Best tour we did on our trip. Desafio was great. Very accommodating and safety conscious, clear with instructions, wonderful transportation, personable and funny. They food was great too. Would recommend hands down. I do think they should mention to people before the trip that only cash is accepted for buying photos at the end. We did not have enough so couldn't buy.

The Mambo combo tour was an excellent choice for our family. Everything was very well organized and the tour operators made sure all the equipment is on safe.

My 10 year old son and I had a full day of adventure with Desafio doing the canyoneering trip in the morning followed by rafting on the Balsa River in the afternoon. Both excursions were excellent. The staff and guides are top notch and we always felt extremely safe and comfortable. The Lost Canyon was beautiful and included a variety of experiences-- walking in canyons, rappelling and zip-lining down waterfalls. The Balsa River rafting was exciting (Class 3) and we were also able to see an iguana, a sloth and many birds along the way. Our guide, Carlos, was excellent and great with my son. Really appreciated the small touches like a breakfast burrito between activities, fresh fruit break while rafting and towels after we finished rafting. Highly recommend this tour!

We did the Mambo Combo Canyoning and Rafting trip with Desafio Costa Rica. They Picked us up a little earlier than stated in their correspondence with us, but it was fine. Waterfall rappelling in Lost Canyon was first on the agenda. They gave us some of our instructions on the van and the rest at their base camp. They did a demo of repelling. We were strapped into our gear and drove to the entry point. We felt very safe the entire time. I loved that while I controlled the speed and manner which I went down, they had a safety line controlling us just in case something went wrong. To rappel and zip line down the faces of such beautiful waterfalls is just breathtaking. It's Thrilling and stunning all in one...you will get wet, but that's part of the amazingness, you are IN a waterfall... And it was gorgeous. You have to keep moving, but you just want to stand there and take it all in. The hike back up is tough, but they were very patient and encouraging. It's not too long of a hike. I would do it again and again!! The staff demonstrated how experienced they are and were friendly and encouraging the entire trip. After rappelling, we loaded up on the van to head toward white water rafting. We were served a big delicious grilled burrito with amazing fresh made plantain chips. They used the travel time to the Balsa River for a rafting safety talk. We felt the raft was not balanced quite right, but we all stayed in the boat and saw some amazing scenery and animals. At one point we saw a sloth hanging from the tree and almost seemed to be waving at us as we went by. The guide was very good and gave great instructions and info about the river, animals and area. The trip stops about two-thirds of the way for a break of fresh fruit and water. Afterwards at their base camp, they fed us a really delicious, fresh cooked full meal of beans and rice, chicken, beef/potatoes, plantains and salad. It was filling and very good.

This was a well-organized trip with guides who make sure you have fun. I can’t pick one favorite thing because it was all great—-the adventure, the scenery, the pictures, the food. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

We had so much fun with our “fluffy bunny” crew. Me really enjoyed the rappelling, especially the “shower”! The river rafting was amazing and it was one of the best rafting trips I have ever taken. We got a delicious burrito to eat after the canyoning and then after river rafting we enjoyed an authentic Costa Rican meal. Highlight of our trip! If you want to purchase photos you need cash.

We had a fantastic time doing the mambo combo with this team, from the rappelling/ziplining to the white water rafting, the entire day was amazing! To the entire crew, you’re the best! As much as I love rappelling/zipping, my favorite thing from the day was rafting with our ‘bad bunny’ crew, Fluffy is a fantastic guide and made the experience so memorable. Definitely recommend getting the photos, absolutely worth it. The ‘paparazzi’ is great and captures the best moments.

My family of 7 (ages 18 up to 53), all first time rappelling and a couple of us first time white water rafting had an awesome time on the Mambo Combo tour! While we were nervous for the waterfall repelling, we quickly were made to feel at ease with the thorough instructions by our guides and were able to completely enjoy the thrilling experience. The guides kept us moving through the canyon efficiently and made the day fun with their lighthearted yet professional instructions. After that, the delicious breakfast burrito and plantain chips served in the van as we traveled to the rafting input truly hit the spot! The rafting was fun as well! We saw several sloths along the way during the calmer river stretches. The pineapple served (and other fruit) during the snack break on the riverbank halfway down the course was the absolute best I’ve ever had! I couldn’t stop eating that pineapple. Lol Afterwards, we rode back into town for a delicious lunch to end the day.

Me (58) and my daughter (19) had a brilliant day and couldn’t have chosen a better package and company. The staff were very knowledgeable and experienced. We felt safe at all times. Rafting was very good fun. Our guide Ema (El Pelusa) was fantastic and we had a very good laugh with him. The food was very good too. Muchas gracias chicos por hacer nuestro viaje inolvidable.

This was by far a highlight of our trip!! Starting off the morning with the beautiful views from the jungle & enjoying an amazing waterfall repelling / ziplining experience. Our guide Luis was fantastic! Between each repelling station, we were able to hike through the beautiful forest & get wet!! Since we were already soaked from the waterfall, the rafting was just the cherry on top! Our guide Ema was amazing - he was super helpful & guided us through every rapid. The best part? THE FOOD! We had such amazing breakfast burritos & authentic Costa Rican Lunch at the end. 11/10 experience for sure.

