Had the most amazing experience doing the Lares trek w/Alpaca Expeditions! As a solo female traveller/hiker it's always a little nerve racking to meet your hiking group for the briefing the night before a hike. Well this group was so much fun! 10 hikers who had never met before became fast friends as we tackled the Andean mountains together and had a great time doing it. What a supportive and inclusive group of people - I lucked out for sure! Guides Elisban and Dina led us expertly up and down the mountains and shared so much of their own lives as well as the Andean culture and history. We all felt safe and well taken care of no matter what! Head chef Gregorio prepared some of the most delicious meals for us, all on a 2 burner stove top in one side of a tent. Magic! He even baked a delicious chocolate cake in a pan on the gas stove! The porters and horse owners continue to amaze me with their everlasting strength and endurance, literally running up the hills at 14 000 foot elevation as if it's nothing! It takes a lot to pull off a successful trek such as this, in a very remote part of the Andean mountains, and Alpaca expeditions did it seamlessly! Well done!!

There was no option to rate the 7 days Salkantay + Inka trail, so I picked this one. Anyway, it has been An absolute blast hiking with Faustino, Julinho (the 2 guides), Jose (the excellent chef) and the lovely porters. Everything was above our expectations. The trail was great as it was demanding at times but also allowed enough time to regenerate during breaks. What we saw was magical and will keep my partner dreaming of it for a long time. Bit only was Faustino a great tour guide and shared tons of fascinating history with us. He and Julinho also catered for all levels of hikers in our group perfectly well. So, that all of us had a great experience. Furthermore, they always had an open ear for any kinds of questions and proofed to be creative problem solvers many times. What a duo, I could not have been happier with them. The catering in the trail was amazing. It's incredibly what Jose was able to put on the plates for our mixed group of meat eaters, vegiterians, and vegans. There was always plenty of food and it was delish. We had a professional chef in our group and even he was blown away by what Jose was able to cook under these conditions. Bring your own snacks if you like to snack, we were perfectly fed just by the food provided tho. I mentioned the marvellous logistics partially. Absolutely nothing to complain overall. The trail is great, the moving camp worked seamlessly, the busy entry to Machu Picchu was executed to perfection. A+ Eventually also the equipment was to our liking. High quality tents, pads, etc. AND well equipped porters. It was hard to watch some porters that belonged to other companies doing their work in nothing but sandals or sneakers. Not the case for our helpers, they had all hiqh quality boots and cloths. Again big thank you to every involved from the Alpaca team. Y'all made this trip so great for the two of us and the entire group. :)

One of the most fulfilling and exciting experiences, in large part due to the unbelievable service by alpaca expedition. Our guides jhymy and valentino were incredibly knowledgeable and made sure every group member’s needs were met while infusing humor and culture into every step of the way. Our chef Sabino made us some of the most incredible Peruvian dishes while making sure everyone’s dietary restrictions were taken into account, all while carrying up the food and equipment necessary to do so. They even made us two cakes! The porters led by Bel Trán were friendly and extremely helpful. The Inca Trail offers some of the most awe-inspiring sights with a mixture of several distinct biomes including temperate jungle and alpine mountains with grand glacier views everywhere you look. The hike includes several amazing ruins rivaling Machu Picchu itself. If you’re thinking of visiting Machu Picchu, the feeling of accomplishment gained by hiking to it yourself, as well as the deeper understanding of the rich culture and heritage of the Inca is well worth booking a trip with alpaca expeditions! Ask for Jhymy!

With the highest of regards and appreciation comes the best tour guide Jhymy and assistant Valentino. I cannot forget to mention sheer strength and endurance of the porters and their leader, Beltran. Kind and courageous are just a few simple words that describe them. Finally, without droning on, Sanbino is the best chef who did the impossible in such impossible circumstances. The food delicious, the tour worth ever second, the views should be on every buck list. This group, no, this family is the only ones I would recommend for anyone interested in learning and experiencing this culture.

I did the Lares trek and it was spectacular!!! My husband and I signed up to be in a group and we had one other man from South Africa who was wonderful. We had Nilton as our guide, Gregory as our chef, Julia as assistant chef and Claudio as our horseman. I don't even know where to start. The entire team worked so hard to ensure we had the best experience and they all went well above and beyond what I ever expected. First of all, the Lares trek is stunning!!! While the scenery is gorgeous, it's a cultural trek and we went through villages in the highlands of the Andes. We did not pass any other trekkers on our journey-just local people. alpacas and sheep! An experience we will never forget. Nilton was an amazing guide. He shared much of the culture and traditions of the indigenous communities. He shared about spiritual beliefs, natural medicine and general ways of life. He also made sure we were completely safe and comfortable. He was fun to be with and encouraged me when I was huffing and puffing on the uphill. Gregory was our chef. OMG-as good as the great restaurants we went to in Cusco. I would share some amazing things he made but I don't want to spoil the surprise for you. It was cold at night but we rented the sleeping bags and mats from them and they gave us wool blankets and pillows. (I would suggest renting the poles if you didn't bring your own.) The entire team was excellent. All ran very smoothly and was perfectly organized. We also did a day tour of the Sacred Valley from Cusco at the start with Santiago and he was a wonderful guide. I love the social projects they do for the communities and the commitment to the environment. I plan on coming back next year with a larger group and I will use them again!

Great experience. This should be on everyone's bucket list. It is a challenge, but possible with the Alpaca Expedition.

