We had booked for a 3 Day safari in Masai Mara with Kenyan Explorer and our first African safari was spellbinding and definitely has set the bar for our future safari trips! From the word go, our queries,concerns and requirements were handled well by Ms.Purity and we were met by Mr.Martin at our hotel in Nairobi. We had a 6 hour ride through the Rift Valley to the Ashnil Mara lodge inside the Masai Mara. This ride is truly beautiful and mesmerising and the climate is lovely. From our entry into the Masai Mara Reserve, we witnessed some amazing views of the wild life - gazelles, cheetah, giraffes, zebra, ostrich, hyenas, lions, lionesses, badgers, mongoose, elephant, hippos, crocodiles and variety of birds...thanks to our very efficient guide , Mr.Martin who took the time to ensure we got a photo-op of the animals in their moment. Our guide, Mr.Martin, was knowledgeable about the park and ensured we got to see the animals. He was concerned about safety, adhered to the rules and was patient and quick in spotting wildlife. In fact, on our first day, we saw a family of mother cheetah with her four cubs fighting hyenas over a kill. The next day, we got to see 2 lions right on the road crossing across. We had the opportunity to learn the names of so many types of deer and antelopes.... We saw some beautiful sunsets. Our stay at Ashnil Mara was Lovely. On our return we visited the Masai village which was an eye opener into the lives of a Masai. Our safari in Masai Mara was truly a memorable one. We recommend Explorer Kenya and our guide Mr.Martin was remarkable!

Our safari experience was truly unforgettable! Our driver was not only knowledgeable but also funny, calm, and incredibly friendly. We were thrilled to see every animal we had hoped for, and our driver even helped us capture stunning photos. I highly recommend this safari to anyone looking for an incredible adventure!

Had an amazing safari with Solomon & Daniel as our guides. Every day we thought we had seen it all, and the following day they topped the previous day. The rhino and cheetah family were the highlights for me. As soon as the cheetah were spotted they got us a significant distance as quickly & safely as they could to watch 4 cubs with their mother. Incredible to watch them play. Knowledgeable, happy, pleasant guides who couldn’t do enough for us. The tented camp was amazing too. I’d definitely recommend!!

A fabulous experience, seeing so many wonderful animals. Maasi Mara is very special and a must visit. Our guides/drivers Daniel and Solomon made the experience that bit extra special with there knowledge, spotting and driving skills. Thank you to them both.

Driver Ndungu from Explorer Tours and Travel was calm, knowledgeable and very respectful. He manoeuvred the wheels well in a very difficult terrain. It rain and many roads became impassable

We had an amazing 3 night safari in the Maasai Mara with our guide / driver Chris. Chris was incredibly knowledgeable with 20+ years experience and sure we got to see the Big 5 while being a gentleman throughout! We had a nightmare with cancelled flights getting to Kenya and Purity was really accommodating to move the dates originally booked to make sure we still got the 3 night full experience! Highly recommend Explorer Kenya!

We went to Maasai Mara 2 and half days and Nakuru for 1 day. That is a fantastic trip and our guide is James. He is very nice and good at spotting wildlife.

Ellen and I were in Kenya for the first time and went on a safari for the first time in our lives. We didn't know what to expect and just hoped to encounter some exceptional animals but this safari was truly beyond all expectations. We saw 'the big five' as well as hundreds of bird species, mammals that we didn't even know existed and we saw them from very close quarters, each time accompanied by the necessary explanations. After two days, we concluded that we would never be able to explain this experience to our family and friends, that our photos would never be able to show what it was really like. All this would never have been possible without our 'rock' Daniel Nduati. If one could make one's own safari guide, one would make Daniel. The man is passionate about his profession, clearly still enjoys seeing so much splendour himself after 20 years of guiding and only wants the best for his clients, nothing is too much for him in terms of drives, looking for different routes etc... in order to still be able to show the best of the Masai Mara without losing sight of respect for the animals themselves, such as their hunting, their resting. No question went unanswered, he knows everything about every animal, every plant and every 'why' and 'how'? On top of that, Daniel is a perfect driver and is hugely attentive to the nature of who is in his jeep (in terms of driving style, breaks etc...) Throw on top of that a constant positivism and cheerfulness and then you have Daniel. After 3 days, we walked out of his jeep virtually ecstatic by such an incredible experience, we can sincerely recommend it to anyone!

