Amazing tour!! Our guide, Max, was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about finding the aurora borealis (Northern Lights). We actually did two nights of this tour with Max as our guide and we found the Northern Lights on both trips. Max did a wonderful job of explaining the science behind the Northern Lights. Max and his van drivers made us feel safe and took very good care of us all along the way. I have many marvelous memories from these two evenings - roasting reindeer sausages over a campfire by the roadside, seeing an adult and then a baby moose run beside us of us then in front of our van (as I mentioned previously our drivers were very safe and experienced at driving in the cold/icy conditions while on high alert for any animals that might cross our path), and of course the star of the show who did not disappoint... the Aurora!!! Camera tip - if you want vibrant color photos of the Northern Lights, take a good camera with a tripod. The touring company provided a few extra tripods in the event you don't want to travel with one. You'll need to be very still with long exposure time to capture more vivid colors. My photos attached to this post were taken with my iPhone's night exposure setting. They are OK but our guide who had a quality camera and tripod took much more amazing and colorful photos (by the way, which he emailed his photos to us afterward!!!). We had an experience of a lifetime. Bert and his company made sure that we found the perfect spot to view the Northern Lights/ Aurora. We so enjoyed ourselves as we viewed the incredible scene of dancing lights in the sky! We were offered a cozy warm fire to sit around and have the scientific explanation discussed and enjoyed warm drinks and food. We could not have asked for a better evening. Thank you

Marvelous trip to meet spectacular northern light. Our guide Max is professional and experienced geographer and photographer. He introduced everything about the northern light and the weather of Tromso, also helped to set the camera and tripod to catch the northern lights. His commentary style is charming, easy to focus on. Besides, warm suits and boots they all prepared well that we can withstand the frozen weather. This is really a memorable trip.

Harry, as our guide had so much knowledge and information regarding the northern lights. It was quite impressive to see someone so extremely passionate about it. He explained the entire sky, stars and the lights to us in such an easy way. Very helpful too in terms of photography or any questions asked. He was also an amazing Astro-photographer. The reindeer hot dogs, hot chocolate, tea and cookies were yum. I highly recommend this tour with them. My suggestion is to wear the thermal suit and boots (provided by them) to keep your hands and feet warm.

It's difficult to find words that would accurately describe our experience. This trip was MAGICAL! Even if our guide, Bert, would try to explain that aurora borealis isn't really magic, I'm still not sure if i believe him. Bert and Kamil took us to a most amazing spot in a frozen fjord to see the northern lights and took great care of us - made sure we are warm, have a warm beverage and reindeer sausage at the end. The pictures taken by Bert during the tour are a beautiful souvenir of this magical night.

We had an unforgetable trip thanks to our guide Bert and our driver Carollayna! Everything was perfect, excellent view, amazing photos, much explanations, good vibrations around the fire. Thanks for all!

This was a great trip to a stunning location and we were blessed with the most incredible show of northern lights dancing across the sky. We cooked reindeer sausages over the fire which were very tasty. Bert our guide was passionate and knowledgeable - I loved his talk about the stars. Andre (sorry I think I've spelt that wrong) our driver also did a great job - thank you both. Great photos to remember the night. I thought I'd add a few thoughts on how to make the most of these trips: 1. It's very cold and you are outside for a long time (some people seem surprised by this!) - go properly prepared and take more than you think you'll need. I found I needed two pairs of gloves which makes taking photos very hard! 2. Think about getting a tripod for your phone. I saw other people with them on a single long pole that you could stick in the snow. This then allows you to get better photos with longer exposures (particularly if you don't have the fanciest of phones). 3. Allow yourself to enjoy the lights and know that your guide will take some awesome pictures for you. It is such a magical experience and the memories of being in the moment are just as important as the photos.

Max and Carollayna were EXCEPTIONAL guides! They were incredibly knowledgable, informative, patient and Carollyana is truly the "Ice Road Queen." The attention to detail was top notch from the van to the boots and snowsuits and the tripods and camera instruction from Max. We had a spectacular night and I would go on any tour they were guiding. Thank you so much for an unforgettable experience!

Max and his team went the extra miles - literally - so we could see the aurora and the beautiful, expansive star-filled sky. Best tour of our trip - exceeding the "brand-name" tours. The campfire was filled with hospitality and good food. Max is very knowledgeable and we learned so much from him. We highly recommend Max at Northern Horizon and his team.

Good and profesional team with all the necessary knowledge. Well organized, having all you would need or ask for. Very helpful. Even with really not good weather where patient enought to find a good spot and get what we’ve came for. Take a chance with them if you want to catch your greenish dream in the sky😜

Not only being able to see the northen lights thru a magical place, but also fantastic explanations about northen lights!

Really amazing tour that led us all the way to Finland! The weather in Tromso was rainy and hazy, but our guide Max told us to have patience. We drove almost 3 hours into Finland and stopped and saw a beautiful aurora display. Highly recommend this company — their staff is knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and loves the lights just as much (if not more) than the tourists.

This trip was definitely something special. Our guide, Max, was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He discussed the science behind the aurora and led us all the way to Finland! The weather in Tromsø was rainy, hazy, and warm… We were sure that we wouldn’t see any northern lights, but Max ensured that we would have the best trip by venturing out. It was a long night, but the small group tour atmosphere was unmatched. The bonfire, hot drinks, sausages, and experience was a 10/10.

Brilliant. Looked after very well. Found the aurora! The lads (marco and simon?) were very kind and considerate. Icy so didn’t join the camp site. Just took great pics which was what wanted. Despite that I was brought food and drink - was happy not to disturb things but o was really impressed that they still brought it up to me. Lucky to get the lights but really lucky to be looked after so well.

We went to Tromso in early March 2024. We booked the Northern lights tour with Northern Horizon and had a really great experience. Max was our guide along with Marcin. Both were great company throughout the tour - Max's experience and knowledge and Marcin's amazing driving on the icy roads. Unfortunately we had cloudy skies but Max put in all the effort to make sure we saw the lights. We drove for more than 3 hours to find a great spot with clear skies and man! The northern lights kept dancing above us the entire night. It was an experience of a lifetime! Highly recommend them!

Highly recommend this tour! Our guide Simon and driver Martin worked hard and made it a special night for us, worth the trip to Norway for this alone. They found us the best spots for the night to see the northern lights and kept looking for the best place to set up the campfire and we felt safe the entire time.

We had the MOST INCREDIBLE time with Max from Northern Horizons!! The conditions were not looking good for the night (very cloudy) but Max never gave up searching, even when a lot of the group had seemingly lost hope. In the meantime, we got to sit around a fire out in the wilderness, eating reindeer sausages and learning more about Norwegian culture. Finally in the early morning, all the conditions aligned perfectly and we saw a beautiful aurora (including red color, which is rare)! Max taught us all about the science and tracking apps, and was so patient with all of our questions. The photos he took were also incredible. Overall I would recommend this tour to anyone as it was the highlight of our trip!