BLUF: We had a super fun time, it was well organized, and a good value. They don't provide a ton of detail upfront, so I'll provide it here: -You will first be shuttled to their building with lockers, toilets, and showers. This is where you collect the canyoning gear and lock up your personal items. -You are then shuttled to the starting point where you first have a how-to and safety overview. It's quick, but enough. I will say that some of their harnesses are very worn and should be replaced soon. I recommend checking yours and asking for a different one if you are not comfortable with it. -You then start the canyoning. It goes very quickly as they are running a smooth operation. We felt safe the entire time. You are deep within a canyon that is a special place to be with really cool scenery. -You will get WET (and stay wet). Chacos were the right call for footwear for us. We had a nice day but I could see how it could be a bit chilly under different conditions. -There's 4 or 5 canyoning points that are also zipline-like. -After this part you go back to the lockers and are provided with towels. -Those who are doing the rafting with be transported to the next location which is about a 40 minute ride with a delicious breakfast burrito for fuel. -Note: the rafting is run by a separate company -You'll be geared up at the rafting HQ and given a quick safety overview -The rafting is a BLAST and the river is WILD! not for the faint of heart. Again, you will get soaking wet. Guaranteed. -The guide does much of the steering and tells you what to do the entire time. We felt safe -The river is gorgeous and we saw many iguanas and sloths in the trees during calmer sections -There is a small beach area about half way through that you get a break and a fruit snack -After rafting you go back to the canyoning tour operator's office for a yummy full meal. Bring a change of clothes for this part!

Once you get there, your day will be set and will be taken care of. Be prepared to be exhausted after :), but it's definitely worth it. We start the day rappelling down waterfalls and walking through these canyons, be prepped for the hike back up the stairs. What goes down must come back up ;). Hop on a bus and get ready for a wild ride with snacks halfway through. I suggest switching sides of the raft at that point.

The day started with canyoning, which was amazing, and only got better. All of the guides were very focused on safety, and clearly explained everything. The rappelling was a blast, along with the Costa Rica shower that we got to experience, definitely refreshing. For rafting, our guide was Andy and we were lucky to have him. He had an amazing sense of humor (watch out for those crocodiles!) and got us all safely down the river without one of us falling out. Our boat laughed our butts off down the river, and I think we all wish we could have kept on going. Thank you for a wonderful day!

We were new to rappelling and had some height phobic folks in our party. The. Guides were excellent in explaining the process, demoing the rappelling and encouraging more reluctant members down the mountain in a very pleasant manner. Not an easy feat when heading down a 200 ft waterfall. Feels very safe and fun! The rafting was also excellent. Andy, our guide, was a combination of great rafting instructor and naturalist. All of us had a great time - across the spectrum of adventure seekers in our party.

Would I recommend this to a friend? Absolutely!!!! This was just an amazing experience and the funnest day. The other group in town that does a canyoning/raft trip wanted to charge me a $50 solo supplement for pickup even though I was staying right in town. Canyoning was awesome. You definitely need water shoes and waterproof clothes/bathing suit because you will get wet. There was a family there with an 11 year old and they all thoroughly enjoyed it. They take photos and videos for you for sale for $10 afterwards since you can’t bring your phone. It was safe and so well operated. Rafting was equally amazing and perfect for beginners or experienced people. Rafting along the balsa river, we saw iguanas, vultures, toucans, and a sloth. We went with Andy and he did a great job of leading us and keeping us safe. Would recommend this tour to anyone!

I booked this activity as part of a group tour, and it did not disappoint. We were picked up from at our hotel at the specified time and taken to the meet point. First was the canyoning! I was petrified but we were split into smaller groups, helped to put on all the safety equipment, and to my surprise the harnesses were actually quite comfy! We were given a briefing and then it was time to get going. Despite having about 45 people in the larger group we didn’t wait more than a minute or so for each rappel. The guides were great and gave you no time to get scared! Everything was safe and checked! The route was about an hour with about five rappels, lots of scrambelling, a jump and a waterfall shower! The guides took photos all the way through which were not too expensive to buy at the end. We were then taken back to the meet point and put on busses for the rafting. We were given a delicious breakfast burrito and some drinks while the guide explained the key principles! We have five on our raft and Andy our guide was excellent. Styles with leaves in our hats we set off down the river! So much fun, a few falls out of the raft and the opportunity to go swimming and eat some fresh fruit. Again opportunity to buy photos at the end. Loved every second of this experience and whilst it was expensive, it was worth every penny!

This tour was a BLAST!! It was a rainy day in the jungle, but we were getting soaked in the river anyway! Our raft guide, David, was so much fun! We had a river full of rafters, but it didn’t slow us down. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone with a sense of adventure!

Fantastic trip!! This was an all day excursion - picked up at 7 am and back to our hotel at 4:30 pm. Very well organized and awesome fun. The canyoning part does involve a fair bit of hiking thru the river between the waterfalls that you rappel down, and a long walk up at the end but it’s all well worth it! The white water rafting was also top notch. We all had a great time

Great experience. Very well organized tour and the staff was fabulous - friendly, knowledgeable, and lots of fun. You can't beat the scenery in the canyon. My only complaint was that the water in both the canyon and the river was very cold. I was shivering so much that our raft guide literally gave me the shirt off his back to warm me up! That's service! We had a wonderful time. I highly recommend Desafio and this tour!
