The day was great! The guides were wonderful and very informative. Kayaking and hiking was the perfect mix of activity. It was very fun and entertaining with lots of information mixed in. Pack an entire change of clothes though!

What a great day kayaking the river, hiking such interesting geology then kayaking again. Our guides were so friendly, knowledgeable and skilled, I felt very safe and enjoyed the whole experience. Advice: was very windy - bring a neck gaiter to hold on to your hat and expect to get wet.

Amazing day! We enjoyed the beautiful landscape up close with fantastic guides. It is a bit challenging, but manageable with a little effort, definitely worth it, and the guides are attentive to your needs. They will help you if you need it. They gave us full wet suits and shoes, so no worries about bringing the right gear. We loved it and definitely recommend!

Incredible day out. The team are great, very knowledgeable very good guides spoke in english and Spanish. Really passionate about patagonia and showing you things you might not see on a standard tour. No kayaking experience necessary. Very safe and very enjoyable. Cannot recommend this trip enough if you are in El Calafate.

We were looking for a day long excursion on the more active side and this was PERFECT! The kayaking is spectacular, and while easy, it is definitely more engaged than paddling on a lake or walking along a boardwalk so we loved it. And the hike is beautiful and enriching as you learn about the geology of the area. The trip was perfectly managed and the guides were great. In addition to the paddling and hiking, the guides also provided lots of information about the area while driving to and from the river. Highly recommended.

Very well organised. I particularly like the mix of activities, kayaking, trekking and a little geology and natural history The wind made the return trek a bit challenging, but the guys managed people’s anxieties well.

Rarely do you get to experience Patagonia this way. You and the rest of the small group are the only humans around the river and during the hike. If you are lucky, you will even see Andean Condors and Guanacos. The kayaking on the Leona River was a lot of fun, and the hike was incredible. During the hike, you are surrounded by fossils in an environment that could easily be the Disneyland of geology. This is not an easy and "comfortable" tour. You must paddle for 12 km in freezing waters, be ready to get a bit wet, be comfortable going to the bathroom in nature and hike up big hills. But if you are up to that, I highly recommend it!

Highly recommended! Had a lot of fun kayaking on La Leona river and then hiking in an incredible place where dinosaurs fossils and petrified trees can be seen! Nadia and Fede were amazing guides, very passionate and explained the basics of kayaking so that everyone the group could enjoy the activity! One of the highlights of my Patagonia trip

Excellent guides - friendly and knowledgeable - they not only made the day fun but also kept everyone safe on the river. It felt such a privilege to kayak the La Leona river and walk the badlands without another soul in sight. It was our group and the guanacos! This trip will ensure you fall in love with Patagonia (if you hadn't already)!

Kayak Santa Cruz did an amazing job organizing the entire excursion. Everything was seamless from the hotel pick up, transportation to the La Leona River, instructions for kayaking, giving everyone plenty of time to take in the view and take pictures during the hike, pointing out wild animals and explanation of the landscape, and final transfer back to the hotels. The guides also take pictures during the excursion and will send you a link to download after. Even if you are not experienced in kayaking, they will assist the entire way and is a great experience for anyone that wants a separate excursion from the glaciers. Highest praises for the entire team and I will recommend to all my friends that come to visit in the future. Thank you Kayak Santa Cruz for an unforgettable experience!

In order not to repeat all the previous positive reviews to which I completely agree, I can only add "go for it", it's a great day out with professional guides and you'll get to know some new things about the area. Take into account all the previous recommendations (to bring dry cloths, sunscreen, toilet paper, etc.) and you'll be able to experience Patagonia in a different way.

Beautiful kayak trip down La Leona river (class I-II) in sea kayaks. Saw lots of guanaco, rhea (ostrich looking bird), condors, dinosaur bones, petrified trees. Kayaking is easy but helps if you have been kayaking at least once before. Take mini bus to start site. The mini bus has a trailer with all the equipment. Change into wet suit, neoprene booties, kayak skirt, splash jacket, and life vest. (No helmet needed). Kayak for 6 km. A few easy rapids. Change into hiking clothes and throw wet stuff on trees and bushes and hope it dries . Then hike (easy to moderate) for an hour . Then change back into kayak gear. Then kayak 4 km. Then change back into dry gear. Bring water, lunch, sunscreen, hat (although my hat blew away into the river), sunglasses, shoes (don't need hiking boots), dry clothes, and an outfit to wear under the wetsuit (swimsuit or long underwear or leggings depending on the weather). You will get wet even though the river is not difficult. They give you a dry bag to use. Photos are included. There are no bathrooms so use the facili-trees. Our guide Federico was funny and entertaining. He genuinely enjoyed kayaking and guiding. Loved the trip and it was well paired for the day after the Perito Moreno ice mini trek tour.

We had an amazing day on the water and hiking through Patagonia on this tour. The kayaking was beautiful and a very cool way to see different parts of the region. On the hike we got to hold dinosaur bones and trek through regions not reachable by car. Federico and Hanibal were amazing guides!

Worth it! 12 kilometers of downstream kayaking on a fast moving river with some (small) rapids. It was really fun. It rained a bit, as usual here, but they equipped us with a wetsuit, neoprene jacket, and the sit in kayaks had a skirt to keep the water off you. A highlight was stopping to see a petrified dinosaur thigh bone and cranium sticking out of the dirt! Probably a puertasaurus. Guides were great. Really fun.

Highly recommended 👌❤️ We started early in the morning until the afternoon. In the middle we did a trekking then continue until the last point. The guides were knowledgeable, fun and always put safety first. They also took some nice pictures while we were in the water so we could focus on having fun. The kayaking was an amazing experience and our highlight were the guides, they were just great. Definitely a once in a lifetime experience.

Great tour with a good mix of kayaking and trekking. The river was pretty calm so it was ok that we were not very experienced kayakers and the hike was a nice break from the cold water with amazing views. Would have been better if it was warmer and not raining on and off while we were out there, but we still had a good time.

The Kayak and petrified forest walking tour provided by Kayak Santa Cruz was a fantastic experience combining historical knowledge about glaciology, local flora and fauna and fossils with a an incredible kayaking experience along the Rio de la leone and the breathtaking landscape surrounding it. During the walking tour we were even able to hold and inspect dinosaur and tree fossils which provided us with a glimpse into the various natural forces which shaped the Patagonian landscape. I absolutely recommend this tour during a stay in El calefate!

We had a wonderful experiencia in the nature of the Patagonian plains. Our fantastic, fun and knowledgeable guide (Ruben) took us on a wonderful kayak trip with a stop to do a trekking to better experience the special rock formations and incredible views. On the way, he told us about and showed us the local fauna, flora and archaeological wonders of this territory. Clearly, one of the best experiences you can do at El Calafate