Simply amazing. Booking/Planning We had booked the 3 day Masai Mara trip with Explorer Kenya because of the very convincing package that we we received ased on our inquiry and budget. We did not think it would be possible to stay inside the park at this price. The email exchange was always very fast and detailed compared to other operators we had contacted. We were given the choice of a number of hotels and lodges both outside and inside the park, and ended up staying in the beautiful Ashnil Mara Camp. The luxury tent was exactly what the name suggests, the staff were all terribly friendly, and we had great food that catered to our 1x vegetarian+ 1x vegan requirements. Guide Sammy Ngata deserves all of the credit for making this trip such a success! He went above and beyond to make this one of our most memorable experiences to date. We got along super well (which is frankly the easiest thing in the world with Sammy) and we're really happy we spent the past three days with him in the Mara. Besides his kind persona, he spots animals from miles away, is a great offroad driver, and tiresome in answering all our questions. He involved us all the time in deciding what to do and scanning for wildlife, but I think he had the most fun when he knew we'd come across the more elusive animals soon. He also manages to manoeuvre the vehicle into the most opportune position with every wildlife encounter. With his 20 years of experience, we couldn't have been better accompanied and highly recommend Sammy to anyone book with Explorer Kenya Already looking forward to visiting other parks with him in the future! Vehicle We had the Landcruiser to ourselves the entire time, and the car was reliably dependable in all situations. Whether you prefer to sit or stand, there is always room and good comfort. We didn't use the fridge but I was nice to have the option, either for drinks or for those people who need to store insulin or similar medical products. The rooftop obviously pops up, and since it gives you just the slightest hight advantage, that where we spent nearly all of our time. We had one pair of binoculars and could borrow one of Sammy's. Wildlife Luck obviously plays a part in this section, but we managed to see more than we anticipated - despite coming in May. Dozens of different birds, the big five (bar rhinos), cheetahs, the serval cat, hippos and crocodiles, gnus, zebras, topis, Tommy's, hartebeest, waterbucks, Impala, mongoose, hyeenas, jackals, warthogs, dik-dik, and many more.

Explorer Kenya and our guide Martin Kamau were everything we were hoping for a great first time safari experience! As a rookie, had many questions before even booking, and all the staff at Explorer Kenya, mainly Fransisca, were super accesible, patient and helpful. They quickly provided answers and recommendations, no matter how many times I asked things. Their recommendation to stay st Mara Simba was spot on, as the lodge is very comfy, well located and with great service. Once on the adventure, our guide Martin Kamau made everything go to the next level with his kind service, great knowledge (28yrs as a guide!) and openness to help. He explained many things about the animals, reserve and Masai tribes. He is so experience that he drives around the Mara as if it were a small park, knowing where everything is and where to find the animals (he got us first to many viewings). All in all, would highly recommend Explorer Kenya and Martin to anyone looking to do a tour in Kenya.

My wife and I recently returned to Nairobi from a 3 day trip to Masai Mara. It was a wonderful experience. All discussions with Explorer Kenya and the whole booking process was very easy. Our guide and driver, John Kariuki, was very knowledgeable and attentive, very skilled. We highly recommend him.The accommodation was very comfortable and well-positioned in the park; the vehicle was in good condition; and we got to see lots of game. All up a great experience.

The safari was extraordinary, as was the guide Martin. He really cares about his job and his clients. The lodge was also very nice. I highly recommend Explorer. They have experienced drivers. I had confidences about this on the safari when I saw other companies. Some of them were using lower quality and less safe cars than Explorer.

Excellent safari. John Kariuki, our guide, was very knowledgeable of the Masaï Mara, its landscape and fauna. He was patient in responding to our numerous questions without being overly talkative. His car was well maintained and he proved to be a prudent and experienced driver to get us around the Mara. Overall, I highly recommend Explorer and his driver John Kariuki.

This has been a dream come true and it couldn’t be possible with our tour guide James!! James was so knowledgeable about the animals, birds, and landscape. We got to see the big 5 and so many other animals including a cheetah. Our tour started at Lake Nakuru and ended in Mesai Mara. Great accommodations and safari car was very comfortable for all 4 of us. Thank you James for the once in a lifetime experience! And if you’re reading this you have to request James for the full experience!

Life changing experience, better than I could have expected. Our guide Sammy had amazing knowledge and a sixth sense for the animals, able to predict exactly when and where they would be and how they behaved (especially important to get the perfect shots) as well as being affable and friendly guide on our drives, able to customize or change the safari based on how we felt or what we needed. A top notch guide! Accommodation at Mara Simba was fantastic, with Hippos, baboons and crocodiles providing natural theatre next to the restaurant. The Masai Mara was absolutely stunning and if (or when) I come back I'll certainly book Sammy and Explorer Kenya!

Me and my family spent 8 days with explorer Kenia. As from the first minute we met our driver, we felt in secure hands. He arranged everything for us. He’s very safe and I think he has 6 eyes as he can spot every animal in all the parks. I really would recommend Joseph as he is the nicest person I’ve ever met. It’s the first time I saw my daughters and wife crying when we had to go. From a driver to almost family in 8 days. Thank you for everything!!!!!

Njinu was a fantastic guide! Because of him, our family had the most incredible time in Kenya. We were only there for three days, but in those days Njinu taught us so much about the Masai Mara Reserve and all the animals that live in it. We are a large family of six but Njinu handled everything so graciously and made us laugh every day. He is filled with knowledge from all of his experience as a guide and is passionate about what he does. Njinu has so much kindness and made us feel so comfortable even though we were miles away from home. We could not recommend booking a trip to the Masai Mara Reserve with Explorer Kenya enough! You will learn so much and leave planning your next trip back!
