Excellent tour with Wendy! We got a lot of interesting information about the history of Mazatlán and the food was amazing. And it was a nice small group which made it easy to navigate and ask questions to the guide. Come hungry because I was very full by the end! Highly recommend.

This tour was terrific. I learned a lot about food, the culture of a market, and where I will return to make yearly purchases.

Wendy conducted a terrific tour, with lots of historical tidbits and information. You can tell she is very proud of her home town of Mazatlán. We stopped at places that as a tourist we’d normally not go to, so it was very educational and interesting, plus the food was great!

Wendy did a fabulous job leading this tour! The Mercado was so interesting and all the food stops were so good! It was a really perfect day weather-wise as well. I would recommend this tour for anyone visiting Mazatlan. I definitely will go back to some of the stops where we ate.

WoW!!! We did the Tour with Wendy and lucky for us, we were the only ones that day so it made it very special. She's a great communicator and knows everything about her town. We met great people in the Mercado's stalls and tasted wonderful things. What a treat! We recommand this tour as soon as you get to Mazatlan so that you can discover all the jewels hidden in that place. Thank you so much for that wonderful tour!

Wendy was excellent! She gave us historical context about the city, as well as introduce us to local eats. Tortas, ceviche, tamales and Horchata were some of our favorites.

Wendy was a knowledgeable tour guide. She gave us a great tour of the Mercado and surrounding area. Although we had been to the Mercado numerous times, we were always uncertain about trying different foods there. Everything was delicious and so fun to experience. We enjoyed learning Mazatlán history and local customs.

It wasn't what we expected. Wendy is a wonderful person and tried to show us local flavors and local parts of the town. She was very kind. I thought I was having kidney stones and she found me a bathroom and was concerned for my safely. For that I thank her. My pains sunsided. By the time we got home we both had diarrhea immediately upon returning to the hotel. It lasted the night. We had no other food than was on the tour. And we both were sick. So it was definitely something from the market. While eating local is interesting and we used hand sanitizer, so it was something we ate or touched something that we both reacted to pretty violently. It was our last day in Mexico after 14 days including Mexico City and Mazatlan and this is the only time we got sick. So I would not recommend this tour to anyone. We also would have liked more history but we understand it was more of a food tour.

Wendy was our guide, and my friend and I had such fun sharing the discoveries of this wonderfully welcoming city. While the ostensible star of the tour was the Mercado, we got so much MORE. Wendy shared with us her love of her city and many delicious tidbits of information on the history of Mazatlan. The Mercado stops were fun and full of her personal anecdotes. Best of all, bring your appetites. This is a taste extravaganza!

We took the Mercado tour with Wendy and had such a wonderful time! She was warm and knowledgable and gave such fun insights into the city’s history and the amazing food all around us. Highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to feel more comfortable in an unfamiliar city or who just wants to eat some delicious food. Thanks Wendy!

Eduardo was excellent -- great insights, well organized. The food was excellent, and the tour took all of the logistical difficulties out of the way.

We had the most amazing experience on our Mercado walking food tour. Our guide Wendy provided us with more than just “food tastings”, she provided us with a historical experience! We now have a new appreciation for Mazatlan, and we plan to return. It was a beautiful day and the food was delicious. Wendy went above and beyond to make sure we experienced the market from a cultural viewpoint; she made us feel “at home”!

Fantastic tour including history and culture of Mazatlan. The food was only amplified by the company throughout the market where the guide seemed to know everyone! A great way to experience the area!

Tour was great. Edward and Wendy were excellent. We went to wonderful places and tried food we would never have found. Best tamales ever. We even had a hard rain storm that flooded the streets. But Edward made sure we finished our tour and did not cut it short navigating us through the city. We had our 9 and 6 year old and they loved it. 5 stars!

My wife Marilyn & I went on the Foodie tour with guides Eduardo & Wendy. There was a total of 8. Eduardo led the group and provided us with a combination of history and humour during our tour of Centro Historico. He is a native of Mazatlan and thus fielded our questions with ease. Once we reached the Pina Suarez Mercado, he took us to many of the vendor stalls for a sampling of their fare and some interesting details of the products on display. We gained a better appreciation and knowledge of the diverse produce, fish, meats, spices, condiments that are available......fresh being the key. We have since been back to several of the vendors for their products. We sampled much fare and finished the tour fully replete and satisfied. A lot to absorb in 3.5 hours. A great tour and worth every penny.

On Friday, September 15, ‘23, we had an amazing time with our guide Maaika on the Mazatlan Night Eats Tour! It was fun being downtown on the night before Independence Day and learning about the street food and food stands that are distinctly different during the evening! We had a kind of cubed beef and potato soup/stew (asado), a kind of vanilla flavored Mexican root beer (Tonicol), churros, a grilled corn tortilla (sope) with melted cheese & chopped beef (chorreada), creamed corn in a cup (esquites), and micheladas (bloody beers)! It was all so good and we learned so much about the history of the diners, corner stalls, and cantinas. Maaika is so personable and explains everything in great detail so we hardly ever had any questions. It’s so easy to book a tour on her website: flavorteller.com. After you book, you will get a private email with all the information you need and a phone number for any questions. It’s so nice to be able to talk to a real person who responds immediately! The meeting spot is easy to locate and easy to get to. We highly recommend the Flavor Teller food tours. The Mercado Walking Tour that they offer is great too!

We did the Mercado Walking Food Tour on 9/13/23. After booking, we received an email confirmation with the company email and phone number included - in case we had questions! The starting point was easy to locate and easy to get to. Our guide, Eduardo, who grew up in Mazatlan, was very friendly and gave us a ton of interesting information and history about the area we walked through. At the Mercado market, in between all of our tastings, we learned about everything it has to offer - for both the locals and the tourists! We were surprised that we got to make a food choice at several of our stops! The portions were BIG and the food was awesome, so don’t eat breakfast before you go! We’re so glad we booked this “experience” with Flavor Teller Food Tours and highly recommend it to everyone!
