Let me start off by saying that Willy is fantastic with communication! He anticipated needs and was very responsive to requests. My group was made up of (ahem) older adults and one teenager. Our guides James and Joseph were fabulous. My group could not praise them enough. They kept us motivated and took real care with our health all the way up to Point Lenana and back down to Old Moses camp. I highly recommend Africa Outdoors for value and customer service.

We organized this trip with Willy, rented some equipment (sleeping bag) with him and can only recommend it. Well organized, the trip definitely is better for those with hiking experience, but worth it. The Trek was led by a very capable guide and it was a unique experience. I can’t recommend Africa Outdoors enough. I booked the 4-day Mount Kenya trek with them, and they provided outstanding service every step of the way. They were easily reachable via WhatsApp, answered all of my questions, and quoted me a reasonable price. Once on the trek, they organized an experienced guide who had 15 certifications in mountain rescue (so I felt very safe during the trek), and they planned a hiking route that was’t touristy so we didn’t have to worry about hiking traffic. Once we arrived back in Nairobi, the team went above and beyond to make sure everyone arrived at their hotels safely - as I hadn’t booked a hotel yet, they even helped me arrange one and then escorted me there! After this trek, I definitely plan to work with Africa Outdoors for future travels to this region.

I recently just did the Mount Kenya 4 day trek with Africa Outdoors and had a great time. I arrived 2 days before the trek and was personally shown around Nairobi by Willy before the trek. He went out of his way to show me lots of places in Nairobi during those 2 days. Needless to say I felt very welcomed and in good hands before the actual trek even started. Everyone on the Africa Outdoors team during the trip was so professional and friendly. Our guide James was so knowledgeable and experienced. The food was amazing throughout the whole trek and the accommodation was very good. The trek itself is not very difficult overall. Although the summit day was a bit challenging. Otherwise its just a long walk on moderate terrain. I would recommend anyone thinking about experiencing Mt. Kenya go with Africa Outdoors. It was an amazing experience!

My boyfriend and I did the Sirimon-Sirimon route in a group of 3 with one other person. The majority of the hike wasn’t too challenging (although an expected large amount of walking) and the scenery is stunning. The summit is, as expected, much more difficult (and more technical than I expected right at the top) but that made it all the more rewarding when you reach the peak! The trip was extremely well planned. Unfortunately, Willy (who we had been speaking to when arranging the trip) was unable to join us for the hike but he was so efficient in communicating with us and still made the effort to take us to and pick us up from the mountain, despite the long journey from Nairobi. He also did a thorough check that we had everything we needed for the hike and brought a load of extra clothes and equipment for us just in case we got cold. Couldn’t have asked for better organization! James was our guide for the trip and he was a Mount Kenya encyclopedia. He knew everything about the mountain and has been climbing it for over 26 years. He frequently got phone calls from other guides asking for advice on routes and some even wanted to know what time we were leaving so they could use his tracks up the summit. So, naturally, we felt we were in very safe hands. He set such a steady pace that got us all to the top and we were all in awe of his knowledge of our surroundings, he could tell us about single every plant and animal we saw. The porters and chef were great as well, all so friendly, accommodating and the food was delicious. We frequently mentioned how amazed we were at the quality and taste of the food. Overall, I highly recommend Africa Outdoors to anyone who wants to go up mount Kenya. They are professional and very concerned with peoples’ safety, allowing you to enjoy your surroundings and the incredible achievement of reaching the summit.

It exceed my expectations completely!! We had an amazing experience. We did Sirimon - Chogoria route for 4 days/3 nights. We slept the first night in Old Moses camp, second night in Shiptons camp and third night in Chogoria’s door. The summit was amazing. Although one of us was feeling high sickness the guide Eldad was really helpful and took care of us in every moment. I felt safe all the time. The service they offered was amazing, the food was really good, everything was ready before we arrived thanks to the porters and chef. Thank you Africaoutdoors

We had a great time hiking with Africa Outdoors for 5 days in mount Kenya national park. While we had hiked before we had never been close to the heights involved when climbing mount Kenya. However, our guide James was very competent and with a humble but steady hand led us all the way up and then down. Whenever we felt the symptoms of the height James was able to tell us what to do and to explain what symptoms were normal and which were not. James also kept us going at a slow but steady pace. If we had been keeping the pace ourselves we would likely have gone faster and thus felt the height much more, possibly to the point of it being disheartening. The veritable mountains of nice food that was supplied to us by the crew meant that we never had to go hungry. In addition before the hike Mr Willy Mutuai was very quick and helpful in answering all our questions over WhatsApp. If we were to wish for anything to be different it would be to have recieved more information about the size and responsibilities of the crew before the hike. It felt a bit weird at times having a crew of 6 people just for us 2. Also, it would have been nice to get some kind of heads up about the expected tip for the porters. Coming from a non-tipping culture like Sweden this was a rather alien concept for us which led to a slightly uncomfortable experience at the end of the hike. Cannot emagine to the summit in 4 days with Africa Outdoors through Sirimon - Chogoria route. It was amazing and unforgettable experience in my life. Thank you so much Willy and James, and our porters for perfect organization.

I joined the 4-day hiking trip in a group of 5 people, with Africa Outdoors to Mount Kenya through Sirimon-Chogoria route, with beautiful mountainous scenery, and the views are simply to beautiful to be described in by words. The summit night was tough and challenging, manageable though. The sunrise on Lenana's peak was magical. Credits to Willy and James, our guides for the ease of communication, the well organization of the whole trip, and the whole supporting team, cooks and porters for the achievement. It was an amazing experience and is highly recommended for anyone willing to experience a hiking trip of a lifetime!

This was a lifetime goal which was realised through Africa Outdoors. I joined like minded group of hikers for the sojourn to Point Lenana and team 'tangatanga' was formed. Everything from Nairobi, onward travel to Nanyuki, and the eventual accent to the summit on day 3 was text book perfect. Kudos to Willy, guide James and the team of porters and cooks who made the hike a success. We covered approximately 54 km in the 3 days via Sirimon in and Chogoria out route. I can recommend Africa Outdoors anytime and I will definitely book another big mountain hike with them.

It was a great experience to visit Mount Kenya. Lots of animals to see and lots of amazing views. The guide James and the potter Steven took great care of me. I'm happy I did it!

This experience in nature was just amazing. 4 days in beautiful landscapes, no stress, no cellphone, just enjoying Mount Kenya. Going with Africa Outdoor made the trip just perfect. Willy is a friendly and chill guide, so as Sam the second guide, they were keeping the walk rate in a way that we could all make it to the top, and the cook was preparing really tasty food (even really good vegan food for me). We had a great team and so much fun, thanks a lot!!!

The hike is one of my lifetime highlights for sure. Such amazing landscape and views. For four days we were isolated in nature with no distractions from the natural beauty. Africa Outdoors did an amazing job from renting the necessary gear, to keeping us on the schedule to finish the hike on time. Willy is an amazing chill guide and knowing him added to the experience.
