitely recommend this activity to anyone visiting Jasper, and will definitely return for another PeakNic with family and friends.

Our great guide Derek let us up in the mountains to see some amazing views. He also thaught us about the food the forest has to offer. As finish off we cooked dinner together at the top of the mountains. An amazing end of a beautiful day 😊

Amazing activity to do with the family in Jasper. You start off with a nice hike through a beautiful forest, then come across lots of amazing views. The cooking was also very nice and delicious, despite of the rain. Guide Derek did an amazing job!!

If you're headed to Jasper, I HIGHLY recommend doing the Peak-Nic with Jasper Food Tours! We went for sunset, and the hike up the mountain had such amazing views! (Even with the smoke from wildfires in BC). Our guide was phenomenal - incredibly knowledgable about the area, the animals, Jasper's history, every kind of berry or tree etc... as well as with her cooking! You can tell she is very passionate about what she does :) Our entire meal was made from scratch and DELICIOUS! Now I can say that I've done some backcountry gourmet cooking on top of a mountain in Jasper. Thank you for such a huge highlight of our trip!

Estelle was a wealth of knowledge about the forest and Jasper in general. We enjoyed our hike and were blown away by the food. We requested gluten free and she even tried some recipes the night before to test it out. We would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for something unique.

My husband and I did the Peak Nic with Estelle and Derek of Jasper Food Tours and are so glad we did. Prior to booking, Estelle was prompt with communication. During the hike, we learned about local flora and fauna, geology, and history. When we got to the peak the views of Jasper and surrounding area were stunning - an amazing backdrop for cooking and eating. Estelle planned an excellent meal and we had fun preparing different dishes including bannock, chilli, chai, dahl, and rice. Estelle was very knowledgeable about food preparation and very environmentally conscience. An excellent afternoon in Jasper and I would highly recommend!
