The Otovalo Tour was wonderful! Daniel was a great tour guide, providing information in English and Spanish. It was just the right amount of tour and self-guided time. We learned a lot and were able to do so much in one day without feeling rushed. This is a great value tour. Highly recommended!
Excellent investment for a day to discover Otavalo and the beautiful surroundings. The trip included a visit to the true center of the world (not the traditional tourist location), a boat ride on a volcanic lake and a short hike in a national forest to a waterfall, plus a few hours in the Otavalo market. My only single complaint is that we did not stop as a group anywhere for lunch. I was picked up at 9 am and dropped off at 7:30 pm, and other than some coffee and crackers did not get the opportunity to eat. Not enough of a problem to reduce this from 5 stars. Well worth the money and the day.
Erica and Nixon were great. Erica's knowledge of the places we visited made the tour a great experience. Would highly recommend this tour.
My significant other and I enjoyed our tour with Erica. Erica provided a wonderful, well-rounded experience for such a short period of time. She is unforgettably bubbly and witty.
This tour is great because you get to see a lot of sights in one day .
Guide was very friendly and explained a lot of information and was very helpful so made our day out great .
This is a great tour to get to know Quito. Our guide, David, and our driver, were knowledgeable and polite and the trip was delighttful
We stayed 4 days in quito and this was by far my favorite and well planned full day tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. We loved all the stops- from the lake to the market to the waterfall. And having martina- the indigenous local explain her clothing and her language was beautiful and truly a treat! I loved it all ! very well done "quito best tours"! For those going, some tips, wear comfortable shoes the walk to the waterfall is on uneven cobble stone and some dirt sidewalks. Bring a jacket as it got cold on the boat ride on the lake and it rained for a few minutes so Im glad we had a jacket in hand. You travel on a coach bus and its safe to leave your belongings. Have fun shopping and site seeing!
The bus was comfortable. Everything was on time. We spent two hours at the market which is plenty of time. 100% would recommend this tour.
THis tour was extremely well organized! Our guide Mauro was very informative and our driver navigated all the roads extremely well. It is a well planned out day with lots of interesting stops to break up the bus ride. it was a great combination of nature, beauty, and shopping. We especially enjoyed the boat ride on the gorgeous volcanic lake and got lots of great pictures. We did not have time to see all of the huge market in out of our low as it was Saturday and much bigger than normal. There were lots of great items and bargains to be had. My husband got some lovely leather belts for eight to $15 and I got some shell jewelry ranging from $1.50 for earrings, 2 to 3 dollars for bracelets, and 6 to 8 dollars for necklaces. All of these were handmade and well worth more money than they cost. The guide stayed with the group at all times including the hike to the waterfall ( this was not the case on a tour we had taken the day before to Quilotoa through trip advisor ) . If you have just one day trip to take from Quito I would highly recommend this one!
This day trip was very well constructed to include an interesting equator visit, the extensive indigenous market at Otavalo, a stop at a cafe near Lago San Pablo, a lovely waterfall walk, and an awesome lagoon boatride. Our guide was just fabulous - not only fluent in Spanish and English but also adorable and funny, and she taught us some Kichwa and all kinds of interesting historical tidbits. She invited an indigenous friend onto the bus who entertained us. I loved the whole day.
It was more than just going to Otavalo market. We visit a waterfall, one crate lake where we went on a small boat, etc. Daniel was an excellent tour guide. Very relax and wanted us to enjoy every moment. Nixon was a safe driver and they tried to accommodate all 12 of us.
Comfy ride on coach style bus. Belongings could be safely left on bus. Enjoyable/well-planned stops at lake, Octavalo market for lunch and shopping, and waterfall stop.
An amazing experience, very cold weather so be prepared for it.
Top of the line tour guides who were friendly and knowledgeable. Could have done without the solar clock stop and the boat ride with more time in the market but overall a good tour.
The guides on this trip were amazing and made the trip informative and fun loved stopping for the biscuits. They took pictures, answered questions, and kept us informed. We didn't get to go to the Cuicocha Lagoon, but on another boat ride that was on a lake. It was cold, wet, crowded, and the boat emitted a diesel smell. However, the rest of the trip was fun. Loved the stop at the sundial at the equator. I could have used a bit longer at the Marketplace because lunch happens here. The stroll to and the the waterfall was a highlight.
Great day out into the mountains. Our guide Alex was excellent and our driver obviously very competent. The sights included were all enjoyed: great explanations at the equator, terrific boat ride in the live volcano crater, lovely waterfalls and a reasonable amount of time to shop at the market. An experience we couldnt have done without the tour!
This was a great tour. Alexandro things interesting, and adapted to weather. Very informative, well worth the time and money. Also a plus was that I was able to book last minute and not have any complications.
Really well done and interesting !
It was a great day--so many varied activities and time to spend at the market. Our guide, Fernando, was exceptional!
Stopping at the equator was a wonderful surprise. The guide Alfredo was excellent and very professional.
I did many things on this tour. We visited the equator line, the Cuicocha lagoon, Octavolo market and Peguche Waterfall. It was a packed day with a lot of sightseeing.
We saw a lot and it was worthwhile. Long day - don't make plans for that night - may be back later than expected and tired! Only negative - too many people were squeezed on the boat tour. It was too crowded and would have been more pleasant by a long shot if folks were in two boats.
Great tour, full of interesting side trips en route to Otovalo. We covered much of our Christmas shopping in a couple of hours in this amazing market.
The enthusiasm of the guide Alejandro was like listening to a Mexican radio announcer. The only downside experience was the boat ride on Lago San Pablo, where because of the wind across the lake and my seat in the bow of the boat, I was soaked! NOT PLEASANT!
The tour packed quite a bit in, with views of beatiful countryside during the whole drive. Otovalo wasn't necessarily the highlight for me, as you also see two lakes, the real equator, a waterfall, and take a boat ride on one of the lakes
This was an amazing tour and gave us the opportunity to get to Otavalo and have plenty of time to shop. As an added bonus our tour guide, Alexander, was incredible and kept us entertained throughout the trip. We also got to see beautiful parts of Ecuador outside of Quito and everything was so well organized that we had a lovely trip. We felt like we got to experience all the different parts of Ecuador in one day without worrying about how to get back to Quito or which bus to take. Thank you so much for this great tour!
The day trip was amazing with this particular company. The best part of the trip was the amazing knowledgeable and helpful English speaking guide Erica. The boat tour was just so serene and beautiful and the walk up the waterfall. We went on this tour midweek when the markets were not so busy but there were still plenty of stalls to purchase lots of goods from. A trip not to be missed.
Our guide was very good but driver very scary passing on blind corners on windy mountain roads.
Liked all the stops we made but Otavalo Market filled many items which looked the same
Great experience!!! My husband and I really enjoyed this trip. Well organized, on time and fun. Fernando and the rest of the crew were excellent.. well worth it... We loved it. Recommended to everybody
Miriam and Tom
This was a very full day tour where we enjoyed a boat trip on the 'island crater lake', visited a sacred waterfall, stepped over the Equator with a knowledgeable local guide, and shopped at the local Ottavalo markets. For us, the market stint was just a bit too long... The guide Fernando spoke good English and was helpful and informative. We thought that it was good value for money, enjoyable and would recommend.
