The food tour was excellent. We loved the selection of family businesses and Indra our guide answered all our questions and told us about the history of the city as well. Definitely recommend this great experience to any one who wants to see a bit more than the tourist hot spots

We first did this tour 5 years ago and loved it so much that we knew when we visited again recently that we had to share it with our extended family. The tour stops were all delicious and Indra did an amazing job as our guide. We had a pretty big group with a bunch of kids and the kids especially enjoyed tasting the different cheeses and chocolates, and making fresh tortillas. We now have a tradition to do this every time we visit Puerto!

This tour was fantastic! We recommended it to multiple people we met on the trip. There was drfiiitely more walking than anticipated, but learning so much about different cultural food was worth every step. Indra was so informative and fun!

If new to the area, this tour is a must and very worth it. Indra was awesome!! Not only was the tour about food but the rich and beautiful history of Puerto Escondido. You’ll be having all of the classic dishes that this part of Oaxaca is known for, even mole. One thing I’ll say, be ready to eat and eat well!

I would highly recommend doing this tour at the beginning of your trip, so you can sample the local favorites and get advice for the rest of your dining experiences. The tour includes a variety of foods and drinks from different stands, restaurants, and shops; you can tell it's thoughtfully curated to give you a well-rounded sample of Oaxacan cuisine. I'm not typically a mole fan, but the ones you'll try on the tour are incredible. We enjoyed walking around the market and downtown area and hearing about the town's history. Our guide, Indra, was pleasant, passionate, and accommodating. She ensured the pace of the tour was to our liking, and we enjoyed talking with her throughout it. Add this tour to your itinerary!

Great afternoon exploring Puerto and learning more about its foods. A wonderful tour guide. Recommend it highly.

This was an interesting tour in and around the main market area of the city. It began with four stops, to introduce some staples of Mexican food; Tortillas, Cheese, Tostadas and Bread. We then proceeded to sample some of the more complex foods: Mole, Dobladas and Seafood. We were introduced to a traditional rice based, organic Energy Drink. The final stop was a delightful restaurant/shop where we had explanations and samples of Coffee, Chocolates, Mexcals, Granola, Peanuts and Hot Chocolate. Overall, it was an interesting tour which covered a good variety of foods from a number of locally owned and operated businesses. Some history of the city and area was also provided. The guide’s English was good, she was most helpful and showed an interest in what she was doing.

Tanya was an amazing guide! She shared a lot of Puerto Escondido history especially the history of the restaurants we visited. It was great to visit the heart of Puerto Escondido where the locals shop and eat. The food was amazing! We even sampled a few different Mezcal. Definitely would recommend this tour!

Great crash course to Puerto history and food culture. However, considering stops at the market and restaurants visited, the tour is a bit overpriced.

Great experience, led by Indra. I especially enjoyed getting to try our hand at making tortillas and the last stop at the coffee place where we learned about chocolate and tried honey and coffee. Also as a few months resident several items including chilate were new to me. Wish I’d done sooner during our stay. Can recommend! We had to reschedule due to sickness and the team were super lovely and accommodating. Thank you for a great overall experience!

It was a wonderful way to see a part of Puerto Escondido that we had not seen before! We were told there was a maximum of eight people tour, and they were nine, but it was not a problem.
