Putu picked us up at our accommodation. She gave us all kinds of information about Balinese fruit and vegetables at a local market. Afterwards we cooked at her home. She told us a lot about the dishes and Balinese traditions. 100% recommendable!

What an experience. Putu and her husband made this tour so memorable. From the moment they picked us up Putu was so kind and accomodating. We enjoyed breakfast from their local market and she served it in her home with coffee. We cooked 6 traditional dishes one was a bonus dish because we mentioned we loved a water spinach dish we tried at a Warung. Putu grabbed some from the market while we were there to cook the dish for us. After we ate the amazing food at her home we toured her lovely garden. Luckily, we had the pleasure of seeing her village temple where once a year they have a celebration for the farmers. Putu took us with her for the blessing ceremony. The whole experience felt so personalised & we even took all the left overs for dinner!! I cannot explain how special this whole thing was & it’s an experience I’ll never forget. I will be coming to visit again in their villa once it’s built and doing the class next time I’m in Bali definitely!!!

We had a wonderful day with Putu, a very empathic and peaceful person. She showed us the local market, her impressive house and garden with so many vegetables and ingredients we used to cook. We had such an incredible time with Putu! She and her husband picked us up from our villa in Ubud for a local market tour where we were actually the only tourists. We then headed to her village where she gave us a tour of her home temple and beautiful property. Putu gave us a very in-depth overview of Bali culture and customs and was happy to answer all our questions about Bali life. Putu’s class was so intentionally put together—not only was the food amazing but we felt very engaged throughout because she was such an attentive host and teacher. I do cooking classes all the time when I travel but I can honestly say this was one of the best travel experiences I have had. I would highly recommend this activity if you are looking for an authentic, local Bali experience.

The cooking class we attended was fantastic! Very hands on and everything tasted wonderful. I has expected one simply dish but we made five!

Putu was very welcoming, hospitable and informative. We felt privileged to experience a little of traditional Balinese life in a beautiful self-sufficient village community. The cooking class was great: well organised and a fun family activity; and the food was delicious.

The host (Putu) is an absolute gem, funny, informative and charming. She provides a genuine look into the Balinese culture. On this adventure I finally felt like I was in Bali and had gained some culture rather than just deepen my tan. Our host (Putu) picked us up from our Ubud hotel in a comfortable air-conditioned van. On the way to the market we discovered the her English was absolutely impeccable! At the market she educated us on the different foods and ceremonial goods available. Then bought us some traditional Balinese sweets for our breakfast. With all the ingredients in hand we ventured to her home. Upon arriving she gave us a quick tour of her beautiful and traditional Balinese home which she shares with several generations of her family. We then walked through her sumptuous garden which she uses to feed her family. She was kind enough to twist off a fresh coco pod so we could taste fresh chocolate beans for the 1st time. We then sat down for a breakfast feast of coffee, sweets and a myriad of fruits. It was decadent and incredible. Im between bites we learned about Putu and Bali and shared a bit about ourselves too. With a belly full of energy we headed to a purpose built outdoor kitchen for our cooking class. Putu walked us through each recipe, teaching us the ingredients and the techniques that her mother taught her. She was a supportive, detail oriented teacher who always made sure to keep us chefs in good humor. After countless rounds of chopping, frying and grinding we were famished and excited to taste our creation. The effort was worth it, in the first bite it was clear that this was going to be the best meal I've had in Bali, it was fresh, authentic and true. We ate as much as we could, with Putu always urging us to eat more before we packed ourselves a doggy bag for dinner. Full, sleepy and content we were driven back to our hotel where we said our goodbyes and went in for a nap.

We had a fantastic time with Putu & family, Putus’ knowledge and skill in preparing traditional Balinese food is exceptional and it was so much fun. The whole experience was great value for money, we’re taking some great recipes home with us and we can’t recommend this tour highly enough. If you want a Balinese food experience to remember, book this and you won’t be disappointed.

It was an amazing experience which we will cherish forever. Putu is such a lovely lady which explains all the steps in so much detail. An experience that truly shouldn't be missed and we recommended for everyone.

Highly recommend! Putu and her husband picked us up and we first went to a local market where she talked us through all the produce (and selected a delicious Balinese breakfast for us - don’t eat beforehand!). We then went to her family home and she guided us through preparing lunch - so yummy with enough for leftovers. Really felt like glimpsing more than the tourist experience of Bali!

Putu was great! we can 1000% recommend the cooking lessons with her and her family! she is warm, super patient and the cooked food is fantastic! the experience of being in their house and cooking like the locals do was amazing! definitely book with her! as it is private she had a lot of time for us and explains everything wonderfully! Insider tip: it's best not to have breakfast! there is enough food 😉

I did this class with my wife and with neither of us being overly good at cooking Putu had her work cut out for her. She was extremely polite, friendly and patient during the entire experience and the food was amazing. Their family welcomed us into their home with open arms and were absolutely lovely. Id highly recommend this experience to anyone interested, even if youre a novice cook like us.

I booked this class for my group of 5, seeing the positive reviews. This class did not disappoint - this was the absolute highlight of Bali for all of us, it was AMAZING! While this class may be on the pricier side of things (relatively) - it was worth every bit of the money we paid. Putu and her family were awesome. They were communicative before the class day, making sure our rides were in order. They came to pick us up exactly at the place & time that was promised. Then the experience began at a local traditional market, where Putu explained the different cultural aspects and the market items. It was so fun and informative! We even got to pick out some extra fruits that we wanted to try. We then went to Putu's home - which was beautiful and spacious. We started with trying the various fruits and exploring the home - the weather was nice and sunny at this point. Then started the cooking in a beautiful outdoor kitchen, shaded perfectly by the canopies of Balinese flora. The space was prepared and cleaned - and the ingredients were all ready to be handled. Each dish was thoroughly explained by Putu, and we completed each from scratch, adjusting the spiciness level as we went. It started raining in the middle, and that made the experience even better (and truly Balinese) as we cooked to the serene sound of the pouring rain. Then the dishes were completed right on time for lunch - which we enjoyed with a bottle of beer. The food was so yummy and authentic - only because Putu and her family were guiding us through each step. We got to see Putu's chickens and dogs, and my goodness. Words can barely express how amazing this experience was. I've been recommending it to everyone headed to Bali, and if you're looking for an immersive, relaxing and private experience, don't look further!!

Putu hosted the most wonderful cooking class and market tour. While touring the market, she bought mangosteen, rambutan, snake fruit and many Balinese desserts for me to try. And a delicious rice spinach soup. Her home compound is beautiful and full of amazing fruit and vegetable trees as well as rice fields—what an incredible setting to learn how to cook! She instructed me how to cook 5 traditional dishes that were all so so delicious! I absolutely loved everything about this experience and would come back in a heartbeat if I ever come back to Bali. Thank you so so much Putu for opening your home and for this market and cooking experience.

Wonderful experience with Putu and her family.... one of the best cooking classes we have done and great to see traditional family life in a village near Ubud! The food we cooked was incredibly tasty! I would come again!