First, our experience was both exceptional and seamless. Throughout the trek and visit to Machu Picchu, the service, food and genuine hospitality were outstanding. I must make special note of our guide, Liz. Her knowledge of the Inca culture, ability to keep us on schedule and level of kindness is the definition of hospitality. She made this adventure a true learning and growth experience and I would recommend/request her without hesitation. Thanks for making this a special trip for my daughter and me.

I did the 4D/3N Lares Trek in late April and it was such an amazing & unique experience. If you want to feel at one with nature and get an in-depth insight into Incan and Andean culture then this is the trip for you! The sights were one of a kind and we barely saw another traveler during our time. Our guide, Luz, was incredibly knowledgeable, funny, and caring as my dad and I struggled on the second day due to the terrain. Luz definitely has the magic touch as we had absolutely beautiful weather for the entire Lares Trek and our final day at Machu Picchu. The food prepared by the chefs was delicious and the porters were efficient and kind.

Absolutely incredible. Trip of a lifetime. Beautifully organized and coordinated from start to finish for our group of 20 friends and acquaintances. Our guides, Lizandro, Rolando and Victor were spectacular (thanks again guys- you rock!), our meals were delicious (thanks to Chef Mario and his team- I was continually amazed at the meals that came out of that tiny cooking tent). Machu Picchu was great and our guides gave an A+ tour that took 4+ hours but felt like two, but my favorite parts of the trek were the actual hiking, the stunning vistas, the family style meals, the villages and people we visited along the way, playing ⚽ with the entire trek (guests, guides and porters), and being able to participate in some small and brief ways in the lives of the people who call these mountains home. This trek was magic.

Our group of 20 did the Lares Trek with Lisandro, Rolando, and Victor and had an incredible time. The views were stunning, the guides were super knowledgeable and helpful, and the food by chef Mario was truly next level. Could not recommend this trek / company more!

My group of 20 friends did the Lares trek with Lizandro, Viktor, and Rolando and it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. The whole crew from guides to porters to chef Mario were so fun, professional, and helpful every step (thousands) of the way. We even had a celiac in the group and they prepared everything for her separately and safely. They made the hard days easier and the easy days so immersive and fun. It is worth every penny and then some to do this trip. It felt once in a lifetime but I had such an incredible time that I hope it isn’t just once. The views are insanely gorgeous and pictures would never do them justice, just go see for yourself. Big big shout outs and 100/10 for the Alpaca crew.

You can make the same trip and I'm sure it's going to be great & excellent because friends and nature just don't fail!! But there are certain things that can transform that excellent trip into an awesome experience, wich is something totally different. And that twist was given by the excellent team we had assigned, not because they did their job well, but because they feel every-single-part-of their job, and they do it with love, because it comes with them! We can have an excellent chef, but is doesn't make the difference if he doesn't deliver with love and intention and that's what made Dionisio so special, he was always with a smile, willing to give you that "extra mile" just for you to have the best experience, it's not onli the coocking, but the presentation! I mean we were on camping and there wasen't any single detail Dionisio left out! He was workiong with Noemí, assigned as assistant, so sweet & intentioned, she woke up every (colddd) morning with a cup of Coca Tea! She is willing to become a chef! Then we had Pauliono and Lorenzo (cousins!)... our porters. Getting to know these guys was the best, the offered every day the best, even though their spanish was something limited that wasent a barrier to still have some conversation! Loved them! And for last, our Guide Sergio!!! Sergio was the Orchestra Director for all the team. He was inn to every single detail, I think his mission was to give us the best experience ever.... and he made it. It was every single detail that made the difference here, and he made than happen. He was very skilled... he knew that mountains, when he needed to be near us just in case and when to give us some space (he managed the correct equilibrium). He knows the weather as a meteorologist!! He managed the team very smoothly (the support team), he was able to manage spontaneous requests (from us of course!! ), last time calls, variations... always woth the great attitude that highlights him. During the treking he respected our pace and rithm. He felt the mountain, he has deep knowledge of all the Inca history since it's part of his past snd truly feels it. Defenetly it is a game changer to have the correct team. Strongly recommend this one!

Rodrigo (Roro), Henry (Puma) and team (chef’s and porters) were phenomenal! They had everything planned thoroughly and were sooo accommodating, especially to some special dietary needs in our group. The meals were all delicious! The guides and staff were funny, extremely knowledgeable, courteous, and professional ! I cannot recommend Alpaca Expeditions, but specifically Roro , Puma, and crew, enough!! Book with them!! You won’t be disappointed!!! 👍🏽👍🏽

Excellent trip! The trek was so beautiful, everything was planned out perfectly. Our guide Pillco helped us learn so much about life in the Andes and Peru. The food our chefs Hernan and Aliah cooked was so incredible and I am thoroughly impressed with the excellent variety, quality, and vegetarian friendly options. The horseman, Roberto, who helped with our duffels and the camp site and equipment did an incredible job and everything was ready early for us and taken care of! 10/10 would recommend this experience.

Hiking was amazing - the hike to Condor Pass was intense but very doable. Lares Trek was not touristy at all - we saw 1 other set of hikers during our 3 days on the Trail. The food was delicious and plentiful. Our guide took great care of us. And we got to play with alpaca on a farm! Machu Picchu is a must do - be sure to include the Huayna Picchu summit as part of that trip.
