Soham was amazing! He was so knowledgeable and passionate about Kolkata. We learned about the history of the city, the richness of the Hindu religion and tasted great food! Needless to say Soham is a great photographer too! Highly highly recommend!!

If there was only one tour that you can take in Kolkata, GO for this! It was worth waking up to catch the 5.30am start time. Soham (your guide and soon will become your friend) is passionate about his city, and it comes out through the tour. It was wonderful to hear his take on the city as he shows you around, just as the city wakes up. He tells you about the history, points out traditional trades and immerses you in this fascinating city. This includes a tea stop, and sampling the local transport, bus, auto and there he keeps the surprises coming. He is known to vendors and sellers, and is respectful of consent and photos (which is heartwarming to see). I cannot recommend Sohan enough, you will remember this tour, I can guarantee it. He takes great photos too!!

What a great introduction to kolkata. Soham was a great guide, very knowledge and easy going. Everything was planned to a T and no hidden or extra costs. Also, Soham was helping me with something else which he didn't have to. So top marks overall đź‘Ś

Soham was energetic and knowledgeable and the tour was a great way to experience Kolkata in a relatively short amount of time. We covered an amazing amount of ground with I think four modes of transport, and visited many iconic areas of the city. Breakfast was the perfect way to round off the morning.

The magical hour tour was so incredible. It really made my experience in Calcutta extra special. Soham was so knowledgeable, personable and helpful as our tour guide. We spent 4 wonderful hours trapsing across the old parts of the city by foot, cab and ferry, at the best time of day, early morning! Calcutta is a charming, sentimental, special place and Soham was brilliant in illustrating this through sharing his local golden insights and talented storytelling. I so look forward to touring again with Calcutta Capsule tours and very highly recommend this tour.

This was one of the best tours I’ve been on! It was so immersive and perfectly placed, covering more than enough ground (and rivers!). Soham’s passionate storytelling added tonnes of value to the experience. The tour lives up to its name. Highly recommended!

If somebody wants to see the city waking up by being with the locals, consider taking this tour with Soham. It was an amazing local experience taking the taxi, ferry and bus, visiting the flower market and seeing the iconic hoogly river bridge.

A very early 5.30am start to view the sunset, visit the Hooghly flower market and Howrah Bridge and a river trip to the clay pottery sculpture area. This tour was excellent, with great professional standard photos taken by Soham (so nice to have some photos of myself as a solo traveller) and a load of interesting historical and local context. Definitely worth the early start - highly recommended.

The morning with Soham was really excellent. We really enjoyed being on the local transport methods and eating and drinking alongside local Calcutta people. With Soham beside us we could try things we would not readily do on our own and we took away so much from his words and route. The photos he kindly shared afterwards were a treat too. A very special morning.

Soham showed us places that were not in any guide books, he is passionate and knowledgeable and knows Kolkata inside out. This is not like any other tour I’ve been ever, I don’t want to say exactly where and how you’ll get there as it would spoil the surprise, but if you’re in Kolkata and if this is the only thing you do, then do it! This tour has made us fall in love with Kolkata!

Can't add anything to what others have written already. Soham was one of the most genuine guides it's ever been my good fortune to meet. Knowledgeable, passionate, good-humoured and with a real concern for both his guests safety and enjoyment. If you're asking yourself: 'is it worth getting up at this time in the morning?' then I would be happy to reassure you that it most certainly is.

If you are looking for someone who can make you fall in love with Kolkata,by taking you to unexplored places and weaving a vivid narrative with small surprises on your way, then its definitely Soham!!! He is an amazing soul with exceptional story telling skills. He paints a vivid picture in your heart, by speaking very passionately about the places in Kolkata. Soham takes care of even the smallest needs of his guest. That's highly appreciable. He makes sure his guests are feeling safe and comfortable throughout the tour. Our 7 year old daughter turned the Magic hour tour into a "Logic Hour" by asking Soham a lot of questions. He answered her with utmost patience and to our surprise, she started missing his company after the tour. His narrative is a work of art while his pictures are pieces of poetry. They are candid, captivatimg and OMG!! how beautifully he has captured the emotions!!! You can ask him anything about Kolkata and he will turn it into a mindblowing conversation. The whole tour was like a scene out of a fairy tale where the winter snow added to the drama. Thank you Soham for sharing your love and enthusiasm for Kolkata with us!!! Your stories will remain etched in your memories forever.

If you only do one thing, do this tour! I loved it! Getting up early for the tour when the city was still sleeping, it was still cool. All the different modes of transport were brilliant. The riveting stories especially the Black hole of Calcutta. The hole experience was fantastic, especially the flower market. I loved Soham's photos. So beautiful and professional. Everything seemed to happen by chance, like our encounter with the police of horseback, but actually Soham has it all beautifully choreographed. You won't be disappointed.

If you want to feel like you’ve just spent the day catching up with an old friend, take one or more of Soham’s tours. Kolkata is a dizzying wonderland and Soham was there to keep me grounded. I would recommend this tour to anyone.

This was recommended to me by several colleagues, and it definitely lived up to that recommendation. Soham has done a great job curating a tour that brings the city alive. Not a historical tour, but an anthropological one that highlights the life and treasures of Calcutta, with a little historical background thrown in to provide more context. Highlights included the flower market, the various modes of transport we took, and the artists' market. It was such a good tour that I decided to sign up for the the food tour that evening, too. I highly recommend Calcutta Capsule and this tour specifically, and I look forward to doing it again the next time I'm in Calcutta. Thank you, Soham!

My friend and I went on the Magic Hour tour with Soham and it was the best decision we made;because it turned out to be the highlight of our girls trip. It was authentic, unpretentious and immersion into the sweet nostalgia that is Kolkata. If you're considering this tour, Do it.

We met Soham on time and from the initial intro knew we were in good hands. I won’t describe the tour but he got you to places you wouldn’t normally get to. His descriptions and info were just right for us. Not trying to fill your head with dates and facts (but available on request!) We have experienced many tours in many countries and this was something rather special.

As an Indian who has been to several world-class walking tours all over the world, I turned up to this tour, sleep-deprived, and with high expectations. I came to learn about Calcutta and its hidden secrets. I left with a deeper appreciation for life itself. Soham quit his corporate job to pursue his calling. He loves his city, and woke up to its magic as a child with his father and his cousins. His motivation during this tour is to share this magic on his tour, and he has gone to great pains to recreate it. He shows you iconic parts of this great city and weaves them together with its history to reveal a colourful tapestry of unforgettable stories. He helps you look past the smog, the noise, the grime, and the chaos on the surface of Calcutta to connect to its very soul. I now know why they call it the 'city of joy'. Calcutta and Bengal are so central to modern India, that a deep appreciation of this city helps you appreciate all of India's metros. In the past, I had lamented how I couldn't find much beauty in Indian cities. I also didn't imagine that it would be possible to design a walking tour in the chaotic mess that is their streets. Soham proved me wrong on both these counts. I now know that beneath the surface of every Indian city lies a beautiful soul that is waiting to be discovered, if you are ready to put in the work. But Soham doesn't stop there. He also goes on to relate what you see on the streets of Calcutta to the timeless wisdom of Indian epics. He tells you the stories behind some of the city's traditions that even its locals have forgotten as they go through the motions. It was this aspect of the tour that blew my mind. Given its numerous quirks and its tendency to cling onto the past, I have often wondered why Calcutta isn't more like other Indian cities. After Soham's tour, I was left wondering why other Indian cities aren't more like Calcutta. Join his tour to find out how this question gets turned on its head.
